I plan to use it for reading and watching video. I don't plan to do any real work on this machine. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint me. The problem with HUKD is that it causes me to actually want to buy stuff... :laughing:

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. It's a pretty unique 2 in 1....but there are just a few things that make it unattractive for my intended use.

In all honesty, I have yet to find an upgrade for my Asus T100. My needs are pretty specific though (for cycle touring); so it needs to be ~1KG, have 7+ hours battery life, recharge via USB, have a USB 3 port and be a 2 in 1 with a laptop mode that actually works on a lap.
The T100HA with the X5 processor looked good - but the performance isn't much better than the T100, and it doesn't have USB3 either.
I basically need the innards of a Surface 3 in an Asus Transformer form factor...with USB charging. It can't be long before such a thing pops up, especially with USB-C charging on the horizon

Oh well. I bought one already. Basically I get to pick between Lenovo Miix 300, Toshiba Click Mini. This one has way better specs than Lenovo Miix 300. I missed the Asus Transformer discount.
I think high DPI display is better for reading PDF anyway.

Over Christmas bought two tablets from Argos, described as "Manufacturer refurbished". One was in A1 condition but the second one looked like a dog had chewed the corner.
A year or two ago I bought two mini HiFi systems. Once again "Manufacturer refurbished". One was fine but the other one had expletives written in the user guide!
Be wary if buying anything from Argos ebay if you intend it as a present. Check it carefully and allow enough time to source another present if it's damaged!

What tablet / laptop did you go with in the end? Hunting for one myself.
The most popular ones here have poor sound, which is no good for me, as it will primarily used for media consumption.

ive got one of these paid 199 for ir from argos its ok great screen but it dosent last nowhere nir 14 hours that toshiba says i can bearly get 6 hours out of it thays with brightness cranked up

I considered buying one of these a while back to replace my now failing Asus T100. I did the research - and the eMMC drive used in the Click Mini is slow. I think it was a Notebookcheck review (can't be sure - it was a while back that I checked).
As for battery size....let's not make the mistake of thinking a big battery automatically equates to better battery life. The T100 for example had pretty ropey battery life when it first came out - dramatically improved by the myriad of firmware updates Asus put out for it.
Toshiba doesn't seem to have given the Click anything like the attention Asus did with the T100. Add in the 1080p (power hungry) screen, and it becomes clearer as to why the bigger batteries on the Click haven't equated to better battery life.
Don't get me wrong - it's a nice little laptop. But it has too many shortcomings and compromises. I'm waiting around for something better :smiley:

How do you this laptop's eMMC drive is slower than the one on Asus T100?
You get 2x19.5Wh batteries in Toshiba Click Mini (http://laptopmedia.com/review/toshiba-satellite-click-mini-l9w-b-102-review-budget-tablet-that-brings-laptop-like-experience/). Asus T100 has a single 31Wh battery (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-Transformer-Book-T100TA-C1-GR-Convertible.106219.0.html). Therefore it is reasonable to assume that Toshiba Click Mini will run longer.

Is your Smart Ultra 6 powered by Windows 10? No? Well then, time to reconsider whether the tired argument you are putting forward is relevant in this instance.
To be clear, Windows still isn't very good at DPI scaling. Yes, store apps will look fine regardless of what scaling you use. But if you have any intention of installing things like Picasa, Spotify, iTunes etc, then you will need to have DPI scaling turned on in order to view things easily. Doing so however just makes those apps look blurred!
768p is absolutely fine for a sub 9" Windows computer. Especially one with a Z3735F processor that could do without the additional processing overhead that 1080P brings along with it.

My 5.5" smart ultra 6 strongly disagrees. As does anyone with decent eyesight.

I suspect it is being discontinued, so you can't get a mint device. This tablet is way better the Lenovo Miix 300 or the Asus Transformer T100TAF. You get a higher resolution screen. You also get an extra battery inside the keyboard dock. The only downside is that that screen is a bit smaller than the other offerings.
This should be hotter. Anyway, heat added.

Your reasoning for this being 'way better' than those other two options is rather laughable :smiley:
Actual battery life on this is around 7-8 hours (far short of claimed), and less than the Asus T100TAF.
The eMMC drive on this has significantly slower write speeds than is normal in this form factor.
The keyboard is spongy
The battery in the keyboard can only be charged when the tablet is connected. So there really is no benefit to it having separate batteries when compared to the Asus for instance.
1080P on such a small screen is hardly necessary, and arguably a poor choice as the Z3735F processor already has to work fairly hard on 768P screens.
Personally, I prefer the build quality of the Miix 300, and the capability of the old Asus T100 (Z3740 processor). I wouldn't buy any of them these days though. The processors are years old, and they are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Despite having no need for it (I have a 9" decent spec tablet and laptop(s) I'm happy to carry around); I'm oddly tempted.

We had one of these ( purchased from Amazon ) suffered a complete battery failure after barely 4 months , to be fair Amazon took it back for a full refund with no quibble but reading the reviews this was a serial issue with these devices - I would recommend steering clear !
