This sim is supplied as a broadband SIM, but its the same one as discussed in the thread below, without the 1gb preloaded and more importantly without the £10 charge.
So it should be able to be used in a phone too. So is effectively a 123 sim that saves you £2 a month on data. Calls and text 3p and 2p with data at 1p mb after you've used the first 200mb!
Original thread..http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/get-200mb-data-every-month-three-data-reward-sim-preloaded-with-1gb-data-for-30-2389290?p=27794207
Edit:
Thanks @sxd1 CONFIRMED YOU GET THE FREE 200mb WITHOUT THE NEED TO TOPUP. Only email registration required.
Topup needed to use calls and text facility.
Minimum top up to use calls and text is £2 of international credit. Thanks @hgtompson
After you've used the 200MB, it's 1p/MB or buy an add-on to get better value.
Texts are 2p each.

To activate use the 3G/4G connection and go to three.co.uk/freedata .

My SIM card arrived today (ordered on 15/04), and here's what I've found so far.....
When I popped the SIM into my MiFi device, as soon as I browsed to any web page I got a splash screen saying I needed to top up. So I went to three.co.uk/freedata as advised to register for my free 200Mb.
This part is easier said than done as you have to be connected to the internet via your Three SIM card to complete the registration process, but then they send you an e-mail with a link to click to verify your account... though of course as you've got no data (yet) on your Three SIM, you have to find another way to pick up the e-mail!
So after doing this, I can see I have got 200Mb allowance in MyThree... however was still getting the splash screen on every website telling me I needed to top up. So rebooted my MiFi device, and all was good, am now browsing the net using my free 200Mb allowance... not sure if the reboot was necessary, or perhaps it just takes a few mins for the allowance to become active.
So, next I shoved the SIM into a phone handset to see what it would do.... all looks fine initially except you can't make an outbound call as you get told you don't have enough credit - to be expected I suppose. So I thought I'd try a top-up as apparently the minimum top-up is only £2.....
So back to the MiFi, and log back on to MyThree to attempt a top-up using a credit card. By default you get prompted to buy a 'Mobile broadband bundle' which starts at £15 for 2Gb.. however if you scroll down and click 'More options' you then get options for what they call 'International cash roaming add-on' with various cash amounts ranging from £2 to £50. So for £2 thought I'd have a punt to see if this is effectively a cash top up which can be used for texting / calling at 321 rates.
So back to the phone handset again to see what we've got.... So firstly dialed '444' to check it was recognising the £2 credit - which it was. Plus I can now make outbound calls. Sent a text message as a test, and hey-presto my new balance is £1.98 which confirms I am indeed being charged the 321 rates of 2p/text.
So in summary... this SIM is fantastic as essentially it's a 321 SIM but with the added bonus of 200Mb free data per month, and to answer the question everyone has been asking... it DOES work in a phone and you DO get charged standard 321 rates of 3p/min and 2p/text (and 1p/Mb once you've used the free 200Mb per month). From what I can tell the credit never expires as long as you make a chargeable activity at least once every 6 months (i.e. send a text). It appears you don't need to top up to get your free 200Mb (though I suppose you'd have to top up eventually as they'd cancel your SIM after 6 months otherwise I guess). You do need to top up of course (min £2) if you want to use this in a phone to talk or text.
Can't quite remember how long it took, but it was a while... wouldn't say a month in the slightest, but certainly more than a week.

Just put 3 voicemail number:+447782333123

Yes, and also if you don't want to pay for texts and save even more on calls they should used the tesco international calling app. Free texts free landline and 1p uk mobile calls

The potential voicemail issue scuppers that idea though. And the fact that Three CS have told some users that their "voice and texts could be cut off at any time".
itsnotmeitsyou
20 May 17#801
So in theory should all Three PAYG users be transferring to the data sim to save £2 on data each month (1p per MB and assuming you use 200MB or more each month)? I presume you'd need to port to another network and then back to the Three data sim.

I admit that I haven't ready all 20 pages, but I was wondering, for people using this as the main SIM in their phones, did Three transfer your existing phone number to this card? Given that Three say this SIM is not for phones, I'm wondering if this is feasible. I don't want this as my main SIM if I need to give up my current phone number.
Can someone please confirm that the 200MB data can be used in HK/Macau/Singapore please in a phone or a 3G dongle/modem.
Thx

Have many times used over 200MB, and was charged 1p per 1MB. Just checked today, and my 3MB over 200MB limit were charged 3p. So yes, can confirm they do charge and never asks to buy a data pack. Nothing has been changed. I use SIM for calls/texts too and works very well.

22 Jan 17#758
Interesting. Mine doesn't. I run out of the 200MB, then it says I have to add a data pack. It never uses my remaining balance. The last email I had from their customer service was that this SIM does not work like that. But there's evidence here and on their own website that it should be taking 1p per MB from my credit. I can only think (a) they are stupid or (b) they changed the terms without telling me.
pacrifice
21 Jan 17#757
Yeah, I get it. Several months back, had zero mb then it was deducted from airtime at 2p per mb.
I have got only like 40mb remaining. I'll let y'know if they charge way more in couple of days, if it comes to that.

21 Jan 17#756
Can anyone confirm that you can use your credit for data at 1p per MB when the 200MB expires? I thought this was the case, but it doesn't appear to happen in reality. I've complained to 3, but they're saying this was never to be expected. However, it says that this should be the case on their own website and here in this thread (and many others).
Did they change the terms since it was launched?

How has this got any worse? If you want to spend £5 on 500MB, or £10 on 1GB, why not just top up £10 and spend 1p / MB pay-as-you-go. Same result. And no expiry after 30 days.
The only package where normal PAYG beats this is £10 for a specific data amount plus calls/texts ... but there are better deals than that to be had with other providers, if it's not a sim with free 200MB that's of interest.

Haven't read all the thread, so don't shoot the messenger...but
If anyone wants to use the sim with the Uber app you will not be able to receive the activation code for the app because this sim "cannot receive short code SMS"....I know this as I wasted a few hours of my life with 3 CS. Even if you add your own credit to the sim it still won't work...3's argument is that it is purely a data sim...even though I pointed out it can receive their SMS fine.
Anyway, getting to the point, I finally got it to work ONLY by contacting uber directly and explaining my sim could not receive short code SMS...they then activated the app at their end. Hope this saves other peoples frustration....

Cracked it I think. You don't need any credit. Put sim in device. Turn on mobile data. Turn off wifi.
(However in my case my sim has not arrived yet so I just tried with my payg one. At first all I could get was the page saying connect via our network. However once I changed my apn it then recognised me and changed the page to "you do not have an eligible sim for this offer". Which was not what I wanted but at least it worked. So I have not conclusively tested it but it appears to make the signup up work.)
Tip pinched from other forums around the place. Good luck.

I did a live chat on their website yesterday after having the same problem activating it. The rep had no idea about the problem, first told me I had to top up.. then told me I was right and didn't have to top up.
They said they were looking into the problem with the activation site. I got tired of waiting and gave up but maybe they'll fix it soon now they're aware of the problem.

I don't think it is anything to do with topping up. It looks like the system is down or the offer is withdrawn.
I have tried with multiple eligible 3 SIMS and also with a non 3 SIM and get the same result. I am pretty sure that the non 3 SIM should produce a message to say that the SIM is not eligible for the offer (that's what one gets with 3 SIMS that are not eligible) but the page just stays the same.
I am not on twitter, but maybe someone with a twitter account could ask their CS rep what the problem is ?

I had a couple of the SIMS and registered them fine for the 200mb per month. I then ordered a couple more, but whatever I do, I don't seem able to get past the page which tells me to turn off wi-fi. I turn off wifi and even though connected to 3 and with data connected (as confirmed in my phone's status app), when I refresh the page it stays the same. I have tried this both in the default internet app and with Chrome.
I have rebooted and even reset my phone, but nothing seems to work.
Any thoughts / tips appreciated.

No its the diagnostics app that gives you a bonus 200mb I have never used the standard 400mb in a month so I've bothered with it. But it is in the play store, just find any app and look for the more from developer and you would see it.

