Phillips Lux Wifi Bulb down from £30 to £7.50 to clear. Found at Tesco Hexham, not sure if it is nationwide. I bought 5. Great deal as these are normally £15-30

You need a bridge for these to work. I got mine included with a starter kit I bought a while ago. They have just brought out a new bridge so the old ones are going pretty cheap on eBay. Once you have that you can control and dim the bulbs from your phone or just use them as normal with the power switch. These ones are just white and don't change colour.

so they work independently of the light switch? I think ultimately most homes will be kitted out with wifi controlled gadgets.
sorry but these work how? how does the wifi element work? I know I can google but find people here give far more better explanations.

Lights can be controlled by an app on your phone and a "bridge" device is wired into the router.

You need to have the Philips Hue bridge first. This is the most expensive component, but once you have it you can add up to 100 lights to your house. These lights can then easily be controlled using a multitude of apps and programs. These Lux lights are the cheapest, as they can only be dimmed (through the app). A new revision has been released which are brighter, and that is why these are on clearance in Tesco. New lights have also been introduced which can both change light temperature and be dimmed. Finally, the normal Hue lights (and the most expensive ones at that) allow you to pick just about any colour and are dimmable as desired.
