Agree about gimmicky controls. feel free to include them but give us a pad if that's what we've had for 30 years. I imagine it's like trying to drive a car without a steering wheel

I'm glad I came on here and read the comments about the controls. I struggle enough trying to get kirby out of the way of danger on the rainbow brush, that game is frustrating enough without trying to fight foxes X Wing too lol
Its cheaper buying it through The Game Collection in Rakuten

If they removed the Star Fox branding it would not be polarising, it would be a laughing stock.

it seems weird and extremely annoying controls have ruined this game.also the whole game feels and looks like a remaster version of a decade old game.
love Nintendo and own most their systems including Wii U but this one is a big mess.
I don't understand why they insist on re-inventing the wheels, why they want to shove motion controlls and wacky gimmicks to players.
it worked for them once with Wii but it's time to let it go.
I really hope they don't repeat same mistakes with the NX.
just make high quality games and focus on that instead of wasting time on these annoying gimmicks.

Two polarising camps with this game it seems. A lot is dependent on how you adjust to the control scheme. I adjusted very very quickly but clearly there are a lot of people who didn't or can't adjust to it. It's certainly not an easy game to adjust to by any means and the wider question is whether people should adjust to it.
My personal take is I love the new freedom of aiming - particularly in tight spots which would have been impossible to do 'well' with a 'normal' control scheme.
I should mention that this is a game which demands a higher level of concentration than other games too.

I'm a massive star fox fan and I can honestly say I've loved every moment of this game.

To each their own. I'm finding it superb, it's quite challenging to.
I didn't think I'd like the controls either but after an hour or two I'm managing. I think they'll grow on me more yet... Already I'm finding it hard to go back to 64 version because of the lack of control.
I doubt they will ever patch any other control scheme into this however... The gamepad is used extensively in this game making it essential.

I think that Nintendo were genuinely trying to give people a new type of gaming experience here. It's clearly polarised opinion, from those that think it's awesome, to those that thinks it sucks - along with all of those that haven't actually played it but are happy to play vicariously through others. So many games these days look and feel pretty much the same, I certainly applaud their effort in trying something new - where so many developers are happy to grab the low hanging fruit. I have a copy, but I haven't had the chance to play it yet! I'm looking forward to it though :-) Heat for the price though. CEX will give you a £30 voucher for it (which is £31 if you have a CEX and Game locally).

A patch with Wii pro controller support would make this a buy for me, not sure I like been tied into one control scheme.

Oooo not good, is it just flying or is there a third person part to?? I dont think id get used to it, I had to walk really slowly on black ops and aim slow to! i do love the gamepad though, flawless connection to the console!!

Gamepad is required on this game unfortunately , so you can't use a controller, it uses a mix of motion controls/normal controls and feels quite weird. Couple of levels in and starting to get used to it!

For those struggling to play it - try not to fight the controls in the beginning. It started to click for me after about 30 minutes when I focused more on the GamePad and then glanced up at the screen at certain sections to assist my maneuvering. You don't have to force yourself to look at the TV and then glance down at the GamePad every now and then.

Buy a gamepad, or use wii ones if you own one, I find FPS are hard to use on Gamepad for some reason!! im used to inverted controls think thats partly the cause
