Lol, have an iPad, Android tablet and a Surface 3 running Win 10 in the house. The Surface 3 with Win 10 is my favourite by a long way. The wife uses the iPad but every now and then she asks to use the Surface for something the iPad can't do. This is a great spec tablet for the money

Not impressed with GearBest been waiting for a month for my eCig to turn up and when you mail them they are unhelpful and tell you to wait 40 days. Me personally it will be the last time i buy anything from them, if they cant deliver a £30 item i defiantly wouldn't spend £130 with them. If you buy this and it breaks you will be left with a £130 paper weight as GearBest wont help and if they do it will be a return to China at your own cost. Im sure they were band on here not long back but they now seem to be allowed again.

ok, my mistake, should not have purchased from Gearbest. The touch screen repeatedly detects 'phantom' touches. I was charged $50 more than the order price for a 'change' in price and offered a $40 credit on account. good news is I ordered with a UK credit card so will begin a dispute.

Only tourists in London from experience! My friend has a Surface 4 and they are beautiful but pricey. I got this one as my Linx 10 packed in, this is way better for about the same money. It only has a small USB port though but I have an OTG hub.

I want to replace my Linx 10 at some point, but I would like built in USB slots this time, and better cameras (even the Chinese ones tend to be a bit rubbish, still). I did say on the Linxtablets forum (when they asked for recommendations for their new tablets) that most of us want a better front camera, to talk on Skype - nobody uses their tablet to take photos, do they?

Yeah I know that! But the question was about the Android app Showbox, hence my reply about the Windows App Store equivalents (or lack of).
snes9x is a "full Windows" program, as is Calibre, which I also mentioned in my reply (?) I've noticed Gearbest themselves (I assume) have been replying on some threads - no doubt trying to restore their reputation. Not sure how well that's going! :innocent:
Edit: I would have been tempted by this as an upgrade to my Linx 10 but I would've preferred USB slots (like the newer Linx 1010, or Chinese tablets like the Chuwi Hi10 - which had a lot of problems on release, think they're resolved now). I'm sure I will eventually succumb to one of these Chinese tablets soon!

Try being a heavy user of Excel, the Apple version is a joke. I'm not saying the iPad is bad, that's not true, it's very good and as you say can do an awful lot but it does have limitations. Windows 10 in tablet mode works equally well to iOS in my experience but Win 10 gives you that choice of running full programs and not just Apps

The tablet is great value, no doubt. But I always smile when I read "something the iPad can't do". The only people who say that are people who don't know how to use iOS. I run a small charity, a limited company and am project managing a self build ALL from an iPad.
I can do accounts, desktop publishing, graphic design, video creation, 3D fly through building and architectural design and anything & everything else required.
ALL from my 64gb Air2
Windows continues to be popular largely because it is familiar & for legacy reasons. Not because it is good or the best.

With Windows you can install Bluestacks which allows you to run all Android apps. Apps are not a problem, I do this with my Surface 3. Also Microsoft are investing heavily in making software to make it easier for developers to transfer Apps from other platforms to Windows, including Windows Phone.

To be honest, I haven't tried the Windows App Store since I first got my Linx 10 (December 2014)...back then the movie apps were awful. Obviously, you can use your browser to use websites such as putlocker, yify, etc.
One annoyance for me was ebook apps (I use ezPDF Reader or Bookari Premium on Android), not sure if the ereader selection in the App Store has improved (doubt it) but I use the Calibre program, and I'm happy.
Game emulators, I'd assume snes9x (the last one I ever used for any length of time!) and all the others work as well as they do on a PC/laptop.

I dont think any of these are any good. The x98 pro came close but still for some reason they dont want to give the 802.11ac. I think the best thing to do is getting a surface 3 and dual boot it with the remix os android. All these tablets tend to get some kind of problem either in the first 10 months or straight after a year. The only reliable chinese tablet ive had was the xiami mi pad 2

The "vetted" quality controlled official app store is relatively small which is what he means I think. sure you have "millions" of programs you can install, but among those you're including legacy programs that haven't been updated since 1995, let's be honest only one percent of those millions will even be optimised for the high ppi display. You're left with horribly blurry or super small interfaces. Compare that to the thousands of true retina apps for iPad

What limited app store? Thats the exact reason to own a Windows tablet, its a proper operating system with millions of applications not some giant phone with restrictions on what you can install.
Good price, wish I had opted for a bit more RAM on my Surface, 2GB feels a little sluggish at times with a few programs running

been looking more at the 11.6inch screens myself, one thing puzzles me is according to intel the z8300 only supports 2Gb RAM but most of the z8300 tabs ship with 4Gb.
also not sure i could live with 4:3 screen ratio on windows now, got so use to widescreens.

I was never too sure if you could install Windows regular updates on these. Gearbest say on their pages "This Android/Windows device is designed to function specifically with the current Android/Windows OS installed on it. Any alterations such as upgrades, modding with custom ROM, rooting or flashing the Android device with other firmware will automatically cause the device experience matters as well as void the device's warranty. Please think twice before operating all these actions." And when I asked Gearbest if Windows regular updates can be installed all I ever got back is "you should not upgrade" so I've always steered clear of them

Even if you select EU warehouse, the item still ships from Shenzhen China then once it arrives at the EU warehouse you select (Brussels in my case) they put a sticker over the original China Post sticker and re-ship. still takes nearly 3 weeks but can't knock the price of the kit
