Good TV and good quality for the price. Had recently bought this for £50 more from Argos. Buying it from John Lewis is a bonus - I've always had great customer service and aftercare from them.

Awesome price. I bought the 32" version in November from John Lewis and it's a cracking TV. Mine was a customer return with £40 off the price but still with 5 year guarantee so I snapped it up. If this was there I'd have paid the extra £80 in a heartbeat

Anybody else having the problem with the sound stopping on certain Freeview HD channels (BBC1HD, BBC2HD, ITVHD and Channel 4HD?
Only affecting Samsung and Toshiba (I think) and only started happening fairly recently, you have to switch over and back again to bring the sound back which is quite annoying. http://www.a516digital.com/2016/03/the-mysterious-sound-problem-silencing.html

yes my Toshiba has the same problem on Freeview HD channels only, and yes started a few weeks ago. though most the time it is fine
also ive noticed the signal has become unpredictable now, need to keep moving my indoor aerial for certain channels, whereas before it was fine, not sure if the latter is an aerial or another problem

Just keep checking for updates or set auto-update to on.

This cost about the same on the continent without being on any kind of reduction, not sure what the fuss was about, people care for warranty this much?
Wait till you buy something and then it goes kaput after a year
mivanpy
30 Apr 16#64
Depends how much you factor in 4 years outside the usual 12 months warranty so if it's 229 zlotzies plus another 75 zlotzies for additional warranty then not very good deal in comparison is it.

30 Apr 16#65
I had a less than 3 year old LG repaired recently on the cheap for £60! Thanks to Teletronic Newcastle Under Lyme. Maybe this could be why?

I guess it highly depends on luck, over 6 years ago I bought a samsung serie 6 tv in comet for 699, still going strong, better picture quality than other new 5 serie we bought for other room recently.
mivanpy
30 Apr 161#67
But that's my point  except i don't think 75 zlozies is a lot i meant more.
mivanpy
30 Apr 16#68
Not really! Don't mean to panic any one but Samsung do have quite a high failure rate. So warranty definitely best for this. Still a great deals and i would still get this but with the warranty obviously. As if i did get 5 out of it. I'd be happy.

I know mate, sorry. Meant to tag in the Polish geezer. These new teles are costly when they go wrong. I researched my fault and there were numerous folk all kicking up a fuss. Some less than 12 months old. It was actually 'Teletronix' repaired my TV. Round here i was quoted £120 in Cheshire, so decided a 13 mile jaunt to the Potteries area was worth a stab.

I've tried 2 different auto ones and neither worked. I have a smart DVD player, digibox (kodi) and now TV. Greedy I am. They don't switch even when I swap them around the ports as some people have tried.

Polish geezer here  I do understand everyones points on this topic, we are actually looking for a tv at the moment, but I did not find this deal something with a wow factor. I do understand people value different aspects of their purchases and factored risks. I must also say that during the 6 years I own the quoted samsung tv I have cleaned the inside with an air compressor after possibly the 4th year mark for preventive maintenance.