29 Jul 16#689
Thanks for the reply. So the app for 200mb extra a month is the standard messaging app that you have to install to get the SMS and "call" functions anyway? So are you uninstalling it and reinstalling it every month?
I have 2 data reward Sims, I've only topped 1 up, both give me the free data each month.
If you have no 3g signal, you'll need to find one to activate the SIM.

Thanks, but I've found the forums impenetrable, as most of them are full of people talking about the US version and finding information is quite confusing.
So, would you be kind enough to clarify...
- What app are you installing, as MyFreedomPop doesn't seem to appear in the Play Store?
- Are you really signing up 20 people to FreedomPop every month?
I realise this post is months old, but can you please explain these actions a little, as I can't find any of these actions on the FreedomPop site (apart from the MyFreedomPop app, but then that doesn't show up in my Play Store, so is a bit useless).
Do you really sign up 20 new people for FreedomPop every month?

I finally got my number back and the same supervisor called me today and gave me a free cash top up to my SIM card as compensation for all the hassle I experienced. I called Three again and persisted until I got through to another customer services supervisor who was more helpful. She spoke to the porting team who confirmed that my mobile number had indeed been transferred to Three but it could not be ported into a broadband sim blah blah... luckily I have a spare Three payg SIM to hand so they are going to move my mobile number to that. However it will take another 48 hours, I questioned this as a normal number port usually takes 24 hours. They said they have to do some manual work in the backend as my original broadband had been deactivated and in fact such a process usually takes 72 hours but they are fast-speeding it for me. They are also sending me a new broadband sim so I can get my original broadband number back. In total, I've spent over 4 frustrating hours on the phone speaking to both Tello and Three to resolve this and it will have been a full week by the time I get my mobile number back (touch wood it will go smoothly tomorrow!). What a palaver!
Since other people in this thread have ported into the broadband sim successfully, I guess I must be one of the unlucky ones. I'm pretty appalled by the way that Three has handled this - I could accept it if they just refused my request to port the number over in the first place but to take my number and leave it in limbo and refuse to take any responsibility is very poor customer service indeed.
serena288
19 Jul 16#671
Yeah I had the SIMs in different phones, both working before the port and both stopped working afterwards even after restarting the phones. Tello finally called me back yesterday and assured me they had completed the porting successfully ie. nothing to do with them. So I called Three again and they said Tello had cancelled the request and not transferred the number to them (different story from what they told me on Friday). I'm really fed up, where the hell is my number?! In the end they said they will get the "backend" team to contact Tello and get back to me within 24 hours... which is coming up to that time now. I guess I have to chase them again... grrrrr! :disappointed:

It's usually the case that with a number port, there's a stage where both aims become inactive. You're to remove the old sim, and with the new one, turn the phone off and on. If it doesn't come back on immediately, just leave it for a couple hours disconnected then try again.
You try this already?

Well, I finally took the plunge and ported my number over to this SIM.
That was last week and so far so good. Still working fine for calls and texts and I'm still using free data.
But now when I look at my data allowance on line at My3 the "Total Free Data Allowance (MB)" is counting down... is that correct?
I thought that stayed showing 200 and just the "Remaining" figure above counted down?
I've got over a week to go before my refresh (hopefully) date & don't want to lose my monthly free data.

A word of warning to anyone thinking of porting a mobile number into this 3 Data Reward SIM. I knew that some people said that you might have difficulty porting out from this sim card again but I didn't think I was risking losing my number altogether!
Basically I requested to port my number to 3 last Thursday via the online form and on Friday, both SIM cards stopped working. Called up 3 who said the port request had been cancelled because the data sim was not meant to be used in a mobile phone blah blah - so why did my old number also stop working?! They said it was nothing to do with them and the old number was still with the old provider etc. So I called the other provider Tello who told me they had deactivated the sim card as soon as the other side started the porting process on Friday. They promised to investigate and call me back first thing on Monday. Heard nothing so far so I guess I have to call 3 again and try to find out where my number has disappeared to... if 3 didn't offer the best payg rates, I'd not bother to go back to them... on the other hand I was thinking I might go back to Tello anyway since they have provided really quick and efficient service so far... Though I'm a bit disappointed that they haven't called me back as promised today.

This was exactly my plan until a couple of weeks ago. It is a good plan, but the finer details are flawed because:
1. Delight mobile (vectone) now steal any remaining credit 3 months after you topped up, whether the sim is active or not
2. TPO (with customer service just as bad a vectone) are moving from EE to THREE at the end of July.
I have now decided to use TalkMobile happy hour as my second sim. I'm not saying Vodafone customer service is much better, but it's one of the few decently priced tariffs that uses a network other than EE, whose coverage is quite bad in my house.
Rimi
4 Jul 16#652
Avoid Vectone !!! They are worst of the worst; prices changes every month or so, only new customers gets best prices(but for 3-4 months only) They NEVER keeps to their word,so forget your £15 number transfer bonus...they charge credit card whenever they like, be warned....as Vectone guys are biggest crooks in UK telecommunications .
Olio
4 Jul 16#651
What I have decided to do is this: since I currently have a dual sim phone, I will have the 3 sim with 200 MB free data in one slot, and in the other, another PAYG sim (Delight mobile or TPO), with tariffs similar to the 1-2-3 range, but not based on 3, so the data sim can keep the data signal.
(Delight is 1-2-3, TPO is 1-3-5)
Currently on an intermediary PAYG service from Vodafone as I had a voucher, but that backfired. I though it was £10 credit, but is was a £10 add on, so credit will be all gone at the end of the 30 days. At that stage, I'll have my new free sims...
Note, another option would have been to use Vectone, since you get £15 credit if you port in. That will feed your PAYG for a while. You can even use their £1/ mth contract for a while (well, 15 months).

My mum got her old Post Office Mobile (a network she'll miss by the way) number ported across to one of these yesterday. Painless process and took a day. Now topped up online via the My3 website (selected the 'international' option), and can use this credit on calls and texts at 3p and 2p respectively.
200MB free data working fine. As she's a low user, this SIM will be great for her.
Would have preferred to have kept her on Post Office Mobile but obviously they're going down the pan like a lot of MVNOs these days so I'm just going to keep her on an MNO like Three from now on.

Interesting comments but I wouldnt risk it if you have a gold number.
Call me cynical but a decent gold number is easy to establish and they could have a policy change about giving
pac codes out if they dont have to and if they think you wont leave three, then theyll ramp up the call costs theres
a lot of greed out there in society, three have history of it with welshing on the one plan deal.

Peeps, I just did an online chat with a three rep. I asked for my pac code, he said the relevant team is closed now and gave me gheir number. I just asked if I could get a pac code, it's a data sim with my mobile number on it, he said it's fine. He said I could email the request, they correspond back.
Look, I didn't give him my mobile number so he couldn't look at my account and it might he was just speaking in very general terms. I'm gonna call tomorrow and ask for pac, I'll let y'know how it goes. I'm not actually gonna use it though cause I wanna stay on three. I'm also just gonna email in - I've a feeling when it goes through on email, it'll go through to an advisor on a different skill set to just a customer service rep. Maybe when they receive the email, they forward to their retentions/disconnections and they actually say.
Anyway, I'll give it a shot, can't hurt to try.
Worst case scenario, they can't give it. You end up getting a new number and it's not exactly end of world when it comes to giving out that number.
Try not to fret, I'll do the mission when their lines are open tomorrow.

If its got a mobile number attached then its a legal requirement to alow you to port out. Unfortunately three decided when they founded the company to outsource their call centre to a third world country to save costs. This can present problems not only with poorly trained staff but the language barriers make it worse. If they refuse remind them of their legal obligations and ask for a supervisor. keep ringing back if no joy. The only sim I would have a problem with is freedompop because theres different rules for voip numbers as they are kept separate from mobile numbers.

