First deal in a while, looks pretty reasonable from what I have seen anyway.
Grade C Playstation 3's, in my experience Grade C hasn't been extremely poor quality, and even still, coming with a 12 month warranty for extra comfort at mind.
Perfect as a replacement console, or as a parts dummy!
Just a thought, CEX sell the same model for about £60. But they have a 24 month warranty on all products.
So if you're concerned that's always an option.
Great bargain though OP!

My PS3 slim lasted about 1yr and half. The brittle plastic case broke after a year and then the laser mechanism failed when the silly sliding cd cover door sprung opened while in storage. Atleast it didn't overheat and burn out the chips and hard drives like my non-slim version which was warranted twice!
I'm not sure what makes a grade C. I imagine Game will be getting job lots of ps3's for pounds so if it packs in they'll just send out another unit as can't see it being economic to repair?
My original PS1 still works!

Yes, this was an eye opener for me, I was stung buying used Slim PS3 from Game; 1st Dirty console came with cheap broken P3 controller, 2nd replacement console ( Noisey Fan ) also full of dirt inside, again another cheap slooowwww unusable P3 controller ( Binned ). They should at least try to clean up the consoles before selling.
I Cannot recommend buying a used console from Game.

Ah, grade C refurbs. 100% failure rate in my experience - never, ever again.
Bought a PS3 - had been repaired 3 times previous (you could see the repair stickers inside the console) and failed after using it twice (YLOD)
Then took it back to game and swapped it for an Xbox 360. Sure enough after just a few uses, it had RROD. On closer inspection, this one was also full of repair stickers inside the case. Took it back to game, but they refused as the warranty sticker was missing (it never had one in the first place) i tried explaining that, but they said i would have to send it to main Game office/warehouse at my own expense. I diddnt bother in the end as it was more hassle than it was worth - but it put me off buying a 2nd hand console again from game!!! i'd trust a used console from gumtree more!

A very solid, pretty quiet blu-ray player (I'm pretty sensitive to disc drive & fans noise), would definitely recommend picking up the PS3 blu-ray remote. Also plenty of media apps, like Amazon Video, iPlayer, All 4 etc. good if you don't have smart tv.
Of course a games machine too, loads of exclusives still worth playing.

19 Apr 161#65
I've played it on both consoles and unless you're playing them side by side you won't notice the miniscule differences between the 2 versions.
There is a bigger difference between the PS4 and Xbox One this generation but last generation there was hardly any difference in most cases. The 360 sometimes had very slightly better versions of multiplatform games but PS3 exclusives tended to be the best looking games of the lot.
All in all if I was buying a last gen console now I'd get a PS3 because the online is free and it's a better media player. Better exclusives also.
Goopster
19 Apr 16#64
Even though I moved to a PS4, last gen gaming makes a lot of sense. Still use a PS3 a lot. In fact, same with the 360. Some great titles are available for little cost - Pick 'em up now while few people want them. Heat from me.

Slightly odd question but could this be used as a way to access the internet for Youtube etc on an old CRT TV. We have an old Sony TV which our daughter uses to play old PS2 games but presumably the PS3 is Wifi and can connect via the scart to the same TV?

Undoubtedly. The PS4 version did improve quite a bit but the PS3 version is still definitely playable and one of the best games ever made. I think the PS3 online mode still works as well but you needed a one-time code to access it.

I was thinking to get back into the console market after a bit of a break. The more i think about it, the more i'm actually tempted to buy a used ps3 or xbox 360 instead of a PS4 or XO which i was first considering.
Graphically there's not a massive leap forward in my eyes and a quick visit to cex and you'd see shelves and shelves of ps3 and 360 games selling for just a couple of quid.

As someone who owns an X1, if you're just jumping into the console market definitely go 360/PS3 route. Much less of an investment and the market for dirt cheap games is absolutely huge. Can always get the newer consoles if you get into it :stuck_out_tongue:

graphically there is a huge difference, depends what kind of gamer you are though, if your wanting aaa games then a ps4 is a must but casual football games and indie etc the ps3 is great, I still use it for rock Smith as there's no point upgrading

Out of the two I would opt for the PS3 personally. The 360 was a great console in its day but Microsoft completely nerfed the later versions of the dashboard on it and it actually had very little in the way of great exclusives, especially compared with the PS3. The last couple of years of the PS3's life cycle (2012-2013) saw some of the best games of the last 20 years (The Last of Us, Uncharted 2, Dishonored, GTA V, Journey, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD, Ni no Kuni) and you can pick most of them up for next to nothing. The PS3 is also backwards compatible with a lot of PS1 and PS2 digital games whereas the PS4 is not.
