Hey! Disney run this offer once a year only for the following year. Book between now and 7th July, 2016 for a 2017 holiday and you will get:

- FREE Quick-Service Dining Plan
- 14-Day Ultimate Ticket for the price of a 7-Day, including FastPass+
- $200 Disney Dollars

Staying on resort at Disney may look more expensive, but the time you add in free transfers to/from MCO airport, resort transfers, etc it works out good value.

Not for everyone, but we are booking this offer!

Hope it helps anyone planning a 2017 holiday

We've just booked today too for Port Orleans Riverside, a beautiful resort, as already said by the time you do the maths it's not bad compared to staying offsite. Something people always miss when pricing up is the cost of parking at the parks which is free if your staying on site, I think it's currently $20 per day so can soon add up if you visit daily.
The memory maker includes ride photos too which is always worth a laugh

Remit - it includes two quick service meals and a snack a day. We used it this year to get lunch and dinner each day, but for our dinner we went to the resort facility and used the side to buy a breakfast item, such as bread or cereal. Hope this helps.

Just what we need, just back and looking at next year. Disney is maybe better for our 6 year old as universals harry potter forbidden journey scared the pants of him and parents nearly threw up.

I have been to Florida twice now and am going again in October. I would agree Disney probably has more appeal for a 6 year old. However, I am a big scaredy cat when it comes to ride and I don't really like Harry Potter but I must say the Forbidden Journey is my absolute favourite ride at both parks - I love it!

Looks like a good deal and tempting.

Have been a few times with the family before but always stayed off site.

Anyone know what the best transport options are if say I want to travel off site e.g. to shopping malls or Universal? Wondering if I can get away without the need to hire a car?

Uber is probably best mate, there are shuttles but they can be busy and they are not particularly convenient imo

We stayed in Caribbean Resort in Feb this year on the equiv deal after previously hiring a villa outside of the parks. We found it worked brilliantly - didnt hire a car at all and found the transport to and fro resort and even between to work really well (longest wait was around 20 mins and had many waits of less than 5). COuple of pointers - I'd always pay the extra for the dining plan to give you table service - you could write a book on how to get the best from disney dining - but from our experience with one daughter of 11 we got much better value from the upgraded plan (as you can mix and match between paying for a childs meal for example and saving your table credits for a proper restaurant experience). Also for anyone thinking of caribbean resort - it's huge - you can spend an extra 10-15 minutes on the bus just dropping people off around the lake. Anyway back to the point - don't bother with a car - def dont need it!!

24 Apr 16 1 #21
Disney are believed to be looking at resort fees and already introducing paid preferential parking. Even paid magic hours.
If you are going it's a good bundle. The difference between 7 and 14 day passes are only a few dollars.
We were disappointed last year as lots closed or overdue refurb. The weather was also unusually wet. You need the dining plan now as they seem to have upped the food prices over the years to make it seem better value if that makes sense?

I checked and flights are not out yet for April/May next year. Do folks book flights after?

Also, this would be the first time bringing young kids of nearly 5 and 2 and a half (next year), are pros/cons to staying in a disney resort versus a villa or gated community? Any recommendtions for a disney hotel?

Thanks

Flights for Virgin, BA etc usually appear 11 months prior, you should be able to look at Thomson and Thomas Cook now though if they have availability, be aware Thomson fly into Sanford rather than MCO if you want the magical express transport you'll need MCO airport.

If you stay onsite you can effectively not bother with a car and just use the free site buses, boats etc. Offsite you'll probably want a car to enjoy it fully, but it can be done without providing the hotel provides park buses etc.
Onsite you'll get extra hours in the park, free parking and can charge purchases to your room etc rather than carry cash around.
I would say if you have young kids you'll probably enjoy being in the "Disney bubble" of being onsite more than offsite, they know how to do hospitality well, especially with young kids.

As for fave hotel, we like Port Orleans Riverside, it looks great and is not too in your face Disney as say Pop Century etc. Animal Kingdom is great too if you want to push the boat out - there's nothing like waking up and seeing a Giraffe outside your balcony

I would highly recommend visiting a uk site called "thedibb.co.uk" it answers pretty much anything you'll ever want to know about visiting Disney.

Yes you can get some prices now, we booked our flights for July 17 with Thomas Cook Airlines, £640pp return, we could probably have got them cheaper by waiting for a flight sale with Virgin etc later in the year but like to know where we stand and have everything booked so we can budget for it.
rooney10
25 Apr 16 1 #30
Booking at the cheapest time (off peak) , term time the very minimum I would expect would be £3,300 + with flights , accom , car rental , insurance and Disney / universal combo tickets for 14 days. That would be bargain basement for everything

Would depend very much on the time of year you travel , is it likely to be during a school holiday ? Prices for flights can double , accommodation / car hire etc often has low/mid/high price structures too , again depending on the season.

I just wish they had rooms that didn't cost the earth where the kids beds were at least round the corner/behind a curtain. My kids usually go to bed at 7 and all sleeping on one big hotel room is a total pain in that regard. Or have I missed something?