I registered my card on my3 account but smallest amount it would let me choose to add was £5 so I used the app on my phone which took my to add payment and I had choose to add credit to number so put my number in and credit card details and choose £2 international credit and it worked.
I'm not aware of any 3 stores selling £2 vouchers. You might wanna contact them direct, I think there's one of those online chat things where an advisor can say in real time. It'll be on their help section but, it is £2 though. You couldn't just ask a mate to do it on their card and then give em the £2..? When you input your mobile number, it'll be identified as a mbb mobile broadband sim. It'll give you options of topping up by 15, 20 or 30 but if you tap/click the arrow, there's options for 2, 5, 10 and so on. Hey pal, I managed to port my number into three - I did so via their three online form, that just went through fine in one working day.
I posted previous that I made a call and no echo. Earlier today I had a call, I had a Bluetooth headset on, not a cheapo one either, it's an sbh80 Sony, very good spec. Anyway, there was no echo but I didn't think to talk on the handset.
I found there's no voicemail but I'm not fussed about that and I'm confident that if I do a recieve a call on the handset, there won't be an echo. (Making a call was fine, no echo).
All in all, I'm pleased. I'm sure it'll be a breeze to get a pac code if I ever wanna port out.
To me, this mobile broadband sim is basically a pay as you with no voicemail with free 200mb each month.
I topped up £2 and the way I've read the terms, the credit won't expire and neither will the sim - provided it's just in a handset that's switched on i.e connected to network.
And the phone I received a call on was the xperia z3.

2 x Tab S 8.4"
1 x Tab S 10.5"
1 x Dual Sim S7 Edge (as 2nd sim slot).
Registered properly, bought £10 vouchers and then used them to top up each sim.
Each month getting free 200mb.
£10 credit NOT getting used unless I make call or send text (and says on the credit available that it will not expire).
Have not tried to buy top ups.
Have made calls and received calls and texts from all devices without issue.
Am getting 4G without issue.
These sims are ideal as 'voice tablet' sims where you might just occasionally need to make a call or send a text but use the tablet away from home sometimes so need to use data.
Thanks OP.

Just to chime in;
- I got the sim card
- No dongle, inserted into phone
- browsed three/free data url
- registered for free 200mb, and got the free 200mb
- went onto the website, bought a £2 top up
- sent a text that was 2p,
- did a phone call, it was 3p (call less than a minute, they round up)
- no echo
- am getting 4g
- In the process of getting the pac code ports sorted - I'll let attempt to port in and replace the default number
But it's been smooth so far and I think we have a winner.
BTW, I disabled the date on my phone so was strictly a phone signal. Made a phone call, it was fine.
But to note, I called landlines number and no echo, I didn't test calling another mobile number but ergh, I think it'll be OK.
Just to further add as I know others have had issues with echo, I was using a Sony xperia z3. So I know some folks have been told that there phone isn't new enough and I don't know what devices they have but it's fine for me on xperia z3. I have a Samsung s7 edge which is even more recent, not tried but I doubt there'll be any issues.

Mine is a moto g3 but it's the same on my moto g first gen too.
It's hardly worth bothering with support, I suspect they'll say it's because it's a data sim.
Maybe it is, in my case.....seeing as my 123 sim is fine.

There are downsides:
-No Voicemail
-No Three in Touch
-No Add-Ons (only data add on available)
-All calls routed through data connection (thats why some hear echoes)
-No 4G Voice
In my opinion, all this not worth free 200MB..

Consul, click the extra links button and you are presented with international credit options for calls and texts abroad but these work in the UK at 321 rates so you could buy 2 GBP of credit use that for 3p/min calles 2p texts and still get the 200mb data free every month. This deal makes the original sims redundant but I would keep one if you have one as if they wall garden the 321 original sims then stop the data on these you could be snookered. Best just keep your original sim active one call every 6 months and start using this deals sim.

I'm unsure if anyone commented but for those who have this working, topped up with £2 or whatever, are you able to receive calls just like a regular sim..?
Cause what I've gathered then is that it's a data sim with free 200mb each month
-It's on 3's 321 pay and go rates
-You can port in
-You can port out
Are people making and receiving calls?
You're beautiful.

No voice mail

Now have to port to another supplier and then port back!

redevil96
24 May 16#569
Here's what you need to know about this sim
200mb every month no need to top up
porting number works even after porting
you need to top up atleast £2 every 6 month just to keep the sim activate (which isn't a big deal)
you can buy ANY addons including All in One 10 (1gb100mins3000text) and you still get the 200mb of course
if customer service tells you this sim won't work with phones
hang up and call again they have many inexperienced customer service
i suggest porting on the phone, but it can also be done online
no voicemail (i dont really care dont use it anyways)
3p per minutes for calls and callforwarding
2p for text
1p per mb
i mean i'm highly satisfied with this sim!
i can't complain there's nothing to complain about
Been using for 2 months and where i live i get 40mbps
for those who don't know what that is
let's just say that the internet is faster than regular broadband speed
and as fast as fibre optic!
some areas in the uk get more speed some get's less
apparently three is still merging with O2 so let's hope that bumps up speed
i want to three to beat EE

you have to port to another provider then port back
the easiest way to do this
is by porting to giffgaff if you already have a giffgaff account
you simply get your pac code from three
port it online on giffgaff (you dont even need a giffgaff sim)
then port it back to your new three sim its simple

Some of the customer service team do not know their own T&C, only when you point it out to them, they say yes you are correct.
gwapenut
18 May 16#547
Yes, I saw that thanks, but I wanted to check whether T&Cs explicitly allowed them to disconnect people using data sims in phones, as this has been reported about three in the past. In case of problems, it's easier to rely on T&Cs with the ombudsman rather than "implicit" terms such as text and call rates.
But at least all their info is pointing in the same direction!
I'm going to try porting in with a £2 topup ... if I don't get the reward after a month, I may just ditch my number and get a new data sim. Depends how much data I find myself using versus the minor aggro of ditching a number not many people use.

On the previous page or two, someone kindly posted a table showing the 3/2/1p charging structure for calls and texts on this specific tariff - so this SIM is INTENDED for call, text and data use - if it wasn't, there wouldn't be rates for calls and SMS.
So, to answer your question, you CAN use this data in ANY kind of device (i.e. phone or tablet).
HTH

I think Three takes £10 credit when you register your card for security checks. It happened to me before too when topping up the normal 321 PAYG sim.
Although not a good option if you just wanted to top up £2.

Made another call to transfer number.
This time I have been told that I can transfer number, B U T sim will become as regular 1-2-3 sim and I will loose 200MB free allowance.
I am leaving sim as it is.... wont use it anyways, as FreedomPop gives me far more free allowance on internet:
200MB +200MB for introduced 20 friends +200MB when registering FP app on android(can do this monthly  ) and all together have 600MB easily, plus can get another 500MB from friends.

It might be worth loading some credit and try a test call / text... I think in 'My3' this doesn't actually show as the 321 plan (as technically it's a MBB SIM) but certainly I seem to still be getting charged the same 321 rates.

Ok, try this. Go to data usage -> mobile data and then choose settings, which might be in the little dropdown top right, or press your menu button, then choose mobile networks, search networks and see if you can select Three from there. Before that check automatically choose network is on and press that and just to see if you're registered on the network. If that doesn't work maybe something here will help:
Thanks - I registered the SIM using my laptop but still can't get the handset to go to 3 with wifi turned off. It tries and then times out. I've tried at home and at work but just can't get the "freedata" page to load via data. Loads fine under wifi, then I turn off the wifi and refresh and nothing.
My handset is unlocked and I have received a welcome to 3 text on it, so that part is working. Mobile data is definitely turned on. I can't think what else might need to be changed to make it work..

I ended up with 3 of these SIMs now, I only ordered two but got an extra one sent out for some reason! All are working perfectly fine, but on the last one, when I used the special link to claim the free 200Mb, it just activated my data without sending a link to verify my e-mail.
So not sure if they've changed the process and no longer need to verify your e-mail address, that could explain the dead links people are seeing. Or maybe they know I'm genuine as I have three of these SIMs linked to the same e-mail address!

Settings -> Network Connections -> Data Usage and then in either the mobile or wifi tabs it'll show a list of all apps that have used data - just go through them all and restrict background data. I think this only came along with the last 2 versions of Android so you might not have it. If you're using an app it can use mobile data and they can always use wifi - of course if either of these are turned on.
Or download NetGuard and you can make that stop apps using mobile or wifi data. It's good for stopping some free apps, like ones from Amazon Underground, showing you adverts all the time. You don't need to be rooted.

