I sent mine back last week it wouldn't let me transfer 50gb of data across, tried everything, fail! I then bought the slower Samsung alternative- no problem.

HUKD stands for hot uk deals not hot usb killer deals. I wish people would stop spam posting these things.

They do run a bit warm but I've had one plugged in to a device , running an OS 24/7 for 3 months and it works great no issues .Heat added ;-)

When you say "a bit warm", how warm are we talking?

As an OS drive? You better be sure that OS isn't your main OS! These fail rather quickly when used that intensively.

Great for adding extra storage space to a laptop. These things are tiny!
It's worth keeping an eye on amazon these were £20.99 there last week. So may well dip again.

I'd just like to take a moment to appreciate how much storage this thing holds... i mean, where is it stored?!?! It's tiny.
Also, have some heat.

Most won't admit this, claiming it's simply the evolution of technology but the secret is simply magic. It's the only explanation.
Shhhhh, you didn't hear it from me.

For utter cool one, not much difference in price depending on offer, I have a Samsung 128GB USB 3 Fit.

What these things lack is any way of attaching it to something more substantial, like a key-ring. I got one and then managed to lose it [complete with a whole bunch of data] within a week.

So this memory stick should only really be used during the winter months?

I had a Kingston one, similar size but that ran very warm, almost hot to touch, and failed just after a year. Kingston replaced it foc as it had a 5 year warranty. Replacement seems much cooler though so don't know if there was a common fault among these small drives?

having problems transferring some files across with mine (assorted size files).

It may also depend on the computer & where in the computer the USB point is to other hot running items, just a thought.

It was mostly plugged into the TV, on a little extension lead, so it was generating the heat itself and not absorbing it from elsewhere. Even when not being accessed too, so definitely a design fault. Its replacement is just ever so slightly warm in comparison.

They are not that hot, you don't have the pain tolerance. Try catching a red hot soldering iron.

How do you think I heat my soldering iron?

HEAT!
Run a digital thermometer on other items plugged into your always powered usb3 ports and
you will be suprised at how much radiant heat is given off at the port itself!
Brilliant drives, brilliant price for size!
Got these and the 64gb versions, running as master boot devices for use as always on and running
vmware setups and video feed streaming, in laptops, servers, etc etc, not had one single problem
on the sandisk ones OR the samsung fit ones.. no miss write's, no fails and no warranty send backs
claiming they melted the ports!
As a real world example, got a dentist who has 2 x lcd tv/montiors [the 32" sharp hukd ones] with
a sony notebook, with 3 of these sandisks in, running 24/7, streaming videos, adverts and high res
photos from, in 5 surgeries, prior to replacing his 32" cheapo monitors with the sharps, these usb
drives have been running for over 19 months.. with no issues.. other than 4 power cuts at the
locations he has, think he now buys all his gadgets and staff achievement presents from HUKD now!

I've gone through 3 of these, 2 crapped out and wouldnt be recognized by any computer (I used the interchangeably between a PC and MAC) and lost the last one. Im looking for a smaller one like this to be used to install windows 10 as its blazing fast via a usb3.0 key. Have you seen any good deals on an 8/16/32gb usb3.0 stick?

No not my main Os , running Android on an old O2 Joggler as a kitchen device , mainly for music. http://www.jogglerwiki.com/forum/
I run 3 of these devices off USB boot sticks and have only had one fail in 5 years :-)

I once dropped a soldering iron and caught it, that was hot and I was covered in blisters.
This flash drive does not get as hot as that.

just bought the 128gb ultra fit and, as per comments on here, it does get HOT!! The drive also "disappears" i.e. it disconnects and it's obviously due to the excessive heat. The first thing I did when I plugged it into my laptop was to also connect my external WD portable drive to transfer some movies, within 5 minutes both drives kept disappearing and I never managed to fill a quarter of this drive due to the drop outs. The heat is incredible and I really don't understand how this is achieved as NONE of my other usb sticks get anywhere near this kind of heat, even when transferring files for an hour or more.... in the end I had to resort to sitting the laptop on an "ice pack" which kept the temperature normalised until the stick was filled!!! this is ridiculous, I am taking it back to PC world where no doubt they will just want to swap it for another of the same make, if that fails as miserably as this one they can keep them! no wonder its so bloody cheap! I'd really love to know (perhaps some geek who understands the tech) why this thing gets so hot when others don't.
