Think you may have to sideload androidsettings.apk, then pair through that if doesn't work through Amazon Fire settings.

However, Moga pads have worked out of the box for me so hoping for same. Worth a punt at this price.

Apparently it works fine with android, and can be made to work in windows with some fiddling but has weird button mappings in OSX.

I already own way too many controllers, but couldn't resist.
Controllers just in the living room (well in the footstool) -
3 PS4, 2 PS3, 3 Xbox 360, 2 Xbox One, 1 Xbox One Elite, 2 Nvidia Shield and I just purchased an Ipega 9037 today from ebay because I thought it was cheap at £12.

Why did I just buy 4 of these?
I need help.

At one point I had 2 x 360 controllers, 2 x PS3 controllers, 4 wii motes, 2 wavebirds, 2 classic controllers and 2 nunchucks. Had a slight clearout since.

Oh and if anyone has genuinely bought 50, they might get an unpleasant surprise from customs.

Dammit, receives mine from Amazon about 3 days ago, paid over £20 for mine. Good product by the way, pretty solid and decent button/trigger actions. It paired with my Galaxy S7 Edge without issue and buttons were mapped correctly manually in a fps android game. I haven't tried it with the Gear VR yet as can't afford to buy a VR game at the moment (been a rough month financially)! These sites do sell copycat stuff but they tend not to slap brand names on the fake stuff.

Interestingly Google Cache has it showing as 'in stock', this shows as usually ships in 2-3 days so they might not have any stock.

You don't get any protection using a credit card through paypal, since its not direct with the seller. The credit card sees Paypal as the company owing money to, but since they did not supply the goods section 75 doesn't apply. Secondly, it only would apply to an item costing over £100 anyway so it wouldn't help how you funded Paypal.
johnstalvern
6 Apr 16 2 #160
Personally I find it more distasteful that some people are hoping to exploit a potential misprice; essentially hoping they can slip by the net by only ordering one item. Personally, I think it's more sound to order as many as you like, knowing that you're paying the price that both parties are happy with, and if it's cancelled, who cares?

sir you sound very selfish in many ways. You want to order as many as you want, that's one way of selfishness, but that's fine.

however, when you say 'if it's cancelled, who cares?'
wow....you sound like your own opinion shall represent the other thousands of people on HUKD. You never think about the other people who needs to order 1 or 2 don't you? you sound like the kind of people who says "lots of people in illness die everyday, but who cares".

Doesn't work with iOS folks. That means no iPhone, iPad or Apple TV (tvOS) support

From PC Advisor:
"Contrary to what we've read about the Xiaomi Gamepad online we were unable to pair it with an iPhone or iPad, but the controller works fine with Android phones and tablets, plus Android TVs and Android set-top boxes. You can pick it up on a Windows PC or laptop and Mac, too."

I really want one, pfft to the folks that have a few controllers in their lounge, mine in a storage box on a shelf, start with the 2600 and go up to the ps4.
That said, I don't game on the pc (games that need a controller), have mostly ipads and only "game" on the kindle fire... which seriously doesn't need a joypad.

Alright, here's the context:
1. This thread is a deal for a game controller that has been reduced in price.
2. It is potentially a misprice and may be cancelled.
3. People who ordered 'more than their share' are being told they're bad for multiple reasons
(a) Some are saying "don't order too many or the ruse will be up!"
(b) some are saying "don't order more than your 'need' or you're acting immorallly"
4. Video game controllers are not a human need.

hey you have the right attitude, but you're asking the wrong questions.

Just imagine why a controller like this (or as a matter of fact any hardware) works fine with multitude of other devices including android, but fails to play nice with ios?

maybe its that the thing at fault is ios / ios devices itself?

think about it.

The website is not a fraud, it's been around for years now. Chinese websites generally have really bad reviews in those kind of websites because people only review them when they have problems, and most of the times it's people that has no clue about buying to China.

It can be that it's a misprice and they end up cancelling orders (they must be receiving thousands of orders from all Europe), but they'll refund the money sooner or later, so it's worth the try.

This world works on money and money alone. To purchase at a good price to sell on for profit on eBay etc is probably unethical, but it is also smart. Not everyone here earns enough to make a good living, and when something like this pops up, whether it is legitamate or not, it's a good reason to buy in bulk.
drummerdickens
7 Apr 16 5 #295
So you're saying that it's probably a mistake and him buying loads of these might highlight that mistake?