My SIM arrived today , I was using the Post Office payg £5 deal which was 500mb data a month (plus 250mins/300txt) but has now dropped to 200mb. Not using it on a mi-fi device..just on my Nokia phone.
I registered the SIM on the Three website https://www.three.co.uk/My3Account/My3/Register?intid=globalregister using my PC , I'm assuming you can just do this on your phone via wi-fi.
It sends you a text message with a temporary password and used that to create my Three account (It forces a password change)
Using wi-fi on my phone I went to http://www.three.co.uk/datareward to register for the free 200mb data.It prompts you to turn wi-fi off , I made sure data was then enabled on my phone and refreshed the page.. registered .. job done. I'm guessing it lets you use data "free" to Three web pages. Possibly you don't have to go to the page via wi-fi but I know it works this way. After a minute or two the 200mb allowance was showing in my Three account and I topped up £2 to see if I could make calls and text, I successfully sent a text and made a short call both of which were recorded pretty quickly in my Three account. Received mine today for my Sony S2 Tablet. Although it is showing 0MB available, I will leave it a short while to see if the 200MB appears. It connects fine to the 3 web app etc so i know it is connected fine.
Edit: Maybe if I read the pamphlet that came with the SIM. registered at the web site and now waiting for the 200MB to appear.

In top right of your email, do you get something saying "can't see this email?".
Click on that and then it'll open up the email in a new tab, and try pressing the confirmation again.
If that does not work, you may need to try registering again or talk to Three.

My dual sim phone won't let me do that because the three network needs a 3g signal and the freedom pop because it's using through three network also needs a 3g signal . Just about all dual sim phones don't allow both sims to connect to 3g at the same time . 1 sim uses the.2g signal while the sim you choice to use for mobile internet will use the 3g or 4g signal. So you can have both freedom pop and three sims in your dual sim phone but you will not be able to have both working at the same time. Which every you select to use for mobile internet will show a signal and work the other then will not show a signal. Saying all that there are a very few dual sim phones that do have dual 3g capabilites but very rare. Let me know how you get on.

Yes. I know not all 07 numbers are equal - eg you try calling a native Vectone/Lebara/Delight issued number from a TPO sim and see how quickly you are not allowed to connect - because some are charged at UK "other network" rates.
This tells you all you need to know - put a number in the cost calculator at the bottom.
For Delight, Vectone etc it tells you 20p per min, for "normal" numbers it tells you 10p. For my 3 data sim, it tells me 10p.
So as far as I am concerned, it is as good as a normal UK moblile number.

I don't think you can move existing credit to a new number. When transferring number you always have to leave your current provider and move to another one, and then move back. You can't transfer number within the same network. So most likely that your existing credit will be lost if you do decide to move.

I don't need to PAC my number into this SIM, but it would be interesting to see if it's possible to PAC a number into one of these SIMs. They are quite odd, as they are clearly data SIMs intended for dongles and MiFi devices, but they just happen to work in a standard phone handset too!

My one took 2 days to arrive but then I did order it in the evening so don't expect it was sent out the day I ordered it.
I've not activated it yet but am I right in thinking that this 200mb of free data is reoccurring every month without ever topping up?
Or is it just like the last one that was posted up here where it was preloaded with 200mb of data that lasted for 30 days after activating the sim and then you had to top up?
hgthompson to Inked666
22 Apr 16#282
Yes the free 200Mb is recurring every month without having to top-up :-) As far as I can tell the only requirement to keep the SIM active is to have some kind of chargable useage at least every 6 months. So I have made the minimum £2 top-up (apparently this credit never expires) and in in theory I'll never need to eat into to this credit if I don't go over 200Mb per month. But it does allow me to fire off a text (charged at 2p) every 6 months in order to keep the SIM alive.

22 Apr 16#274
Great work!
Thanks for testing and reporting back to us with your detailed reply

It is intended for tablet/dongle/MiFi use. However, there are mixed advice from Three customer service/users. Some say you can use it to make call and text since its in their 321 tariff. Some say it can't text or call. I guess it depends on the device you use it on.
If you use it on your phone, then it may work as a regular phone supports call and texts. Don't take my work for it though. I will let you know once I receive the sim and try it out.

To keep the sim active, does it have to be a chargeable action? I thought it had to be some kind of action to let the network know the sim is still being used, eg checking the balance.
So if the data is being used, it keeps the sim active by default?
nathan18k to team_a
18 Apr 16#209
I think it has to be a chargeable event atleast every 6 month period.
However the 123 credit never expired according to MyThree account.
bma1445 to team_a
18 Apr 16#210
I double checked with three - it needs to be a chargeable action. If you occasionally go over your 200mb and have credit it'll be okay. If not, take the sim out, stick it in a phone and send a text every few months.
micpwelsh
18 Apr 16#206
So what do you have to do to get the free data every month ?
Maybe the confusion about whether you can/can't make calls is down to the type of gadget you install it in. Three says the Data Rewards SIM is for tablets and WiFi dongles not phones. But an iPad cannot make calls or texts due to its locked-in firmware. So with an iPad you can't use that method to make a chargeable event and I guess that means a topup every 6 months is essential. With some dongles you can send texts but it's a right faff.
gx3k
16 Apr 163#189
I have this sim and it works well for me. It can make and receive calls (3p) and text (2p). I also have Freedom pop which uses the Three network but that seems to get bad signal and the free calls is awful quality for me as they are usually choppy or won't connect so it's in my 4g tablet.

I already quoted you as well on this...
buglawton
15 Apr 16#186
You cannot make a call or send a text using the Rewards SIM, AFAIK.
But you need to make a chargeable event like a text or a call - or a topup, at least once per 6 months to keep your SIM alive.
So it appears, and others in earlier posts also said, you need to do a top up once per 6 months. Per the link i posted above, that minimum could be £15. Actually that would be £2.50/month spend.
Depending on which Three page you land on, views differ widely on what the real minimum topup will be.
Also views vary on whether you can or can't make a call/text as a chargeable event.
Always makes me wonder why Three has such trouble communicating its Ts&Cs to people.
bogglesmith2
15 Apr 16#185
1. Where are you getting your information that this will only work after one top-up?
2. I already quoted you about this. You can send and receive calls and texts. You can top-up a minimum of £2 using International Cash option - this goes on your credit.
3. As mentioned above, it's a chargeable event, so just a 2p text will do it.

15 Apr 16#179
Let's just be clear about this deal, because the main listing is still wrong and misleading:
1) this is not free, and it will only work after one top up. The minimum top up on this tariff is £10, so it is no different to the previous posting.
2) you cannot use it to text or to phone, as the only valid top ups are £10 or more immediately converted to data - there is a special range of valid topups just for this sim.
3) you have to pay something every 6 months to keep the sim live, and the minimum you can pay is £10 so it's at least £20 a year.
...... not that hot really. Most people voting are being misled.
patcho to brightonly
15 Apr 16#180
1) the sim is free, tho of course you will have to topup, to use at some point (i see nothing saying you have to topup to register, tho yes I would think it will be necessary)
2)You can use it to call and text, fact.
3)You don't have to topup every 6 months. You have to make a "chargeable event"
So there is only your first point that I partly agree with.

Yeah the credit you top up does not expire. I remember seeing it in the Three website too.
If I am not mistaken.....you can top up like a normal PAYG using their online or voucher and you don't have to purchase the add on bundles. So you will still have the amount you topped up and can send text messages etc once in a while to keep it active.
Why is it £15 minimum every 6 months? Or have I misunderstood something?
curridd
15 Apr 16#165
Alright boys & girls..
Just a quick question. On Three PAYG, I have in the past topped up by a fiver to get 500mb for the week I was there but upon looking on a link one of you provided it says that the 500mb last 'upto 48hrs'?! Would I be better sticking with my existing sim?
Great deal for 0p though. Head added! Thank you in advance for any and all responses
nathan18k to curridd
15 Apr 16#166

buglawton to curridd
15 Apr 16#168
Well there's this page http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Pay_As_You_Go/Mobile_broadband_tariff
but you can't be sure it applies exactly to the data rewards SIM.
There it says that a £2.99 topup will give you 500MB for up to 48 hours.
The next topup size is £10 for 1GB for up to 30 days.
BUT the above may not apply to this deal because under that it says:
With our new Data Reward plan, you can buy the following Add-ons:
2GB ( lasts up to 30 days) £15
5GB (lasts up to 30 days) £20
10GB (lasts up to 30 days) £25
So it's now beginning to look like £15 minimum spend every 6 months for the convenience of not begging Three for a new 'free' SIM every 6 months.
£1.50/month for 200MB 'free' data/month. Hmm, crafty!
Now I'm not sure this deal deserved all those upvotes. Downvoters to the rescue please!

Yeah I'm still waiting for my sim which I ordered last week. 3 can be hit and miss when it comes to their information and sometimes you need to try several times before you speak to someone who really understands their systems so will definitely try calling them to transfer my existing 3 number onto the new sim. 15 Apr 16#158

dip86 to nathan18k
15 Apr 16#160
3 informed me that porting number (whether already a 3 number or number from a different network) wasn't possible due a standard sim being a 'phone' type sim as opposed to a 'broadband' type sim. I doubt there are any physical differences between these however they probably virtually register in a different way on the network and have technical limitations in what functions they can currently apply onto their bb sims.
TazzzD
14 Apr 16#131
Right so this is what online chat told me:
"Our Data sim is configured to work only in Tablets and broadband devices, for phone we have other plan and sim available. Also, there are other technical aspects." He also mentioned that it can send and receive texts regardless but it depends on certain tablets if it can receive and send calls.
Personally I intend to use this in my GPS tracker which should work since I am only going to be sending the device texts every now and then. Also decent for someone who wants to use it in TomToms like mentioned by someone else or even Android car head units.

This all seems a bit confusing / contradictory to me.
From what I can tell, these sims are INTENDED for use in tablets / dongles for data only, which would explain why some people at Three seem to be saying you can't use them in a phone.
But in the mobile broadband price guide, it clearly states:
I'd also be interested to know if you can port your number into these sims (given that they're not intended to be used for calls).

I think it will work with the 200mb allowance once you registered on the Three website etc. You will need to top up if you use more than the 200mb.

Called into a 3UK shop today and they said the "Internet with legs" Sim could only be used in a dongle. However, I bought one on-line in February and it is working fine in my tablet - just made a call with it. I topped up with a Voucher - just ordered another Sim & I think the site said "top up with a voucher", perhaps other methods do not work.

200mb is pretty good for a base monthly allowance.
I rarely use over 500Mb a month, but then I don't have need to watch streaming video (such as films, or youtube) on the go and my music is local to my device (who needs more than 32GB of music locally anyway?)
As people say, perfect for google maps (but don't people use offline mapping tools?) and light browsing.

I used HERE offline maps in Greece last year and they were great. And now I don't bother getting a local sim when I'm away, as I can just about get away with the offline maps and using the hotel wifi in the evening to plan the next day. But the key problem I had was finding nearby restaurants when I was out - you can't really do that with an offline map. So being able to bring up google maps using a bit of data, you can find the nearby restaurants and also read their reviews. So just having a little data abroad can be a real bonus. 200mb certainly wouldn't cut it as my main data sim in the UK, I use a lot more than that.

Everyone knows Spain is a top destination for UK tourists and it's included. And hotel wifi isn't going to do anything unless you never stray more than 5 metres away from your hotel the whole time you are away, which might suit you but not many other people. I'd prefer to have a 200mb of data to use out and about :stuck_out_tongue:

Normally 200mb is rubbish. HOWEVER, it's perfect for a weeks holiday in europe where you want to use google maps to get around and maybe get a few restaurant reviews. Buying a data sim abroad is normally a hassle, sets you back at least 15-20 euros and who wants to waste the first day of their holiday standing in a mobile phone store? You can set this up in the UK before you leave and then start using it as soon as you touch down.

Their webchat told me last month that the data allowance you get with top-ups works for FAH too. Once used, it falls over to the roaming prices, not the domestic 321 prices. Mind you, the roaming prices are soooo cheap next to some of the other carriers.

Cheers OP. Heat added. Ordered. Traveling India in 2 months time. So can hopefully use this sim.
beware. I bought a £10 one. AND IT WILL NOT LOAD A TOP UP FOR CALLS OR TEXTS. You can only add a top up that is directly converted into data. Stupid and unhelpful, especially when the terms for the 200MB a month say you need to make a call or text every 6 months. 3 support tried to manually put on a normal top up for me, and the system won't allow it.

I can vouch for 3 when it comes to using it abroad. I bought a bolt on of £20 on payg and got 12gb. Face time / Skype worked great though normal video and music streaming couldn't cope oddly??? For browsing web anywhere it was slower than the UK but good enough. I will probably just go for the standard top up next time as it barely touched 500mb in the week I was there.

I recently used this in a feel at home destination, and at first was able to recieve calls etc. After few days, whenever someone tried calling me, it did not work.

Yes, I can confirm call divert is a good work around for voicemail, I'd never thought of it.
Just put 3 voicemail number:+447782333123
On Android: Settings, Call Forwarding,Voice call, choose which option you want. I choose "Forward when unreachable" and put that number above. ALL WOKING FINE, tested just now.

Have you actually tried receiving a voicemail on that phone number, and listening to it?

(1) Somebody mentioned voicemail doesn't work? Is this true? Can anyone verify? Thanks.
(2) For those who have ported a number IN successfully, what process did you use? Online form/email/livechat/phone?
(3) For those who have ported a number OUT successfully, what process did you use? Online form/email/livechat/phone?
Tethering works fine, one of my SIMs is always in MI-FI.
Has anyone tethered with this? I'd have thought it would be ok given it's primarily a data sim, but Three PAYG doesn't support tethering.
Thanks
When does the 200MB reset? Is it calendar month?
Also do you need to roam on a particular network or use any particular APN settings??
Thank you!!
Best ever SIM I had for ages; no top up required, 200MB free monthly, works all across EU Feel At Home . No need to make a call keep it active, as using free data counts as activity. One of my SIMs is 9 months now and never ever had a top up.
I'm not sure if you ever need to port back out.
Thanks in advance!
Thx
I never ever had any problems going to that page on iPhones, but Android is sometimes trickier. Don't know which phone you are using, but suspect Android...
I have not topped up yet, but I think the internet still works, it showed 200mb still available when I checked few days ago.
Mine is in a 1st gen Moto G.
I have got only like 40mb remaining. I'll let y'know if they charge way more in couple of days, if it comes to that.
Did they change the terms since it was launched?
The only package where normal PAYG beats this is £10 for a specific data amount plus calls/texts ... but there are better deals than that to be had with other providers, if it's not a sim with free 200MB that's of interest.
Anyone who uses data a lot, can choose different plans.

