Popped into Asda in South Bank, Middlesbrough earlier to buy some Leeks and noticed this shelf full of single malt whisky reduced, ps haig club was £25
Talisker 10 year old £20
Jura prophecy £20
Haigh club £25
Glenlivet 10 year old £20
All bargains not seen Talisker that cheap in years and never seen haig club reduced below around £35. I believe Jura prophecy usually retails for £50.

Any of these have a peat sort of flavour?
Had the Bushmills 10 yr old from the Amazon offer a few weeks back and it was a really nice dram.

The Jura prophecy is heavily peated and the Talisker is also a peated whisky so your in luck

Thank you very much, now I need to hope it is national and not just limited to your store, shall be keeping an eye on this thread as it is not that price online unfortunately, or I'd have ordered a whole shelf full :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm fairly sure it's a local only deal although I believe there is a few store specific whisky bargains about at asda at the moment

Always wanted to try The Haig, always put off by the price so hope it's in my local.

It's had a lot of bad reviews - 1.5/5 on masterofmalt with over 200 reviews. I haven't tried it but was put off after reading some of them, seems they spend a lot on advertising

That's my fear.... I do like the bottle though. It's hard justifying £40 -£50 on marketing when there are sooo many solid contenders in the £20-£30 bracket. The original Jura Origin is a staple in my cupboard, not nothing flashy but a nice drink.

I've just opened the haig and had a dram, not overly impressed, quite bland, almost doesn't taste like whisky. Very strange.

I had Haig Club at a wedding last year as it was the only malt they had. Smelled ok, tasted absolutely rotten. Wouldn't ever have it again. Talisker and Jura very nice and peaty, Glenlivet smooth and easy drinking

Is it really Jura Prophecy? normally sells for £50ish.. though I did note that Adsa has had it for sale at £40 for a couple of weeks now, which I though was pretty good in itself...

Good point, more likely to be superstition or the 10. If it is prophecy then I need to get on my bike

No it's definately the prophecy, had £40 crossed out on it, hence why I bought 3 of them

I tried it at the Whiskey Show in London a few years ago, the only one at the show that was served with appletiser by default. Not a fan.

A bloke working in Asda told me that they are having a stock line reduction and they should be lots of alcohol reduced in coming weeks. Unfortunately my Asda don't stock a great deal to start with :disappointed:

Woah, I haven't seen Glenlivet 12 on store shelves in ages, and for such a great price as well! Its killing me seeing all those bottles and not being able to buy any. Love the stuff, but all I can find in my area is Glenlivet Founders Reserve, which isn't worth drinking IMO..

6 bottles (well, 4 after I bought 2) of Glenlivet 12 at Asda Burton on Trent today. At £20 it's cheaper than the far inferior Founders Reserve, and is no longer being made. Absolute steal.
