What an odd none deal this is.....cheap toaster than is only a tenner, £2 saving countered by a collection charge of £2.

4 slice toasters tend to be a bit slower in toasting than most 2 slice toasters but I don't find it a huge issue

I bought purple toaster and kettle about a month ago for this price and they are ace! great value and bread is evenly toasted even when you use one slice. no idea why I got purple because I can't find accessories to go with it lol. heat

how is this relevant here? Assuming this 4 slice toaster is the same power as a 2 slice toaster (it may not be), then the heat will be spread over a bigger area, so yes, it might be slower. Not sure how your equation shows this though. Would be delighted to hear the explanation.

I say we boycott companies that charge for a click and collect such as this when most companies are free.

7 Apr 16#31
I say you add a product with whatever value is needed to take it over the £30 in this case £22.
When you collect refuse the £22 item which is then refunded to your card.
I agree you shouldn't have to pay to collect but we must play them at their own game.

See the thing is, Tesco have large debts. We should boycott them not because of a poxy click and collect charge but rather because of the way they treat their suppliers. It's their suppliers, like farmers, who they have a stranglehold over and that's where they'll most likely be looking to save more money.

In order to allow for a possible 8 heating elements to be active at once ( 4 slices of toast , 2 elements each) they have to reduce the wattage of the elements otherwise they will exceed the 13amp maximum from a standard socket. This makes it toast slower.
In a 2 slice toaster you can have higher rated heating elements as only a maximum of 4 elements will run at a time.
drpsg
7 Apr 16#23
So do we know if a 2 and 4 slice toaster are the same power? Maybe if we only use 2 slices of toast those elements run at a higher power than if using 4 slices, when they reduce down. I doubt it'll be quicker to use a 2 slice twice than a 4 slice once if you want 4 slices, but I haven't tried it.
mcintg to drpsg
7 Apr 16#24
The 4 slice toaster we have certainly doesn't up the power to the elements when only 2 slices are toasted, I'm not sure if it could be done in reality as how hot the element gets depends on the thickness of the element wire. It does take longer than the 2 slice toasters we've had, but it's not a huge issue.

Try posting some deals, getting some badges after your name and perhaps...just perhaps we might get some balance to your argument. Until then, as far as I am concerned firstly you have no credance to your argument, and secondly regardless of whether you found it amusing or not, several others did and I do contribute adding balance to comments :man:
But, let's for a moment consider your [contribution] to HUKD....cannot say I am keen on them personally myself, but was this really necessary?

I appreciate the need you felt to browse my profile, despite the apparent non-contributory nature of my account <3 IMO there's nothing wrong with a bit of banter, which is especially true for valid critique of an item - my issue arises when a useless comment gets upvoted to the top of the page which removes the spot from a more informative post which would otherwise have the top comment spot.
Especially annoying when the comment spreads disinformation. I see no reason as to why a 4-slice toaster would operate any slower than a 2-slice toaster, considering things such as resistors exist.

I think you need to read what strawmanning means. We have already discussed my entirely useless comment (is highlighting your own 'useless' comments as an example of pot calling kettle black considered strawmanning to you btw? I really am struggling to fathom out your definition) , but if you feel my responses are going totally off track by giving different propositions then clearly we are not done.......
So let us try again shall we.
My entirely useless comment does not fill the top spot, I already explained it does not.
Further to this, if you feel that you know better on how HUKD is run and have a problem with the 'like' comment structuring and feel humour (which others have 'liked'..literally) has no place here or in any thread then you are barking up the wrong tree and would do much better complaining about it to the mods.
Meanwhile I will go on posting comments as I feel, within the confides of the terms and conditions outlayed on HUKD...whether that be offering useful advice or posting deals or for that matter posting humourous quips.
I hope to see you around, contributing to this forum.

Pay £2 extra to travel to their store to collect my order. :smirk:
I'm already paying fuel costs to go collect my order, I'm certainly not going to pay another £2 to walk into a Tesco store.
I should be charging Tesco for my custom, customers are free to choose where to shop. Tesco should feel privileged that customers choose to shop at their stores, Tesco shouldn't be charging their customers.
I've stopped using Tesco since the £2 charge, ebay, Amazon & Currys deliver my goods to my front door for FREE.

Basically often when you order to an express store, the item has to be delivered there. Hence there's a cost. For Tesco that cost must be peanuts though I imagine.

I wouldn't mind if in-store pickup was changed to make it only to an Extra (free collection), though I guess that won't happen. My logic being that Extra stores will have more available stock instore.
I've only collected two orders from Tesco Direct (right before the £2 charge) and Yodel delivered them to my Express (nearest Extra is a 1.5 miles away). I suppose it's that, and the labelling and packaging, we're paying for.

The kettles and toasters were £20 each at some stage as looked at the price of the white ones and they say they were 20 pound therefore think the 10 pound pricecwas a sale price and a further 2 pound off - people moaning about the 2 pound collection fee but they are delivered to store. I ordered a blue toaster and blue toaster and blue blender all for 26 pounds and a red blender for another 10 = total price 36 so free delivery to store.
