Aaaargh! Was looking for a deal on behalf of someone to replace a TZ20 which was unfortunately dropped, this looked like a great package..... I've set a stock alert but I'm not completely hopeful that it will come back in.
I had the TZ3 from 2007, lovely compact camera.

Agreed - kgman obviously doesn't do much photography - ours got used on our last African trip for wildlife photography that otherwise I'd have been messing about changing lenses to achieve! We've blown some of these photos up to A3 size and the detail is incredible - no phone with a 3mm lens will ever do that.

I bought this camera a while ago but honestly found the picture quality was no better than what I was taking on my phone (S6) so returned it. If you don't have a decent camera on your phone and are looking for a decent point-and-shoot camera then this is a pretty good deal. Wouldn't bother if you already have a top of the line phone, though.

this is correct to a point but equally its basically irrelevant
your phone does take a great picture at its focal length but thats it... it doesn't take pictures at any other focal length
this camera has 30x zoom - it takes good pictures at normal '1x' zoom like your phone but also 2x,3x... 30x etc
this camera takes a picture of that pretty hillside just like your phone and 2 secs later it takes a picture of the bird in the tree 20 metres away... how is that bird pic on your phone?

This is a brilliant camera - the pre set are really good , great point click and it puts the fun back into photography ( i have a DSLR set up canon 1dx - 70 200 IS L lens mkii - and while its great for sports photography - airshow photography ) this is a little powerhouse - took this to rome - northern cyprus recently and spot out - cant rate this enough ( picked mine up off ebay new for 180 )

We have one of these - paid full price when it first came out, but still mega pleased we bought it - the quality of the photos it produces is astounding considering its size - we use this more than our SLRs now.

No decernable difference, unless you intend enlarging to Poster Size pictures, my only downer on the TZ70 is lack of GPS...Ho hum.

lower MP doesn't mean lower quality, actually means more light per pixel which can lead to better quality
edit: though looking at dpreviews imagecomparisonjobber... it seems worse - any other comparisons?

Be warned...had 2 of these the markings on the 'function dial' wore off on both, returned to JL
Got the TZ70, this has metal dial no issues.

unsy6162 - I looked at the DMC-TZ70 as well. Lower MP for a higher price brand new. Also John Lewis do a standard 2 year guarantee with it.
By all means go for what you want, i just though it looked like a good deal and i'd share it with the community.
