I Think the Aldi & Lidl offerings are better value as they are double bevel sliding versions, worth the extra money imo.

Have the evolution rage circular saw and for the money it's absolutely superb. For those in doubt check the reviews.

Can't comment on the quality of the Aldi or Lidl one but returning power tools is a bit of a nightmare last time I checked. Those extra metre long drills bits they sell from time to time are handy though!

I've used one of these saws for several years, it is a really good tool and £50 is a very good price (I think I paid £99 for a package that included a very good circular saw from the same manufacturer).

Yeah Screwfix are very sneaky in that they sort the reviews "High - Low" by default so unless you re-order the reviews you only get to see the most positive ones.

I noticed this too, but all referring to 110v who are generally guys who are used to to end spec saws

I've had this for over a year now, good bit of kit for rough cuts like framing etc. Seeing if I can get away with sneaking the Aldi sliding mitre into the house as I've got skirting to cut that's too big for this.

Any other time I'd say to grab this, but due to the Aldi and lidl sliders out soon for just £30 more, I'd say to go for that instead as down the line you might find yourself having to buy a slider later anyway and it'll save you.

Decent price if that's all you need but I really think at some time most people will regret not getting a sliding one for much longer cuts - I certainly did. One like I got coming up shortly at Lidl for £79.99 (already posted I think).

Guy on my job has one of these I have used it really good for the money and a slider. I would say for an extra £30 it's a no brainer it's a much more versatile tool.

Unfortunately it's currently out of stock I will be getting one when they get them again.

Different products. This product is a smaller simpler saw but with an expensive Japanese blade that cuts many different materials the Aldi/Lidl offerings are normally for use with natural and artificial wood and light plastics but do rough cuts fast. Iv'e got the larger Evolution saw and the quality of the product even the Chinese made saw itself is much better than the Lidl and Aldi offerings which are low end saws. Those are perfectly fine for wood which is an easy soft material to work with. I think someone has already reported that the guard on his Lidl or Aldi saw broke and now quite dangerous to use. Some of the cheaper models only have flimsy transparent guards. If you actually slipped and pushed the guard towards the blade it would probably instantly cut through it and start cutting straight into your arm etc. Both great value products though and both fit for their intended purpose.

aldi online have a compound sliding mitre saw for £79.99 plus a three year warranty for an extra £30 I would go for it,and not the fixed mitre saw.

Yes, though the laminate will flake off if you apply too much pressure

Seems like a good deal, but I will point out you can get a refurbished sliding mitre version for this sort of money from the Evolution ebay outlet. Not everyone will want refurbed but just making people aware.

​Only if the boards are less than 120mm wide.

Not suitable for single cut in 'normal' laminate as the planks are too wide, however you can always cut and flip/turn (turn recommended or you will get splintering)

(On the splintering front a quick line of masking tape helps stop in)

I personally would hold out and get the titan sliding, or better so the rage3 at £149.99 with 255mm cut ;-)

All about budget. This is a cracking price for this product tho so hot.

I purchased the Evolution 210 sliding version, it is usually around £149 at screw-down although they often run offers at £99 however the one I found was on flea bay sold by Evolution as a "refurb" although the one I received looked as though it had never been used. 100% fantastic delivered for under £50! just done 6" skirting and it was brilliant. Highly recommended.
But definitely go for sliding version.

good price, BUT ........ buy a chop saw without a slide on it and you will soon regret not spending more.

Got the Aldi one. 3 year warranty and it was recommended by a carpenter also getting one in Aldi.

They are both very good for the money. This is a nice saw which cuts wood, plastic and metal, ideal for things like picture framing. The Aldi (and similar Lidl) ones are a little more expensive but have a sliding mechanism for longer cuts (such as skirting boards - you can still use this one for skirting boards by turning the board over & making two cuts). So, it just depends what you need the saw to do: there is no poor choice for the money.

Aldi is double bevel, I think the Lidl one is a single bevel sliding mitre.
