Posted before, posting again as its back on.Think it is a real good price, especially as no excess, also have personally used myself with a leak under the sink. Good service.
As a homeowner, you are generally responsible for the upkeep and repair of the plumbing and drainage system within your home and for the repair and maintenance of your water supply pipe, from the street boundary up to where it enters your home. In some cases responsibility for this pipe can be shared with neighbouring properties. With such complex systems, if you experienced a problem such as a burst pipe or a blocked drain, it could be expensive to put right. That's why we have teamed up with HomeServe to bring you Plumbing & Drainage Plus.
With Plumbing & Drainage Plus, major emergencies such as burst pipes or blocked drains and minor repairs like dripping taps are all taken care of. In an emergency, there would be no need to search for a plumber, it would take just one call to HomeServe's 24-hour, UK based helpline to arrange assistance from an expert plumber. Plus, there would be no repair bill or excess to pay within the generous claims limit.
This limited offer of £6 in the first year ends on 18 April 2016. Any applications received after this date will be processed at £12 in the first year.

I've been looking at a new policy to cover most common plumbing problems for a while now. This policy is crazy great for what I would need it for. Thanks again!

This will cover it - one of the main elements of the cover.
Cover Definitions
Water supply pipe: the freshwater pipe that connects your property to the mains water supply up to and including the property’s internal stop tap. In England and Wales, this includes the pipe from the junction with the mains services. Therefore this can include any section of the pipe where it is on private land outside your property boundary up to the public highway, but only if you have a legal right of access to the pipe on such private land, and in relation to any section of pipe under the public highway only if you have this extra legal responsibility. In Scotland, your responsibility ends at your property boundary. Permanent reinstatement: repairs required to re-instate (put right) the damage caused by any excavations necessary to access the water supply pipe. This includes the reinstatement of tarmac, concrete, block paving and lawns. What is Covered? You are covered for a leak or blockage in your water supply pipe. An engineer will locate the leak or blockage and repair, replace or unblock the affected section of the water supply pipe. Examples of claims covered Leaking water supply pipe Blocked water supply pipe Leaking internal stop tap Seized internal stop tap Claims limit – Up to £4,000 per claim – No limit to the number of claims Hotel accommodation – If you are completely without water and we are unable to perform a same day repair/replacement, we will reimburse you for hotel costs (room only) up to £500. This is in addition to the claims limit Response – If your incident is an emergency (including internal leaks which cannot be controlled), your claim will be given priority, otherwise an appointment will be made Permanent reinstatement - An exact match to the existing surface cannot be guaranteed and we will only reinstate the area that is damaged. Where we are able to carry out permanent reinstatement work this will be part of the regular claims limit amount. We use engineers with the necessary skills and reputable stockists who stock the materials usually required to reinstate surfaces; however if the permanent reinstatement requires non-standard construction materials and/or methods and skills we will make the ground safe and reimburse you an amount towards your own reinstatement costs within the claims limit. To allow for settlement of the ground following excavations, the permanent reinstatement works may not be carried out immediately. pWhat isn’t Covered? (see also the General Exclusions) a) the external stop valve connection to the water mains supply (because it is the water company’s responsibility); b) where there is no evidence of a blockage, a leak or damage; c) frozen pipes which have not resulted in a leak or permanent blockage; d) any costs of the water lost during a leak; e) costs which exceed your fair share of the cost of any work undertaken by us under the terms of this policy on a water supply pipe outside the boundary of your property where you share legal responsibility for the water supply pipe with any third party(ies). Your fair share will be calculated as the total cost of the work divided by the number of parties (including you) that are responsible for the water supply pipe and benefit from the repair; f) any work required on a water supply pipe outside the boundary of your property where you share legal responsibility for the water supply pipe with any third party(ies) who does not agree to the work being completed by our engineers.

I took this offer last year when I moved into an old property. Got my renewal quote a few weeks ago at £96 each, plumbing and electrics. When I called them to say I did not want to renew, they dropped the price to £70 each.
Renewal is auto-renew and it's up to you to cancel, and is done on the card you pay on.

4 Apr 16#103
Often your home insurance will cover this, but you'll obviously pay an excess. Mine covered me last year for a leak about a foot from the meter. Anglian water didn't want to know, though some water companies do fix it for you. At £12 it's well worth it though.

I actually had really good service from them. Had a bad leak under the sink, called them up, they sent someone out the day after on a weekend. He came, fixed it under 30 minutes and all for 50p a month.
When it comes to renewing they e-mail and send a letter, I just called to cancel it.

