If you're a Star Wars fan, I can't stress how much the amazing sound and visuals add to this game. I've been playing on and off since it came out, and yet there are still moments in every game where I see something and go "Wow!". The old "It's like being in a movie!" cliche is mis-used a lot, but for once it's true here.
This is a great price for a great game.

I've started and walked away from loads of better reviewed games, but keep playing this. It's a shame it got reviewed on what it hasn't got, rather than what it has/will. It's a sight better than the Doom multiplayer after playing the Beta, that's for sure. People will have to wait to find out what their opinion is from Angry Joe on that one first though.

Shocking Multiplayer game, looks fantastic but there's very little to keep it going and very few maps, imagine it'll be alot better with dlc

I don't care if it's 20 pound, all the build up once it was released and again the game is average at best, sold mine after 2 weeks.repetative garbage.the golden age of gaming has truly gone .sorry cold.

I would have to disagree with that. More like gone are the days where people can just sit back and enjoy a game for what it is. The golden age for me was the 80s/90s. Games like Streets Of Rage, Mortal Kombat, even Mario. Repetative, no story, no extra content, no updates, still awesome. Imagine this game was in an arcade. People would pump pounds into it all day long.

Thanks for this detailed reply. I just managed to snag a brand new copy on ebay for £12 so I guess we'll see how I get on with it. I realised after my earlier comment that it has local multiplayer, which I didn't know before, so it means I can have a go on that with my kids.
Cheers.

I get the resale point but for a game which is this low price resale is going to be very low in a few months/years.
Personal preference I guess.
No resale value? And most people prefer a physical copy, unless there is a big price difference that makes a digital copy a no brainer.

this is a bit different to that. you do end up getting killed a lot, but everyone does, even the best players. which maybe why a lot of hardcore gamers don't like it. i am usually rubbish at games like COD or Battlefield due to not having hours to sink into them. This game is a bit different in that although you start with hardly any guns or anything, you can still easily get kills and do stuff. It's quick paced 'lives' so you can expect to die a lot. My kill/death ratio is usually 50/50 on here whereas in COD its about 10 deaths for every kill i get lol.
I know what you mean about multiplayer games. I generally like stories. Games like Alan Wake, Wolfenstein and Dead Rising are among my faves but Battlefront is my most played game at the minute.
I'm not saying buy it to you mind, as i do enjoy online shooters even though I'm generally pants at them.

I can't be the only one who hates multiplayer as I'm so crap at it!
I've completed hundreds of single player games on regular or hard difficulty, but as soon as I launch into a multiplayer game I spend an hour running around getting blasted to pieces, ending up at the bottom of every leader board.. I really don't see the appeal, and wish developers would cater better for single players - I'd love to play a story based SW battlefront campaign

If you want a single player game, I would definately not bother. There is a tutorial and horde mode and really, that's it. It's very much just a multiplayer game.
It is still a great recreation though. Very very authentic and great attention to detail. The graphics and sounds are amazing. I still get blown away when in a battle, blasting away and an x-wing flies overhead on a strafing run.
I can recommend a youtube video on it. Its 'before you buy Star Wars Battlefront'. I think the video is by Gameranx. its a positive look at the game and takes all it's faults into account without deciding it's bad before actually reviewing it. (notice how many people **** it off without actually playing it?)
I do stress though, there is no single player, no story. The multiplayer levelling up could be deeper, but im a casual gamer and for an hour or two at a time, its perfect.

I don't really do multiplayer so I'm looking forward to Doom far more. Is Battlefront worth buying for a single-player experience? I've heard lots of things about how sparse the single-player content is, but it looks like a brilliant Star Wars recreation so I'm thinking I might give it a try once it hits a tenner or so.

This game was a bit meh when it first came out, however the updates released and the upcoming maps mean i've gone back to it more or less full time now.

Any reason the below went so cold at £17.99 (now £16.99) though? A few £ cheaper and for me I prefer to not mess around with discs.