25 Apr 16 #32
If you book a deluxe hotel you will receive the Disney Dining plan which includes being able to book character meals. Also this offer usually runs until November, you will lose the $200 though after July.
rooney10
25 Apr 16 #33
In bed for 7pm would be quite a shame for a holiday like this , the fireworks / evening displays are out of this world. Could the little ones not sleep in their push chairs whilst you are in the parks during the evening ?
That's what we did with our little ones and funny enough they didn't want to shut their eyes ... even at 9pm ! lol
It is difficult I know when they are young , we were lucky enough to go for 4 weeks so we could have plenty of 'rest' days but if I were doing it again and could only take 2 weeks off work then I'd definitely look at on-site Disney hotels.
You don't want to be wasting any time with car parking , you get early access to the parks and there is plenty of magic for the little ones.

Will this work out cheaper than a package price e.g. Thomson? Looking for last 2 weeks August 2017, most of flights are not out but Thomson are £1000pp and fly to Sandford. The Thomson package is cheaper and still gets the dining plan but no $200. What are flights likely to be in August 17? Decisions.

If we only went for a week, could we sell the remaining week's worth Disney ticket? I went years and years ago and remember buying cheap day tickets from a kiosk somewhere that were the remaining ones of multiple tickets. Can't imagine spending 14 days in Disney, personally!

yes! tickets are slightly more, but u have to book hotel and tickets to get dining plan! been watching and waiting for 21st when deal was realised! looked at booking direct with Disney, but not being able to book flights until 11 months before put me off and no guarantee of how much they will be, (could wait til last minute, Thomson were doing flights last week £189pp (without luggage), but taking a chance that they will be this cheap next year and matching up the dates! very happy with how much I paid :-)

snap been as couple twice stayed at animal Kingdom wasn't overly impressed for the money (and having to pay 18-20% tip for buffet breakfast), now will have 4yr old in tow so just easier staying on site! all rooms on Disney I feel are much of a muchness unless u pay through the nose staying somewhere like the beach (but couldn't justify that amount of money!), after loads of research best deals seem to be Caribbean beach, port orleans riverside or French quarter, also if u have to go in school holidays look at last two weeks in august (cooler and less crowded, slightly cheaper), good luck hope u find something!:-)

I was on Thomson earlier and it was showing the Free Dining Plan offer on certain hotels, like Coronado and any of the moderate budgeted hotels. So it should be there? It's just not available on the lower tiered hotels I think (same as the Disney site).

Is this deal still as good when I need to book additional Universal tickets & lastly where's best to book universal tickets? Thanks again
Smelly_Pickle to sophiejames
25 Apr 16 #68
The deal isn't as good if you go to Universal as there is so much to do at Disney World you may find that 2 weeks isn't enough. You can choose to do whatever you want when you are there though. Nothing stopping you going to Universal but every day there is one less at Disney World. In my mind it is a separate holiday but choice is yours. Only real issue is I don't think you can pre-book Universal tickets for 2017 yet, correct me if I am wrong.

we just got back a few days ago having booked with this offer last year. choosing a moderate resort (Caribbean Beach) actually saved us £300 over the budget resorts. we upgraded the free quick service dining plan to include a table service credit every day for ~£500 (2 adults, 1x10 yo who counts as an adult, and 1x4yo) - my husband calculated that it saved us about £2,500 on the meals we actually ate and these included character meals (no limits) and some great restaurant food. we never ate in the hotel food court. also got a few hundred quid back through TCB. used Disney transport onsite with no problems and just took cabs to few off site locations which was about $25 to most places (Seaworld, outlets, Discovery Cove etc).

I also refuse to share a room for two weeks with the little devils, would drive us and them mad. Thankfully was able to stretch to a 1 bed Villa at Key West in August 17 that will mean they can sleep in the bedroom and we can take the sofa bed. Already ticking off the days
Smelly_Pickle
25 Apr 16 1 #75
You are correct. It is not a use or lose program. All of your food vouchers are credited to you on arrival. How you choose to use them over the course of your stay is upto you. If you choose not to eat one day or only have one meal. the vouchers you don't use will not be lost and will carry on for the rest of your stay. Some (fancier) restaurants require more vouchers for one waiter service so you may go away to Universal (or not eat as much) and then have unused vouchers you can use to eat at a fancy restaurant instead or get more snacks and self service meals.

eg. You get 2 self service meals and 2 snacks a day that come with your choice of hotel, they can be used for self service breakfast, lunch or dinner. You may decide to get a snack for breakfast, have a snack for lunch and use your 2 self service vouchers for 1 table service meal or get Self service breakfast couple of snacks in the day and self service main meal later on.

2 self service meals X 14 days = 28 meals over the course of 2 weeks. Chances are the last day and first day of arrival you will already be up vouchers due to not needing breakfast or dinner when you arrive and leave.

If you used Self Service 28 times on your first day and ate 28 snacks you're screwed and so is anyone else who gets on a ride with you that day.
Smelly_Pickle
25 Apr 16 1 #76
I wouldn't know about getting Universal cheap, I would probably scout this site and their website from 6 months before leaving, you could call them and ask about any annual offers they may have. You may even find better deals within the US such as 2 for 1 entry etc, so check ebay for people selling their canceled holiday tickets or coupons but be sure they are genuine first with good feedback. You can try travel agents, sometimes they have deals but know the door prices to not be ripped off. Also order a free brochure to wet your appetite while you wait lol
