So you've got access to large consumer electronics purchasing department prices to make that guess i see :smirk:
PS4K may very well be a real thing, but it's going to be a 'premium' model people have the choice of buying. Those thinking rapid or sharp price drops will happen on older models may be in for a rude awakening.

[quote=upmiddlefinger]I believe the new PS4K is being made to fully realise the potential of VR gaming and extend the lifespan of this gaming generation. The new PSVR has refresh rate of upto 120Hz whereas the Oculus/Rift have a refresh rate of upto 90Hz (despite being able to run on much more powerful PCs) I seriously doubt a PS4 will have the GPU to handle the demands of fully immersive VR comparable to its PC rivals. Also taking into account the advances in mobile generations being upgraded annually (and consumers buying them) it only makes sense for Sony to follow suit. Nintendo having been creating these mid-console rehashes for years with their mobile devices (back in the 90s they even had an upgradable RAM slot for the N64).
Mobiles and consoles are completely different. Also look at all of those previous upgrades from Nintendo which was either completely ignored or fragmented the userbase by making games exclusive to people who upgraded to the new 3DS. If you want to upgrade hardware every year then get a PC.

I don't think the device that plugs into psvr has any gpu. it basically just projects two images at the same time meaning psvr will struggle with PS4's power.
But i agree that releasing upgraded consoles every year would kill the whole industry as so many problems could happen like people playing multiplayer at different framerates giving people with upgraded PS4s the advantage over regular PS4 owners and in the long run will hurt them as the jump from PS4 to PS5 won't impress anyone if they upgrade the console regularly and then PS5 flops. Theres a reason why consoles are popular as its fixed hardware.

The PS4.5 WILL not play native 4K games at all period. Do you know how much it would cost for a PS4 to play true 4K games? Atleast £900-£1000 period. Even top end gaming computers struggle you guys who think otherwise are seriously deluded not going to happen

As a PS4 owner i am looking forward to this upgraded console as i know Sony wouldn't create an entirely new console- losing their already created client base. If they made it PS3 backwards compatible (unlikely due to the architecture being very different) I would snap it up in a instant!

the psvr comes with its own little gpu that plugs into back of ps4, I can imagine the ps4.5 will be just a normal ps4 with this built in to make it look neater.
or at least I hope it does, hate the thought of my ps4 being sub par to newer Co sole after just 3 year, Sega did the same mistake and look what happened to them.

Can anyone seriously see the PS4.5 being anything other than a PS4 with the PS VR unit built into one complete unit? Perhaps that will give enough boost to output video and pictures at 4K, would keep the price down to around £550-600 and also allow for a more powerful PS5 in the future.

This thread just highlights the pish that gets spouted on the net. If people aren't arguing over something that may not even exist, they're arguing over what the actual non existent piece of electrical equipment will do. All that aside and back to reality, both MS and Sony haven't even released a console that can reliably run games at 60/1080, so I highly doubt they've got anything planned for 4k gaming. 4k video - aye, sounds plausible, but not a hope in hell they're gonna achieve 4k when they can't crack a consistent 60/1080p which should be standard. They need to release a console which can handle all current games before taking the next unrealistic step.
As they say in Turkey and Oman, they need to learn to walk before they can run.
Edit: Last week it was MS that were giving us a new super duper console until they came out and rubbished the stories. Sony will do the same soon or at least tell us something truly underwhelming.

first part of your comment is true, however you are 100% wrong about second part where yo said they rushing PS4 to compete piracy on ps3! lol even today piracy on PS3 very very limited compared to 360/Wii/DS (consoles of it's era)
they didn't rush PS4 at all,it's just that both Xbox One and PS4 were designed economically,so both are minimal upgrades compared to their predecessors and very disappointing.

I've heard the rumours and Sony is nuts if they are going to fragment the console like a PC is. lets say the PS4.5 upgrades the graphics and frame rate that would that affect multiplayer is people with the PS4.5 would have the advantage over original PS4 owners.

This is why we did not purchase Ps4 because it is not much of an upgrade from Ps3. It like Ps1 to Ps2 feeble upgrade workhorse. Ps3 is a big upgrade from Ps2. Ps4 is really a rush release to combat piracy on Ps3.
We can see many ****-off Ps4 owner when Ps4K release. This is very cold deal for those who wanted VR this October as Ps4K will be release before that in the summer.

Eh? Now I am a PC person myself but PS4 is the most powerful console atm. The PS4k will play VR better than the standard PS4 but anybody expecting the PS4k to magically start outputting games in true 4k is kidding themselves.
Plus I fully expect all games to work across both, albeit at a framerate loss, still expect most to be above 30fps which is fine for most console gamers.

This is nonsense. The PS4 was in development for years, and given how long the last generation lasted as it was, it was hardly rushed in terms of release! And PSVR will run on the PS4 that's available now.

Bad thing to do. Corporations have customised large orders and tender parts at low prices typically. They're not going to push the absolute top end of parts cause they want a PS5. They are however going to have a leap in power. Backwards compatibility too if rumours are to be believed

I saw this deal about two weeks ago. If you keep trying the "build a bundle" every day or so, you will get eventually get a free item (e.g. cover for the PS4, orange was the last offered) and also the chance to get a Dualshock official for £34.99 also, as well as a reduced price on a game or two. But the offers come and go every few days. Last one I saw bundled the above with the Star Wars batlefront for £279, all 1TB still.

People thinking that a new version of the PS4 that can handle 4k gaming will be the same price or 'about £50' more are deluded, the 4k version (it if even comes out' will be at least £200 more than the current model due to requiring a much MUCH faster graphics chip and needing more ram for the textures.

just comparing to PC prices, if you've got or planning on getting a good 4k TV it might be worth the wait, but for everyone else the ps4 is gonna be around for a few more years yet

Sony currently not commented the 4.5 exists. and it's reported spec would put it in gaming PC price point, I'd struggle to see them selling many units at £800 a go. so £270 for current version is hot from me.