You're taking the high and mighty route there completely ignoring the fact that the person running this website is a person too. Apparently you're happy for that person to lose out on thousands of pounds worth of controllers so you can get a near freebie? This mistake clearly is going to impact someone but clearly you don't give a **** so long as you get your controller. You bloody hypocrite; just by buying one of these you're being greedy. Some poor sap has made an obvious mistake and you're happy to take advantage of that.

Maybe by purchasing 100 of these controllers the poor guy who clearly made a mistake on the website will be notified and be able to cover his losses?

See, this is exactly the attitude that is **** me off in this thread; I mean, this attitude from people who are hopeful to basically do over a business for a simple mistake. People hoping their stocking system is so impersonal that only a large order would ever be scrutinized.

Not a go at you personally I suppose, but the gist is that I have a lot more respect for someone just buying to flog them than those crossing their fingers this company will lose money by missing the price error and shipping them anyway; and others acting like there's some **** moral imperative in all this.

Doubt if they were actually dispatched. Wait to see if they arrive or not first. If you ever bought anything from China on eBay, you would notice as soon as you pay the order will be marked as shipped but the. If you look at the date of shipment on the parcel it is days or sometimes a week after the despatch date on eBay.

Yep. Opening a Paypal dispute is the easiest way to get your money back from Focalprice - like Gearbest, they are notorious for cancelling deals and then keeping your money unless you specifically tell them to refund it.

Even though it's only a couple of quid, remember that the minimum wage in China is around £0.60. So, each order Focalprice don't refund equates to three hours worth of pay. Multiply that by (say) 10,000 orders and the money soon stacks up.

Has anyone who bought this received any phishing text messages recently? I suspect me using Paypal exposed my phone number to the seller and I got this text today from sender "Apple Inc":

I visited the site and it was totally a phishing site made to look like the iTunes login page, entered some fake credentials and 'logged me in.' Sure enough the next stage it was asking me for credit card details etc.

Focalprice is the only site I have given my name and phone number to in a long time so I am wondering if anyone has had the same, maybe this was all an elaborate ruse.

They should have refunded by now and I'm not closing the dispute as it can't be opened again , message I received below ...

Dear customer,

Sorry for any trouble may caused.
Since the system bug, there are so many orders have to be refunded,so we have to ask paypal to assitant .
And to my experience, the refund may be issued within 3-10 business days. But if there is a dispute,it is hard for us
to arrange refund,so please close the dispute first. Thanks a million for your understanding in advance.

The refund will reach to your account in 7- 10 days due to huge orders. Would you kindly please check your account and confirm it 7-10 days later? Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience has given you.

I have a Paypal business account, and this is a complete lie.

To refund any Paypal transaction, it takes just two mouse clicks - one to initiate the refund, and a second to confirm it.

And to reiterate, NEVER close a Paypal dispute for any reason until you get refunded in FULL - otherwise you will end up with no refund and no way of ever getting one. This is a favourite trick of many Chinese sellers - especially on AliExpress.

HTH

Sometimes, when something looks to good to be true...

I would be interested in seeing how many people actually got this deal, as a ratio to those that did not. A lot of silent purchases will have been made, and I suspect the success rate is very low, assuming those that say they did are genuine. Thanks a million for your kindness. We will offer you a coupon when you place order next time,is OK?

Dear customer,

Sorry for any trouble may caused and thanks for your kindness.
Since the system bug, there are more than 20 thousands of orders have to be refunded,so we have to ask paypal to assistant.
Perhaps it will need more longer time than usual, about 3-14 business days.
Can you please kindly be patience to this? Thanks a million for your understanding in advance.

Hello friends. Sent these guys an email yesterday telling them if I didn't get a refund in the next three days I'd open a PayPal case. This morning I received my refund. Seems like a polite threat may be the quickest and easiest route to a refund, unless of course your still holding out for a miraculous delivery. Good Luck.

12 Apr 16 #483
So they have no intention of keeping the money if you threaten action but are happy to make people wait as long as possible in the hope that we forget, at least for as long as they can get away with.

Would a company doing this make a worthwhile profit on interest accumulated alone? Don't suppose it matters really as free money is free money.
cb-uk
12 Apr 16 9 #484
Nope, but that's not the real reason they run these "pricing error" scams.

