Both sizes are Read & Write speeds: up to 550 MB/s & 500 MB/s

Nothing to see here, this is the normal price now. In fact SSD prices have stagnated yet again.

Yes. I regret not buying one at the end of last year.
I'm holding out for a 850 evo 1tb sub £200 but haven't seen much in four months (amazon fr maybe had £199). The amount of times I check now is getting ridiculous. The sandisk doesn't really get me going at £160/170.
Come on Samsung. Help a brother out.

I think we are splitting hairs. In general use, you won't be able to notice the difference in performance. Chrome starts in 0.01 seconds faster with the EVO? The fact that you have to benchmark them proves the pudding. The big difference is the perception of quality, and of course the warranty. You pay your money, you take your choice.
What sort of latency you talking about ?

I'm really torn between just pulling the trigger on this or waiting for a deal on a 500GB Samsung. It's just the additional 2 years of warranty provided by Samsung really is enticing.

The access latency is nearly double on the ultra 2 versus the Samsung. Not all tests can be done very well with just throughput checks.

Updated
In next few days I'll add Sansdisk plus 120GB for comparison.
After that I'll check how much processor matters as I'm going to upgrade i5 to i7
As my previous benchmark shows it matters a little.

I'm an idiot I'm afraid.
Benchmark results I've posted are wrong - I've turned down my CPU to ratio x16
These are recent results CPU running on the full speed (i5-3470)

And mine:
I accidentally voted hot on this deal earlier, it's not. As per post #1 this is normal price. I bought mine for £72 a coupla weeks back (ebay 20%)...do I have a time machine? would I pay £90? the answer to both is NO.

Wow, not too much in it really between the two. I guess it comes down to reliability or personal preference.

Samsung or sandisk ultra II to be pedantic... but nice to have a comparison...

Not entirely fair to make a direct comparison like that though as they're not the same size. I'm sure if you had a Evo 840 in 480Gb the difference would be larger.
That being said, real world use would be unnoticeable differences.
