Anyone that still thinks this is overpriced is missing the point (in my humble opinion, of course).
Campo Santo that created the game are a brand new, small, development team. They have created something almost unique here. I was happy to pay the £15 on release and I wasn't disappointed. Some people say they're disappointed with the ending, but as another poster above says, anything over the top would have seem too much - this way it feels completely realistic, and I applaud the developers efforts here. In paying for this game you are not only buying the game, but supporting the creators to build their future projects.
Well done Campo Santo on what is, honestly, my joint favourite game of the last few months (along with Life Is Strange).

I could listen to Delilah all day long. I paid full price on release day. Loved it. It stayed with me for days afterwards. It's not perfect but it was brilliant and this sort of game genre needs encouraged and voting with your wallet is the way to do it.
Oh and the theme really is lovely. After you have played the game - that little radio noise when you make selections - it has an effect on you

Short but very sweet. Definitely worth a play through for the story, voice acting and presentation. Wouldn't say there is much replay value in it but one everyone should play.

Let's be clear, this is a walking simulator rather than a true game - and I usually despise those. But it's an interesting, thoughtful journey even if the ending is indeed disappointing. Worth a few hours of quiet, thoughtful playthrough.

There's a non-spoiler book club-style podcast review of Firewatch here if anyone's on the fence about this and wants to know more.
Also agree that the theme is beautiful, worth the couple of quid extra definitely.

Good game with a great atmosphere/story. Something that's missing these days with the same generic space/war FPS crud over and over.

Thank you to those that responded to my post, I have a much better idea of what to expect now and will probably hold off until it's a touch cheaper, as although I am intrigued by the experience I think 3 hours might be a tad short. Will definitely pick it up when it drops again. I can continue working my way through the HUKD backlog of games I have acquired until then.

I personally don't like the current obsession with having a major impact on the story of the game. I think it discourages good story writing by having to accommodate multiple possibilities, and doesn't really bring much benefit. A game doesn't need to give you total control over things like that, as you don't become the character in it, rather you control them, but for the purposes of the story it is still the character's story, not yours.
I initially found the ending disappointing too but thinking about it, anything different would've felt unrealistic given the style of the game.

It's a brilliant game, though not one you can easily review without giving much away. I played it on Steam and it's an excellent indie title that rewards patience and attention to detail. It flows so well and the acting and writing is sublime.

I played it on PC, it's a beautiful game with brilliant voice actors. A very intriguing story, although as far as I could tell it wasn't affected by the decisions you make throughout the game (which I think would have improved it slightly). Personally I was a little disappointed by the overall ending, but I would still thoroughly recommend it.

These gaming curios are normally right up my street; if you're a fan of these interactive walkathons then it may be for you. Enjoyed it more than Ethan Carter but not as much as Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
Having said that, I purchased it on release day and there were issues with frame rates at times, which did somewhat break the immersion. For most games this wouldn't be a problem, but this game is an immersive delight (most of the time). The story is engaging, although a few strands are rather unsatisfactorily resolved and one dies out with barely a wimper. It's not your dumb, machismo shout-fest of Space-Marine Legacy 6 but something rather more human and real. Someone else critiqued the story, but it has more soul and realistic emotive goings-on than most games.
This isn't a spoiler unless you're strange but you can pick stuff up in this game. In fact this is one of the only interactive commands you can do. Frustratingly, my character was able to pick items up perfectly but if you want him to place said item back down he will either launch it at a table (much cherished picture of loved one, see ya!) or drop it on the floor not that near to where you wanted it to go. It's a real minor point but when there are so few actual actions it's annoying.
Having said all that, it's pretty. It has real atmosphere. The characters actually behave in a way that is both identifiable and believable. The end is somewhat of a damp squib. My one piece of advice (which isn't a spoiler) is to use your camera to soak up some of the beautiful vistas. It's not a very long game (3 hours or so), isn't really replayable and I'd advise people to wait until it's half price. (Have voted hot though).

Yeah I personally loved it! It's very beautiful and I enjoyed the story from it. It makes being a Firewatcher look like a fun job. lol. Many reported some issues with it but I barely noticed it. Was pretty playable for me. Just disappointed with the length of it and the trophy list could have been better. But apart from that, its a great game! I would say wait for it to be cheap but for £11.59, that's entirely up to you if you're happy paying that. To expand your enjoyment and get your money worth, do more exploring rather than rushing it.

I'm in the same boat :stuck_out_tongue: It's a good deal but for the length I'm not sure it's worth it - Journey was also a great game but I regretted paying full price for it on release since it was very short.

Played it last week and the frame rate consistently dropped when it was streaming the world. Also, I did run into bugs where there were invisible barriers I couldn't walk around (near boy scout camp). I don't think this has been patched at all which is very poor for what was a reasonably pricey game. With that being said, it is an excellent experience - a real mystery - and I enjoyed it immensely.

Those who didn't notice any bugs or framerate issues, good for you - I'm not denying you did or didn't, however, there is no denying this game (on launch) was patchy at best. Glad to hear its been resolved now (allegedly)...better late than never.

4-5 hour game at most. You can play through again with different conversation choices etc. But think the story is locked in. I bought it on release and got the theme as well, which is really good and calming.

I bought it at launch and never had any bugs, but there were a fair amount of people who did get framerate issues and turning point issues so they were there.
It's a great game though. I really enjoyed it and it's my favourite this year so far. It is fairly short though if that's an issue for you, it's only around 4 hours long. I didn't feel ripped off though it just depends on whether you personally feel 4 hours is worth this price.
But again, great game and looking forward to what the studio do next.

This game was spoiled for me by a game breaking bug, a note I needed to collect didn't spawn on a tent, and I was stuck in a loop with my save file. It was sorted out a couple of weeks later but it was a major immersion breaker. Not touched it since unfortunately.
Ps Store killing it today with the great offers. About time as the other 51 weeks a year are generally terrible for us.