In terms of its Chinese business, Focalprice tries not to hold stock unless it absolutely has to. After you have made a purchase, Focalprice takes your money and buys the item from a factory at a huge discount - pocketing the difference. This is why whenever you buy something, it can take more than 5 days before it's even sent to a courier (Focalprice waits until it gets X orders for an item before buying it from the factory)

However, sometimes a company like Focalprice will need to place a large advance order to get a substantial discount - but it hasn't got enough liquid cash in the bank and can't borrow it. Solution: put up a few misprice offers and make sure they are picked up by sites like HUKD - 20,000 orders for just one unit = over $60,000 of instant cash with no interest to pay. That will buy you a shedload of products in China!

Plus, as many people ordered multiple units, I'm guessing Focalprice have got over $100,000 of extra funds in their Paypal account to play with.

This is why they are taking as long as possible to refund you (if ever!) - they want to "use" your money for as long as possible with no interest!

Hope that explains

Fastest solution will be to open dispute in PayPal. And, as a matter of fact, the more people that open dispute on PayPal the better, because PayPal might take action against them if the amount of disputes goes really high.

As you'll see from earlier emails in this thread (and similar other threads on HUKD) they usually promise to refund in a "few days", which never happens. Then, when you complain again, they give you a 7-10 day time frame (which rarely happens). Typically, as other members have confirmed, you'll only get a refund once you start a Paypal dispute or they are convinced you are about to do so.

Once Focalprice have your money, it's extremely difficult to get it back - whatever the amount. It's unfortunate, but many Chinese sellers rely on the fact us Brits are extremely polite and patient to basically take the proverbial - but once you start calling them out, it's amazing how many English swear words most Chinese sellers have in their vocabulary (and not just aimed at you, they usually make comments about your entire family - especially mums, lol)

Moral of the story: if you want to get your refund with a minimum of fuss and message sending, start a Paypal dispute (otherwise, bookmark this thread because you'll probably be returning to it over the next few weeks)

HTH

My order also says invalid in the status. I sent them a message on the site to which I got the stock reply about a bug etc.

I also put a dispute in as they stated the usual time scale on a refund, which is rediculous as the error is on their end and a refund takes seconds.

So as another member explained about sitting on our money to make a massive purchase seems to make sence.

The other reason I put a PayPal dispute in is I also had what looks like a bogus PayPal email.

As soon as my refund is completed I will be closing my focal price account down.

PayPal really should look at focal price clearly and consider removing them as surely this isn't on and a waste of their time.

I had to ring Paypal about something else a few minutes ago, so I also asked my rep what was going on.

Apparently, Paypal has already received hundreds of complaints about Focalprice - and this is not the first time. Bradleigh (above post) is 100% spot on - Paypal has not been notified of any technical issues or problems by Focalprice.

Without going into too much detail, the advice is to open a Paypal dispute ASAP.

Mine still showing invalid, got in touch and got the usual response about it being a big mistake and that I would get a refund in 3-14 days. Wrote back to complain that it was not good enough and suggested they send me a couple of controllers as a goodwill gesture for keeping my money tied up, as I ordered quite a few so it's not just a couple of quid either. Anyway I gave them 48 hours to sort it out themselves before I involve Paypal. If nothing by then, I'll open Paypal disputes for each order, though I always prefer to leave that till last resort as you have 180 days to open one and they are typically very slow to process as they always give the seller a minimum of ten days to respond and they probably won't respond so as to hold onto the money as long as they can. Plus by the time it gets to a dispute the best possible outcome is your money back, where as by keeping communication open with the seller there is always the possibility of persuading them to issue a goodwill gesture for the trouble, though I don't hold out all that much hope....

They didn't refund automatically like they said they would, big surprise there, but i gave them the chance to. So I've opened a PayPal dispute today, it was automatically reviewed by PayPal on submitting and it says I can escalate it today a 7.30pm roughly. This is a worldwide scam there are all types of foreign boards discussing this same controller 'misprice', PayPal looks like they identified this having to deal with the massive backlog of refunds and is processing this quickly it seems luckily.
cb-uk to Steph312
13 Apr 16 3 #502
It usually takes at least 7 to 10 days before you can escalate a claim after making it, thus allowing sellers time to work with buyers to resolve problems.

