This Apple argument never washes, Apple is a different system, there are many factors with regard to Apple why you pay that price, it's too high for some, but doesn't negate those factors. An intrinsic mistrust/hatred/in-congruency of thought regarding Apple doesn't make it less so. Apple have led the way but interestingly made a big mistake with the iPad Pro, something they can learn from the Surface, instead of making an OSX iPad Pro, they made an iOS version. The Surface 4 is the best device in this form factor, it offers a full OS not a Mobile OS, and the design and integration is the best so far, in fact there's an argument to make that the Surface 4 is the best current Window 10 laptop/tablet. If I had a need for one then I'd get one.
The Surface brand especially the Surface 4 is now the pinnacle of what you can currently achieve with hardware on Windows 10 platform as an integrated experience. It's easy to find Surface 4 reviews on Google so I'd advise anyone whose interested in what I've said to go check the reviews.

These are Toshiba's last consumer laptops. They are leaving consumer market and focus only corporate clients. They said they are honoring warranty.

These never really warranted their premium pricing, but at £500 for a Skylake, full HD touchscreen 2-in-1 that's a good deal.
1.32kg is pretty good for a total weight, but it's kinda heavy to use in tablet mode. My Dell Venue is 1.5kg with the keyboard attached but less than 900g when detached and I still find that kinda heavy to use as a tablet, which if we're being honest is very, very rare.

I tried surface and realised it was almost Apple-esque in the value for money category, and went for a Dell Venue Pro 11 instead, at least I can upgrade twice as often and still have money in the bank..

For the price of similar spec Surface Pro 4 you could by this and have change to buy a Surface 3. Best of both worlds. I am a huge Surface fan but they outpriced rhemselves with the 4. I got one of these Radius a month back on last round of deals and its brilliant. Toahiba dont have a great rep for build quality but this thing is gorgeous. Shame they are dropping out of the market because with this machine they finally started competing with the major players

They are exceptionally well built devices but it's hard to justify the cost for a given spec level. If the same spec Surface was even just say £300 more than this I'd see the value, but it's over double the price. Plus it's lap-ability isn't great unless you go for a Surface Book.

"THE BAD You won't make it through a day with the Radius 12's sub-par battery life. The keyboard is a little difficult to type on and the touchpad can be downright frustrating."
Saying that, the review was of the 4k screen which will drain the battery more.
Was going to grab this, but the keyboard and touchpad make it a no go for me. Think I'm gonna wait for the thinkpad 13.

I have read reviews about its battery below average of Ultrabooks.
Do not know about keyboard and touchpad.
Great screen and good quality, cheap price for an Ultrabook.
Ultrabook with good quality and good screen tend to be a lot more expensive. Ultrabook at this price I normally only see HP Envy and Lenovo UX31 (old model, do not remember exact model number). Both of them come with bad screen.
Go for the FHD version should get you around 7 hours, and save some money at the same time.

Hi,
I quite fancy a surface as want something for taking notes on during meetings. Have Chromebook which is great for general use but no office. Have laptop that is great for office but hard to wander around a classroom with.
I want a device that will take over the jobs of both. The only thing that puts me off Surface is price. I can see this is a much better deal but the issue is no stylus so can you take notes with it like the surface?

I have the 4K version which also has the i7 processor and it is excellent. The 4K display on it is amazing and the colours are also natural. It has the Harman Kardon in built speakers which are fantastic and surround sound for watching movies. I also downloaded GTA 5 on it recently and the game runs a dream with very clear graphics and smooth gameplay. My only concern is the mouse touch pad which can sometimes be tempremental but that only happens rarely and the touch screen compensated for it.

This is more compact than the surface book and it is a lovely machine to hold and use. SB top end has a dedicated gfx card but tbh its not hugely more powerfull than the intel hd 520. Unless you just won the lottery then for me, given the huge price gulf, i would give this a whirl

yeah mine arrived a few hours ago too. Touchpad needs some getting used to as it is slightly textured horizontally. ie dragging horizontally is a lot smoother than dragging vertically.
I had trouble installing Chrome for some reason, so I have decided to use the Windows reset, as there seemed to be a lot of bloatware as well. Hopefully it gets rid of it.

After windows 10 reset, the bloatware is still there. Whats the best way to get rid of it? I cant seem to uninstall from add remove programs either.
thanks. decided against clean install to keep any toshiba specific stuff. used decrapifier and seemed to work ok.
To install Chrome, I had to delete google directory from Program Files. It seems like the build mightve had chrome somewhat installed but not uninstalled properly or something.
Quite a few gripes with the keyboard layout... the F keys require you to hold down the FN key. The tab key is tiny. The ENTER key seems really far away.
Everything else seems to work pretty well so far.

Im considering returning mine as the trackpad is quite poor and the keyboard is also kinda cramped. The difference between 12.5 and 13.3 inch screens is apparent, as it seems too small for me personally. Battery life is under average.
However the screen and build is really good and it looks quite nice. Hope something better comes up, if so ill return it.

Hi,
What kind of battery life are you getting?
I read 8-9 hours quoted for full hd is this not what you are getting?
It's a deal breaker for me and I've got one that I can just choose not to collect if I don't want it.
Thanks
Farmio
4 Apr 16#63
the trackpad is a little annoying, the brushed aluminium for the trackpad is annoying, especially when scrolling left and right, but i think that this will wear down after a bit, nearly every latpop ive ever owned has so this shouldnt be any different. Not idea I know, but for the price of the machine I can overlook it. Its a premium ultrabook for the price of a midrange laptop at the end of the day!
Can anyone recommend any cases?

The touchpad was the main issue for me, as on occasion it'd just stop responding. My Radius also ran stupidly loud, even when there was minimal activity to the point I placed my earphones in simply to null the noise. There also seemed to be a lot of software bugs after updating Windows 10. The shortcut to toggle the keyboard backlight (Fn+Z), for example, simply just refused to work. Downgrading did remove the issues, but it's hardly a solution.
It's a nicely built machine, just flawed