I had this over the last year and have just cancelled it. While in the end I'm glad we had it, the service we had was absolutely awful. We had a leak on a shared supply pipe and there was months of arguing back and forth between ourselves, the water board and Homeserve who were determined not to address the problem. Severn Trent told us they would take us to court if we didn't get it fixed, and Homeserve's response to that was that we should let them take us to court and they would pay any fines we would be given once a judgement was given against us.
It was eventually sorted after half a dozen separate jobs and lots of time taken out from work, and in fairness we made a complaint and once it got high enough it was taken seriously and was resolved to our satisfaction. I'm sure it's not always this bad, and when we had to call them out to fix a faulty tap this was done promptly by a very nice plumber. I'd still recommend this deal as the work was eventually done and it undoubtedly saved us a lot of money.

I took this offer up last year. It renews to about £84 a year. So make sure you cancel if you don't want it.
As for Homeserve "service". My experience was poor.
They are professionals at wriggling out of doing the work/approving the claim.
My issue was simple. I had a leak somewhere. Evidence was quite clear. A pool of water under my house.
Sure they did some initial investigation (its called a "look see" in the industry).
Their complaints department says all the right things as they got a lot of bad press in the past.
What they did was send another guy round for a "second opinion" and that was all they were prepared to do.
He was quite clearly they guy who has the gift of the gab to turn around claims.
His sole remit was to wriggle out of finding my issue. Charming guy, slick as anything.
Ultimately there was no resolution to my issue and no amount of "complaining" would resolve it.

Overflow tube may need replacing.
Also..
For an older toilet, the screw connected to the water valve may have to be adjusted to change the water level where the valve shuts off. In a newer toilet, a clip connected to the float around the fill valve will also be connected to a metal rod. By squeezing the clip, the float will slide upward and downward upon the rod to adjust the water control - http://www.doityourself.com

i called homeserve to fix dripping shower and chap on phone said its covered on my policy and a engineer will come the following day.
The engineer arrived into my house, didnt even say hello to me and said where is the problem. I guided him to the room with leaky shower and kindly told him to take shoes off and he barged into my room making my carpet dirty.
He then said i cant fix the problem without fully identifying the problem. Clearly from the beginning he just didnt want to fix my leaky shower. He then ran out my house and i said why are you not fixing my problem. He ignored me and dashed into his van. I took pictures of his number plate and he thretened to call the police on me and shouting at me very loud and grinning at me. His name is Sam and his number plate is VK64 KYZ. He was a young lad and he decided to stay outside of my house for an hour. I was very frightened and i called head office to kindly tell him to leave me alone.

I had this cover for last year at the same price. It was great service on both the occasions I had called in: 1) for replacing washers around toilet taps and they simply replaced all the leaking taps 2) fault kitchen tap and offered to fit any that I could buy or they could supply one as well. All call outs have a upper limit of £4000 which is quite a bit. I have gone ahead and renewed for the second year after bringing the price down to £54/year. I had this insurance last year for £9.00. I had a leak underground in my back yard coming in under my kitchen. The water was causing a small flooding under my living room floorboards. When I called these guys up and told them the problem they sent a plumber over. When he realised it was a huge job he got in touch with his office and they told him to tell us it was not included in the policy as the leak was outside the actual house. He didn't even check where the leak was. The leak could have been in the back yard or kitchen. He just said that his office said it was not their problem if it was outside the house. I found this unbelievable as the diagram showed the boundary was the end of the yard just before the back Street starts. Also he didn't even check. Came and went within 5 minutes. I wouldn't pay that price again let alone £100.

I had the homeserve drains engineer out last week for a leak coming under the property. Told me I had to pump the water out before they would repair the problem. Very unusual that a drains engineer cannot do this. And guess who I have to call out to pump the water out? A drains engineer.
They couldn't understand the concept that when you have a water leak, once the water is pumped out it will continue to recollect unless the problem is fixed. But refused to carry out work with water there! There plan was pump it out, cross your fingers that it hasn't recollected by the time a homeserve engineer arrives. (Might as well pay the little extra to the drains engineer pumping the water out to carry out the repair).
Anyway got United Utilities to sort it for me, no problems.

Renewal is auto-renew and it's up to you to cancel, and is done on the card you pay on.
Also water tank inlet in the loft is dripping which can be annoying at night... but can put up with it for a couple more weeks given its been like it for ages.

If you "trust" Homeserve then go for it !

So theoretically if you they look back over your records they can can decline to send anybody out if you have had the same deal before.
That's why I never have any unless it's a legal requirement.
If you make a claim on this would you need to highlight this on your home insurance renewal?
ie have you made a claim in the last 5 years?
Could be expensive????
Will it be cancelled?
Would it be worth getting this policy and making a claim?
When our toilet is flushed, water then still continues to fill the bowl (it doesn't shut off) - would this cover the repair & new parts if needed....or just labour? Thanks v much
Fnnnarrrrrr

I was very frightened and i called head office to kindly tell him to leave me alone.
never again
going to cancel my homerserve plan today.
Although dont expect them to turn up if we have a harsh winter. They are massively understaffed.
Make sure your water co doesn't in fact look after your supply and drainage to the building first. Although 6 quid to cover internals is good on its own.
Good value for £12.00 a year though :stuck_out_tongue:
