Mower was priced at £99.99 in the aisle but when I got through the till it was scanning at £74. Excellent price for a Self-Propelled mower.

98cc. It will struggle with long grass and going up slopes.

Why does it say Petrol mower if it's self propelled?

Just means the wheels are driven by the engine so you don't have to push it.

Has anyone actually used one of these? Yes it's cheap but this thing will struggle with longer grass and I don't mean overgrown stuff, the fact it's self propelling will cut down its blade power even more.
It's does get decent reviews so I could be wrong lol.

I got mine a few years ago for £65 thanks to HUKD.
Starts first time, even after winter. Ignore the number of presses on the starter bulb thing - go for at least 8-12 and keep your finger near it for a few seconds after starting as it'll probably need another press to keep it going. From then on runs fine, just take it slower through long grass. Mine's only conked out due to uneven ground where it's hit the soil.
I do have the self propelled one but having a small garden I rarely bother using the feature unless I'm in a tight corner, even then you have to be gentle otherwise the wheelspin will ruin your grass. And yes, even for a small garden it's so quick to use this mower compared to dragging cables everywhere for an electric and it no longer feels like a chore.
Just remembered I did adjust the governer thing a couple of years back to increase the idle speed a little, that's probably why I find it works well even on the longer grass.

Used to own one of these, struggled a lot with thick grass. Once you manage to get the grass cut short, keep it short and you won't have a problem with this machine. Have recently upgraded to the Aldi self propelled lawnmower which has a bit more power and a decent Briggs and Stratton engine.