Paypal are well aware of the Focalprice issue, which is why they have now reduced the escalation period to several hours after starting a dispute.

As soon as you escalate the claim, you'll probably find Paypal will give you an immediate refund in light of Focalprice's unacceptable behaviour.

Maybe it's time for HUKD Admins / Senior Mods to review all Focalprice's recent "bait & switch" behaviour with a view to putting them back on the "non approved" supplier list again?

i've escalated the paypal dispute, if i just wanted the money back i'm sure i could email focalprice and they'd quietly refund (something i'm sure they wouldn't do automatically) but i'd rather get paypal involved and hopefully damage focalprice's standing with them as i'd never have placed this order without paypal payments option. after having several phishing emails i've never had on that email account before since ordering, plus others comments here, i'm convinced focalprice are dodgy and i'll never even look at them again.

Money taken from my PayPal on 6/4 and refunded on 13/4. I didn't raise a ticket with PayPal or contact Focalprice to get this refund. I don't think there's any conspiracy here, just an admin error of making the price 10% instead of taking 10% off. Focalprice stated in the earlier emails to other members it will take this long to refund. All Chinese resellers are slow with all aspects of purchases.

I can't imagine focalprice will risk losing paypal in order to secure my $2.99 for a week!

No one is talking conspiracies here. It's simply that Focalprice (and to a lesser extent, Gearbest) has quite a history of pulling this little stunt - one of the reasons why they were previously both banned from being on HUKD.

To their credit, GearBest now have a dedicated rep (Alice?) for the HUKD forum and has promised to rapidly resolve any problems - usually on the same day. So, fair play to them.

But I've emailed and messaged Focalprice on 4 separate occasions, and they can't even be bothered to send a standard reply (although I do note some people have started to receive replies since the disputes started rolling in)

Mistakes can and do happen - it's a fact of life, and most people are very reasonable about it. In fact, I remember a similar case several months ago where a "one man band" business had a misprice and got swamped with 25,000+ orders as a result of HUKD. Faced with exactly the same situation as Focalprice, in contrast, this chap posted a simple message on HUKD explaining the problem and promised to process the Paypal refunds as soon as possible. I recall everyone got refunded within 48 hours, which was pretty impressive considering he was a small business.

The problem here is Focalprice isn't a "one man band" and appears to be quite a large operation - yet they don't seem to give a flying ferck about customer service. While this deal is for quite an inexpensive item, imagine how you would feel if you'd shelled out for a more expensive item.

And I totally disagree that "all Chinese resellers are slow with all aspects of purchases". I've ordered over 100 individual items from China in the last two months via AliExpress - most of relatively low value < $10. Just this morning, I received three parcels which I ordered on 5th April - so it's taken 9 days from order to receipt, and that's using standard China Post Airmail! (although to be fair, the usual delivery time is around 14 days)

If any business - UK, Chinese or otherwise - doesn't give a flying whatnot about customer service, should they really be allowed on HUKD?

I doubt they'd go that far because blatant fraud like that would ruin their business completely.

I reckon they push the boundaries with things like spam and pretend mis-prices because most people wouldn't realise it was their Focalprice purchase that triggered the spam, it's just us HUKD users who are the exception where we talk about our experience and have a chance to spot patterns like this.

I do not know if it is the same for business sellers, but as an standard customer of PayPal, if I issue a refund, they still retain the 20p transaction charge. If this is the same for business customers, then, if FP really had 10,000 orders this has cost them £2000 in transaction fees to PayPal. I would not think they would purposely list a miss price to generate revenue on the hope people wouldn't request a refund.

You shouldn't be charged fees unless it wasn't a full refund - whenever I've issued a full refund on ebay Paypal have always also cancelled/refunded any fees (otherwise the refund the buyer received would be short by the fee amount). I'm not too sure what happens with partial refunds tho but that isn't relevant here.
Weggie
1 May 16 #559
That changed in Sep 2011. PayPal refund the buyer in full but retain the transaction fee from the seller. You may want to recheck your transactions. The fee applies to businesses in Europe, £0.20, and America, $0.30, so is feasible that it applies to China too. It is practically impossible to find on PayPal's website but a google search of PayPal refund 20p will give you plenty of results.