Thanks OP , also thanks for the tip to topup smaller amounts !
Mine works a treat all across EU and have 5 of them in total, so 1GB free
**EDIT** I get errors trying to top up. Anyone else?
How do I simply add a couple of £ credit? I click Top-Up and my cheapest option appears to be £15 for a months data!
And yes this is the Data Reward SIM that mentions 200MB free every month.
Mine SIM is 8 months now and never ever spent a penny, still active and still in my ipad for free 200 MB...
Take the time to read the terms and then get back to us.
Can you???
I have managed to get my sim working in a phone, and the free 200mb is confirmed and working, and I can receive calls.
I'm now trying to top-up via the three website, but the only options I get are for £15 (2gb) or £20 (5gb) or £25 (10gb)
I would like to add £10 and have it used for calls and texts. Any ideas how to do that? Is the easiest thing just to buy and apply a £10 pop-up card voucher from the shops?
Thank you all again
Settings -->..more networks-->Mobile Networks-->Access Point Names - You should be able to add a new one, fill the Name field and APN field (3Internet) - use defaults for everything i.e. leave it as it is.
what device are you using?
Change your apn manually to;
3internet
go to http://www.three.co.uk/freedata
It should now let you register.
Good luck.
You can't move Three number to Three.
They said they were looking into the problem with the activation site. I got tired of waiting and gave up but maybe they'll fix it soon now they're aware of the problem.
I am not on twitter, but maybe someone with a twitter account could ask their CS rep what the problem is ?
three.co.uk/freedata tells me I need to connect to the network, but it appears I can't do that without topping up.
I have rebooted and even reset my phone, but nothing seems to work.
Any thoughts / tips appreciated.
The offer to get 200mb extra has a Google play link that goes to a different app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freedomPop, but I can't find that app on the Play Store on my phone.
If you have no 3g signal, you'll need to find one to activate the SIM.
So, would you be kind enough to clarify...
- What app are you installing, as MyFreedomPop doesn't seem to appear in the Play Store?
- Are you really signing up 20 people to FreedomPop every month?
Thanks.
Do you really sign up 20 new people for FreedomPop every month?
I transferred my mum's number from the now defunct Post Office Mobile to this with no problems at all. Now she's got an iPhone 5S from one of the O2 Refresh deals on here I was also able to port out of this and into O2 with no problems there either.
All in One 20
12GB data
300 minutes
3000 texts£20
Have transferred 4 numbers of my family to three broadband sim, not a single problem. Took 24 hours to complete.
Works all fine, still have 200MB for free, calls cost as 1-2-3 tariff. Works abroad fine, now in France, can use all allowance here.More than happy after crappy FreedomPoooo service.
How do you go about getting a value for a number? Interested in seeing if any of my memorable numbers are valuable.
You try this already?
That was last week and so far so good. Still working fine for calls and texts and I'm still using free data.
But now when I look at my data allowance on line at My3 the "Total Free Data Allowance (MB)" is counting down... is that correct?
I thought that stayed showing 200 and just the "Remaining" figure above counted down?
I've got over a week to go before my refresh (hopefully) date & don't want to lose my monthly free data.
Though I'm a bit disappointed that they haven't called me back as promised today.
cheers people, some times you people explain it easier:)...................ive one sim in my laptop and one in a dual sim card phone:)
Pick any amount to top up, you'll be on 321 rates.
Does the free data work in the Feel At Home Countries if there is no credit on the SIM ??
200MB free data working fine. As she's a low user, this SIM will be great for her.
Would have preferred to have kept her on Post Office Mobile but obviously they're going down the pan like a lot of MVNOs these days so I'm just going to keep her on an MNO like Three from now on.
Call me cynical but a decent gold number is easy to establish and they could have a policy change about giving
pac codes out if they dont have to and if they think you wont leave three, then theyll ramp up the call costs theres
a lot of greed out there in society, three have history of it with welshing on the one plan deal.
Peace.
I have been using this SIM in my phone for the free data + 3p per minute calls + 2p texts
As I haven't yet dared to port my number, people have been calling my "old" SIM in a spare phone.
I don't think anyone has phoned this Three number - will I be charged if they do?
Thanks for your input.
But I will say that I chose not to, because some day I might find a better deal elsewhere and want to port my number out again.
My mate still hasn't received PAC code...
I'm using it so far in my phone without trouble but really wanted to port my number of 10 years+ to it.
Should I?
I have spoken with OFCOM last month and they said that providers can,but n o t o b l i g e d to provide PAC codes for data sim cards...Thats the truth, call them if you don't believe .
As for your mobile number, it's your number. I don't think they are allowed to deny you it should you wish to ask for a PAC to port out again.
I hadn't yet dared port my my main number to it.
I was all set to do so but read z18runway's post & now not so sure.
Things seem so mixed
Someone else has reported friends not being able to port out.
He added that i cannot port out this sim i mean this number. So he said this number is locked with this network and cant get PAC to use for any other network ? did anyone faced this problem.
Live chat is unavailable right now though.
When you input your mobile number, it'll be identified as a mbb mobile broadband sim. It'll give you options of topping up by 15, 20 or 30 but if you tap/click the arrow, there's options for 2, 5, 10 and so on. It's listed as "international cash add on" but just top up by whatever amount, and whatever usage is charged at 321 rates.
Hope that makes sense.
However this is the son which I did not port in a number, this is using the number that was given to me from Three.
That's mine. I've been using it here and there outdoors. Do all my data at home on WiFi. Started with 200mb.wish I'd noted my refresh date.
Thank you
I get a message saying "Tethering is not allowed on the Pay As You Go sims and please have a look at our Mobile Broadband sims".
However, aren't these sims, their Mobile Broadband sims?
Thanks OP.
I've just ordered 4 more sims for other devices.
It's hardly worth bothering with support, I suspect they'll say it's because it's a data sim.
Maybe it is, in my case.....seeing as my 123 sim is fine.
-No Voicemail
-No Three in Touch
-No Add-Ons (only data add on available)
-All calls routed through data connection (thats why some hear echoes)
-No 4G Voice
In my opinion, all this not worth free 200MB..
Cause what I've gathered then is that it's a data sim with free 200mb each month
-It's on 3's 321 pay and go rates
-You can port in
-You can port out
Are people making and receiving calls?
You're beautiful.
No voice mail
No add-ons (which include calls and texts)
Now have to port to another supplier and then port back!
Anyone else having this problem?
Ps. This is a number that I ported in from Virgin mobile into the Three Data sim and then ported out from the Data sim.
My mate tried to port out, called 4 times and spoke with 4 different assistants, but they said it is not possible to port out from data sim..same was the answer when escalated this by email...
Which I now realise is kind of a dealbreaker, as reception isn't as good in my house as I'd first thought.
Have ordered another sim to use in my spare phone in my car as traffic-aware satnav, am likely to try porting out of this one soon. Hope I'm allowed!
If this sim can be used to make and receive calls, text and data, iso it possible to port a number into this data reward sim..?
And another odd thing once I've had the 123 sim in I can still call that number even with the reward sim in!(both numbers work only reward sim in)
Edit ah that was call divert that I'd forgot about
It's enough data for what I need to do, it I need to do something more data heavy I will use freedompop sim.
These 200MB free is just a bait;you will spend on calls, txts and finally on internet as well. Clever marketing method, Three.
40mbps doesnt mean you lose all your data in 5 second unless you download something for 200mb
so if for e.g. you want to watch a video that is 10mb it will load the whole video in less than a second get it?
BTW data usage doesn't really have anything to do with speed. If I drink a glass of water, it doesn't really matter if it takes 1 second or 1 minute to come out of the tap, I still only drank one glass.
How long does it normally take for it to come through? Checked address, resent etc., no joy yet.
this is best using mobiwol which is a non rooting vpn which lets you limit data use down to individual apps
if you keep it for facebook messenger and csipsimple this could last the month depends how popular you are.
It's free voicemail, don't know how/if it will work with this sim but with a try
Edit: just noticed it's been suggested already
Useful to know - so it's a case of what is more important - 200MB free data a month, or Voicemail.
Does that work?
You cannot set it up (it asks for a pin which you have not put in) and customer services say to get a mobile sim in order to do this - so it looks like its back to the usual sim for me.
the easiest way to do this
is by porting to giffgaff if you already have a giffgaff account
you simply get your pac code from three
port it online on giffgaff (you dont even need a giffgaff sim)
then port it back to your new three sim its simple
and i think its the quickest way to do it
Anyone had a text?
Just ported a number in to this data reward sim, with dire warnings from customer service that the sim won't work in a phone after porting. We'll wait and see.
I've ported my number last month and yesterday was my renewal day so i can confirm that you still get the 200mb after porting your number
And i just found out that you can even buy addons
But at least all their info is pointing in the same direction!
I'm going to try porting in with a £2 topup ... if I don't get the reward after a month, I may just ditch my number and get a new data sim. Depends how much data I find myself using versus the minor aggro of ditching a number not many people use.
So, to answer your question, you CAN use this data in ANY kind of device (i.e. phone or tablet).
HTH
Have not got very far, but the first thing I notice is the following, which to me specifically states that you can use the data reward sim in any kind of device. Really? Have I got it wrong?
http://www.three.co.uk/_standalone/Link_Document?content_aid=1220457052786
Seems like it:
I tried it on a Windows 8 phone and it works fine. Not sure about W10, sorry.
Also, how do you get more free data per month than the 200mb? I remember you saying registering and downloading an application. I am not sure which comment it was, it was a while back. Sorry.
Haha answered my own question. I should have read the site first. But the main question is do they have a 30 day early warning period for you to cancel?
Will be ordering one now.
So do I have to cancel the trial services? When will I be able to do that? Can I cancel within few days after activating the sim card?
For time being I am happy with Freedom Pop free services as have 900MB free data every month.
here is the online link to port - thanks to previous posts suggesting this
I would like to hear from others, who transferred numbers,do they still have 200MB free after 1 month???
Might try again tomorrow and hope for a different person.
Tested,1-2-3 rates apply, you all people looking old plan details....
On the 1gb and 12gb sims, is it the same, 321?
That is obviously not true.
Also several users have confirmed, (me including) that it charges the normal 321 rate eventhough it might not say its on the 321 rate per say.
I didnt see it get added when Three took £10 off my card when registered a credit card with them.
200mb every month without the need to top up, must be better than needing to top up to get 150mb just once.
This data reward plan is better anyway as you get 200mb for free each month without having to top up plus the benefit of having 321 prices.
Looking forward to hear if anyone ported in a number and has kept the 200mb freebie or not?

