I bought one at the time of this deal from Amazon.
Has anybody found that if you hold thee top one third of the handle that the steam can start to burn your hand (or at least get very hot - as you pour the water).
Not certain whether this always existed or it has got noticeably worse over the last couple of weeks.

I've asked for this deal to be expired as the price has increased :disappointed:

I stopped going to the local shopping centre when they started charging for parking. :-) The new charge is a joke.

This has no external water gauge or light to indicate power usage.
Very minimalistic look but good deal.

They are probably realising that more people are now choosing click and collect and want to put a premium on it because they are missing out on their markup from courier deliveries to home addresses.
I'm not really bothered about free market comments. In this instance, free market enables greed. This practice is greedy.

If it was pure greed then the charge would be that no matter what you spend.
Stop being a mingebag & pay £2, cutting your nose off to spite your face attitude.

Plenty of articles would disagree with you, such as this one. It's not "pure greed" - it's the free market.

I have a great deal of experience in warehousing, logistics and e-commerce.
The entire process costs the company pennies, and will more or less be amortised into prices they charge anyway.
As is said in the comment above mine, they are only adding to the processes they are ALREADY carrying out.
The new "cost" model is pure greed.

- Staff add it to the delivery vehicle that was already going to that store
- The product is already in its manufacturing box
- It is unloaded at the store, alongside the rest of the stock. In fact, the rest of the stock has to be put on shelves - a very time consuming process of restocking. The ability to leave it in the back of the store saves stocking time.
- All products to the store would be boxed for transport (or not as the case may be) & scanned and that is incorporated into the retail price. No different to C&C orders.
- Amazon have price matched therefore you will save £2 if you have Prime.

Warehouse staff pick the product, they box it up, staff scan it then load it onto the delivery wagon, staff unload it at the shop, staff pick it out & get it sorted for collection, staff go to get it for you when you show up to collect.
It isn't unbelieveable at all & it costs time & money to organise this. You have gotten this side of collecting for free for a while, now you either pay £2 towards it, spend £30 or more which obviously covers costs or or you pay £3.50 to get it posted
If you want to let a good deal go by the wayside for £2 then that is obviously your own choice, to me it is an extremely shortsighted view on matters.

It's a deal breaker for me.
There are no additional transport costs. Staff to do what legwork? Pick a product? Whoopiedoo.
It's unbelievable.

Yep, I'm on the lookout for an all stainless steel kettle too, which means no level gauge (as they are of course plastic).
I certainly don't want my water contaminated by leaching from the plastic.

Purchased as our student Sainsburys Basic Kettle that is totally plastic isn't very good (Spout spills water etc)
Now to convince the house it was a worthy spend of £11 :stuck_out_tongue:

A good tip with any kettle to prevent 'taint' is to always use fresh water each time you boil, if you only boil the amount you need each time this becomes an automatic action.
Boiling the amount you need also saves electricity.... and kettles are electricity guzzlers  so the saving mounts up over time

This kettle on actually one of the best for preventing plastic tasting water. There is no gauge (removable) and all steel parts inside. The steam may condense on the lid but thats nothing compared to the chemicals you get with water literally boiling whilst touching plastic parts. Surprised to read the negative comment regarding this kettle actually.

thanks op. the Russell Hobbs product registration form looks like they're forcing to agree to details sharing with them and third parties with no option to opt out when filling this online form only writing to them by post afterwards. http://russellhobbs.productregister.co.uk/ . does anyone know if there's another way to register your product over the phone etc. thanks again

I bought one of these sometime back for £16, at first I noticed it has no water gauge... But the red plastic gauge inside is simple enough.
Just a tip... When you take the lid off, always place it upside down (because the lid is domed on the inside), otherwise you'll get crumbs, hair etc. stuck to it and then that drops in the kettle.

I agree, but it is becoming more and more common, I think Tesco charge for Click and Collect now as well.
If you were passing the store you could pop in and there may be one on the shelves anyway.
I think the last time this kettle was posted on hotdeals ( 3months ago) it got to 311 degrees and it was £15.00 then.
Even taking into account any click and collect charge I think that the kettle would still be cheaper than anywhere else.
Of course for those who have Amazon prime you don't have to worry about any extra charges.

Got this one at work, though quite expensive...it has light grey plastic which doesn't apply a bad taste.
Any suggestions for a full metal kettle? cant seem to find any/.

20 Apr 161#7
Yup...used that workaround...still get a few drips of foul water that has condensed on the lid. Also means that you can't leave it unattended, as there isn't the pressure to cause the automatic switch-off.
White plastics or a full-metal kettle for me.

Never buying a kettle with black plastics again (as in the lid on this kettle)...gives a horrible taste to the water that doesn't seem to go away

Do what I do and use it with the lid off?
And only boil the water you'll use right away - one cup in about forty seconds
