It will be free on PS4 soon enough. Techincally the PS3 and PS4 games are different.

That's for the preowned limited edition PS3 game NOT the brand new PS4 game, which is £17.49 (GameSeek), the site doesn't even provide stock availability for a brand new instore physical copy of the PS4 game.

They should work as long as they are from the same region (PAL save works on PAL game) & the same platform (PS4 save works on PS4). I think this might be the one game I would actually get again on a different platform - I played it previously on the PS3 without the DLCs.

Not necessarily, if the game id for digital and physical is the same then yes it'll work, otherwise no.
Great game, but been on sale for nearly 2 weeks. @Elevation, if there wasn't a consolidated thread I guarantee somebody would post 50+ separate 'deals'.