*Please note: If you register a card using the Manage cards section of My3 from your computer, we'll automatically take a £10 payment from your card and add it to your account balance as credit.
Strange thing is, i was setting up my Three sim tonight and registered a login account on the Three website (My 3).
when i first logged in a saw I had 200mb free data. Then I registered a credit card for topping up purposes. When i went back into Data Allowance it said I had 200mb of data and £10 of Voucher Top Up Credit.
I didnt top up any money!
I sent a text and noticed my credit went down by 2p.
I wont be able to find out if Three charged my card £10 until it shows on my credit card statement maybe tomorrow
Has this happened to anyone else?
On second thoughts it wasn't obvious at the time so I think I complained to 3 and they gave me £5 free credit to say sorry
Nevertheless, there's quite a lot of non standard 07 numbers
Under the voice call charges, you are still being charged 3p per minute. I haven't tried it out myself but several other users have indeed confirmed its the 321 plan.
TalkTalk/Tiscali email does not work, probably security measure failures since they had major public security issues.
So anyone having email activation issues, change email from TitTalk
Have a mifi from ID mobile in here somewhere :man:
Thanks to all who offered suggestions and assistance.
http://www.smartmobilephonesolutions.com/content/how-to-fix-internet-android-mobile-data-connection
My handset is unlocked and I have received a welcome to 3 text on it, so that part is working. Mobile data is definitely turned on. I can't think what else might need to be changed to make it work..
Add as little as £2 credit to your account and get online for just 1p/MB. And this credit won’t expire because it only runs out when you use it up"
DAMN! Error page on wifi.... Stupid 3
Will await sim 2...
http://devicereg.three.hostedservice.net/
Again you'll probably have to type it. EDIT - no, that seems to stay ok so try clicking that.
three.co.uk/freedata
From the phone turn off wifi, turn on mobile data and go to the site. It won't burn any of your allowance. If you download the three app for checking your balance and all that guff then using it doesn't count against your allowance either.
So not sure if they've changed the process and no longer need to verify your e-mail address, that could explain the dead links people are seeing. Or maybe they know I'm genuine as I have three of these SIMs linked to the same e-mail address!

When I use mobile.three.co.uk I can buy ALL the current payg addons BUT its the old mobile broadband addons, but going to the full site its the upto date ones lol
Welcome to Tree
Mixed info comes from Three's CS about this...
Thank you for the info.
Already using NetGuard but it didn't seem to work properly (maybe something is misconfigured) and also was wondering if there were better ways
Thanks again!
Or download NetGuard and you can make that stop apps using mobile or wifi data. It's good for stopping some free apps, like ones from Amazon Underground, showing you adverts all the time. You don't need to be rooted.
Thanks!
Everyone's Sims still working as they should?
Just topped up with 2 quid credit (international roaming) and made a call and it all works just like it should.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/facebook-2/lite/
Have a look under Data Usuage as previously recommended.
hog...
Your thoughts anyone?
But few app updates will eat all data away, especially on android...
Put one in the daughters with £2 credit.
Went out all day yesterday (185MB of free data remaining and £2 credit)
Came back approx 10 hours later and noticed her balance was now 'Zero' with all of the 185MB of the remaining 200MB also gone too!
What other networks allow you a free sim without topping up?
I know giffgaff do a free sim but im sure you need to top up when registering.
Dont want to have to waste money on a sim that will be active for 1 day.
Cheers OP
Looks like Three will become my main number now..Well done!
When did you transfer your number?
Surely not block the number? Did they say if there's a way it can be unblocked?
Did you speak to a supervisor or one of their front line staff at the stores?
I think if there was systems in place it would detect what you were using as soon as you used it.
Registered, got my free allowance.
Signed up for Free Deezer for 6 months.
That's my WhatsApp and music sorted for bank holiday weekends and summer holidays :sunglasses:
Utter tripe. Take no notice.
EDIT - looks like they can tell what device you are using http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/opinion/internet/three-blocks-sim-only-pay-monthly-account-from-use-with-ipad-3368856/ - maybe best not to put too much credit on your mobile data SIM until it's clear what will happen
Thanks for registering for your free 200MB data. We've noticed that you haven't started using it, so just wanted to check that everything is OK?
True, finding a three CS who knows what they're actually talking about is almost impossible.
To talk to Three CS is same as banging a wall with your head...
if you accidentally blaze through your 200MB will you be charged per MB for any extra data? (so that £2 will go very quickly)
or does the internet data stop working once it reaches 200MB?
And no wonder,as this is data sim and none of the UK mobile network would port number to data sim and leave it as a data sim...oh well. I got nice number from Three with this data sim so might even use it...but for data I will continue to use my FreedomPop sim in iPad.
If freedompop can get it from them and still give twice as much away, data must be cheap.
I just had a look at mine, it still says 200mb. Although I did expect some might have been used up.
Monitor it and if it continues to go down, then there's something shady by Three.....
Only issue is that I wanted to transfer my three PAYG number to this sim card but apparently 3 PAYG to 3 PAYG transfer is not possible...
Any idea?
Thank you
See if you can navigate to any other webpages other than Three website. If so, then its successful.
Edit: Maybe if I read the pamphlet that came with the SIM. registered at the web site and now waiting for the 200MB to appear.
Edit no.2 Data has arrived. Thanks OP
Click on that and then it'll open up the email in a new tab, and try pressing the confirmation again.
If that does not work, you may need to try registering again or talk to Three.
Otherwise, you can register your sim for mythree account and check the balance whilst on wifi etc.

