But then consider that Moto X Play has a whopping 3630mAh battery compared to phones like the iPhone 6 (1810mAh), iPhone 6s (1715mAh), iPhone SE (1624mAh). My daughter struggles to get through a day with her iPhone 6. I don't mind a FEW extra millimetres thickness if it means that I get a battery that will last me TWO days at least.

Nice, I got one with a couple of codes and Quidco from Motorola recently for £199 ish, this is a good alternative.
Good phone for the money, just a little chunky for me, but has marshmallow etc

Looks to be an excellent phone! I am however put off by its thickness of 10.9 mm. Motorola never disappoints people who love chunky phones

I ordered the 32Gb version earlier this week. Using the codes SPRING16 and UKWELCOME10 it came to £249. I ordered it on Wednesday, it was shipped yesterday (Friday), and is due for delivery by the 28th April. The advantage with ordering from the Motorola site is that you can have it made with the colour co-ordination you choose.

Hmm this or the nexus 5x from ebuyer for £209.99? Any advice?
Very well performing phone, bought this for £200 back in September (through Bespokes Offers and TCB) and it is a fantastic performer even to this day. I have over 100 apps on it and it has not slowed down one bit. Would recommend putting an SD card in it though. Overall, no complaints! Dropped it many times, heavy media usage and battery still lasts over a day.

I had a Moto X Force until last Tuesday when I dropped it in the bath! One of the things I liked about the phone was the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 feature, it really whacked the power in fast, (needed for the 3760mAh battery).

On my moto x play the marshmallow upgrade made animations stick but the next update fixed that. It is definitely chunky with a case on but feels nice in the hand.

Note that the 5x does not have a memory slot.
The Mrs has the moto with 128gb card that is formatted as internal memory, per marshmallow.
Works very well.

Are you using the same phone as me? I've had countless problems with mine being slow. I empty the cache daily and even got an SD card to free up internal space. Still has periods of sluggishness. This is the first android phone I've had that, from new, hiccups regularly.
I would swap to a Nexus again but compared to this, it doesn't come close for practicality. It's just a shame something is dodgy with mine.

Snap! Had been looking around for the lowest way to buy one as a gift, customized, but not pay £300! ;-)

This! Had the 5x last year and also have the moto x play.. the moto x play hands down and as you
can get the 32gb for 16gb cost while moto have the spring sale on, it will last until the next
round of phones come out in 2017, which will make all the current 2016 ones stupid cheap!
Have had 9 days on all the time, no wifi, no farcebook or numpty apps, with the Moto X Play
the 5x barely lasted a day..
The rear moto maker case is what gives the phone that thicker look, not the battery and tbh
once you hold and use the moto x play in one hand, compared to the 5x it makes no difference
to the thickness of the handset.. it stays in one hand, the 5x sort of slips/slides about a bit ;-)
Moto X play camera is great, the microsd access fast, the screen is sublime and best of all
if you do not care about the warranty [that much!] you can install the Dual Sim firmware on
it, which with Marshmallow 6.0.1 is silky smooth and very useful for business/pleasure use!

I have had some slowness issues with my phone at times but not frequently. There is a problem with mine though since I updated to Marshmallow where my home button or any media controls (media controls on headphones) refuse to work.

Try cleaning out the Cache Partition, you might have some old files left there from the last Firmware. The instructions are on the link below, just follow the Lollipop steps. I clean my Cache partition out about once a month to keep it clean. You won't hurt any of your apps or settings by doing it. Cache partition - Motorola site

I was thinking of getting this deal....but The Moto X Play doesn't have a gyroscope, which means it can't take Photospheres using the camera.
Maybe not a deal breaker for everyone, but a feature i like to use.

If you download the 6.0.1 update, it should hopefully resolve you issues. I was happy with my phone till the initial Marshmallow update, then the phone became incredibly slowly, took over 5 minutes to startup and took over 2 hours to factory reset which did nothing to fix the issues. A Google search revealed many reports of performance issues which were probably software related as the hardware is fairly capable, so I decided to wait instead of ditching it.. Thankfully, since the 6.0.1 update, the phone is fast, fluid, responsive and boots in seconds.