We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. The URL may be misspelled or the page you're looking for is no longer available.
It is reasonable as most other companies have minimum £5.
This tells you all you need to know - put a number in the cost calculator at the bottom.
http://www.voipfone.co.uk/prices_new.php
For Delight, Vectone etc it tells you 20p per min, for "normal" numbers it tells you 10p. For my 3 data sim, it tells me 10p.
So as far as I am concerned, it is as good as a normal UK moblile number.
Begins '07'
Followed instructions as per the post from hgthompson.
Sim registered, 200MB free data showing, & topped up £2 online via CC.
No expiry of cash credit as long as one chargeable action made in a 6 month period.
200MB free data allowance replenished every month.
All working fine.
Phone rings out and receives calls.
Phone sends & receives text messages.
All at the 321 rate.
Happy days! :-)
I know they deal with many calls and they might be new etc, but still.
Had a chat with Three advisor and they confirmed that this card won't accept or let make calls. Only texts can be sent/received.
People in the other thread basically said it was a no-go. They won't port a phone SIM to a broadband SIM.
Seems no one knows what these sims do!
When. Ordered the order page said 'due to high demand there could be a delay' seems like there's no system and they just post them out randomly.
Fab sim.
Thanks to the op, heat added.
I intend dual siming freedompop and this 3 sim if it eventually comes.
It's not letting me download it from play store and I cannot find it in the page that you have linked in, it only suggests playstore ....
Install it from Freedom Pop page (only this way you be awarded 200Mb) but before that delete one you have. 200MB free guaranteed every month, doing this for 4th month in a row....
Is it the messaging one ?
A link to it would be very helpful please.
But for internet it is amazing! 1GB for free every month easily and works like a charm in my ipad...
Presumably if we sacrifice our old numbers and don't port in there's no problem using it as a phone sim. But not really worth the hassle of changing number now and possibly having to change number when we leave in future years, for max £2 per month benefit ...
Did you ask to speak to a supervisor to see if it is possible? Or is it not allowed to be ported because of Three's network system rules?
First thing, operator accepted PAC, but just in few moments she told me there is a problem...has to speak with someone and put me on hold. After 11minutes wait , have been told porting number is impossible as this is data sim only.
I guess we won't know until someone tries.
I've not activated it yet but am I right in thinking that this 200mb of free data is reoccurring every month without ever topping up?
Or is it just like the last one that was posted up here where it was preloaded with 200mb of data that lasted for 30 days after activating the sim and then you had to top up?
So who's going to be the first to risk porting their old number in
And do we have Ofcom rights to port our numbers back out of these sims if things change in the future, or are we less protected than with sims intended for phones?
I ordered a few days ago, in putted my email address, but haven't received an email confirming my order....
Thanks for testing and reporting back to us with your detailed reply
For what it's worth, I ordered mine at the beginning of the week and got it today. I was amazed how quickly it came, given that other people have waited longer and the three website warned me that it could take a couple of weeks.
I've not fired mine up yet, trying to find out if it's possible- and safe in the longer term - to port my mobile number onto it.
I am thinking of going to a three store to see if they have some. I guess they'll try make me get the one with £10 top up :disappointed:
Are they doing special delivery to certain area?
i could receive a phone calls using the new sim, however iam unsure can my 321 sim number be transferred over. has any1 tried it yet ?
Would this new sim give you 200mb a month (free) + 100mb for topping up?
Or can you use it in a smartphone for standard voice calls and texts?
Is data working without having to top Up?
Speed test (Huawei E3131 3G dongle):
http://www.speedtest.net/result/5265769522.png
For me 7x faster than Giff Gaff! (~300 kbps at this hour)
A three customer service representative said it is possible. However, some users have said its not possible since its a Data only sim.
Looking at the website I have my doubts.
This looks like a data only sim to me for use in tablets.
If you use it on your phone, then it may work as a regular phone supports call and texts. Don't take my work for it though. I will let you know once I receive the sim and try it out.
(OK - so I lied. There's no prize. But am I the only one that doesn't understand WTF the above post means?)
Good deal, voted hot !
Horses for courses
A Michael Bay movie included too?
so its £20 a month on a 1 month contract with 30GB personal hotspot.
thanks to qwerta369
I tried that but it says my sim isn't eligible but then goes on to say if I top up it will work - a little bit confusing.?
I have an old iPhone 5C I want to give to my daughter with a 'pay as you go' SIM card in it.
Could I use this sim?
I've read somewhere where people have said this is a 'data only' SIM card and can't be used for standard voice calls on a mobile. Is this right?
Thanks in advance.
ive ordered the sim, so hopefully i can just transfer my number across
So if the data is being used, it keeps the sim active by default?
However the 123 credit never expired according to MyThree account.
200mb free data every time I top up then I use my credit
You can top up but not buy the addons at that point.
2. I already quoted you about this. You can send and receive calls and texts. You can top-up a minimum of £2 using International Cash option - this goes on your credit.
3. As mentioned above, it's a chargeable event, so just a 2p text will do it.
Should've gone to Specsavers.
2)You can use it to call and text, fact.
3)You don't have to topup every 6 months. You have to make a "chargeable event"
So there is only your first point that I partly agree with.
Did anyone get an email confirmation when they ordered the sim? Or just a confirmation on the website after submitted the order?

Why is it £15 minimum every 6 months? Or have I misunderstood something?
Just a quick question. On Three PAYG, I have in the past topped up by a fiver to get 500mb for the week I was there but upon looking on a link one of you provided it says that the 500mb last 'upto 48hrs'?! Would I be better sticking with my existing sim?
Great deal for 0p though. Head added! Thank you in advance for any and all responses
http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Pay_As_You_Go/Mobile_broadband_tariff
but you can't be sure it applies exactly to the data rewards SIM.

Would I be able to bring in my old number to this new Data sim? I would be using it for occasional texting

Yes , you can always do that, You'll need to take the PAC code from previous network and we will transfer it to Three in 24 Hours
I recrecentlyent read EE is doing something similar, you have to really dig in their website to find something - information overload on their site
I have zero engineering, and very little programming, experience, but this is something someone else may want to take up.
This is a great deal for me, Sim ordered.
have a sim-free mifi so almost sounds too good to be true - free data?!
"On Three’s Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Broadband Data Reward plans, you:
· get 200MB of Free data every month (registration required)
· browse the web for as little as 1p/MB
· have the flexibility to top-up from as little as £2
· can make calls & send texts if your device allows – 3p/min & 2p/text
· get great value bundles / add-ons
"
With 200 - 400mb it should be fine for checking emails, a few tweets and a bit of light browsing whilst on the go (ie checking news / weather / travel updates). Obviously, you'll want to put off any app updates or big downloads until you're using wifi.
As has already been said, it really is "horses for courses" and this deal isn't going to appeal to anyone with moderate to high mobile internet usage.
No forced ads, which is a good thing (remember Ovivo?).
I use it for data, calls and sms.
Good riddance to FreedomPop anyway, I'd be more than happy to pay 3p per minute for calls rather than use their god awful VoIP network
200MB is woeful and 1p per MB beyond that means it could end up quite expensive.
Nice ploy by 3 though to lure people in with the free 200MB.
Just need to unlock my POC phone first!

So call is possible if you use it in a phone instead of mifi devices?

From what I can tell, these sims are INTENDED for use in tablets / dongles for data only, which would explain why some people at Three seem to be saying you can't use them in a phone.
But in the mobile broadband price guide, it clearly states:
I'd also be interested to know if you can port your number into these sims (given that they're not intended to be used for calls).
£30 direct, £28 on eBay. used to be over £70
http://store.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/Plans?includedInternetAllowanceInMB=12GB
Support also told me ALL their Sims use the mobile network for calls and texts including this one.
and just do a £2.99 top up after 6 months to keep it ?
http://www.three.co.uk/Support/pay_as_you_go/Mobile_broadband_tariff
or order a new one if they are still giving them away
I rarely use over 500Mb a month, but then I don't have need to watch streaming video (such as films, or youtube) on the go and my music is local to my device (who needs more than 32GB of music locally anyway?)
As people say, perfect for google maps (but don't people use offline mapping tools?) and light browsing.
Heat added.
also 1GB data  on this sim worked out to be £20
Everyone knows Spain is a top destination for UK tourists and it's included. And hotel wifi isn't going to do anything unless you never stray more than 5 metres away from your hotel the whole time you are away, which might suit you but not many other people. I'd prefer to have a 200mb of data to use out and about :stuck_out_tongue:
Totally agree!
BTW most hotels, restaurants have free wifi...
They'll either drop the allowance to 50mb or up the price.
no thanks.
My bill went from £15 £30 this month. No warning!!! Be careful with Three network.
I don't understand how people see these 200MB as a deal....
-200MB free they give every month.
-Register 20 friends - 200MB permanently every month.
-Each month register their app on Android(delete and repeat same registration each month) - 200MB
Also can get 500MB from friends...And their internet works just fine. Happy with sim in my ipad .
Under their plan details for "Data Reward SIM Preloaded with 1GB data", it says:
Voice Call Charges.
Three to other UK mobile:
3p/min
Other Charges.
UK Text Messages:
2p/SMS
Internet Browsing (out of bundle):
1p/MB
So the Data sims are under their 123 PAYG?
Perhaps someone with the relevant knowledge (not 'i think...', 'Surely it must mean...' etc.) could make a post that states the facts and clears a lot of the fog around this deal?
Hot for the deal btw, free 200mb p/m while roaming abroad has got to be good.
To avoid any scared with unexpectedly high bills, this is the way to go. Heated.
If so then anybody who spends a tenner a month would be better off doing two £5 top-ups via My Three and having 300mb of data.
This could end up being very expensive!
No thanks.....
