This phone has been posted a few times recently but the price has come down a little more to £144 at Amazon. Obviously people have their own views, there are pros and cons to every phone but I've had the Moto G 1st gen forever and thought it was great so this price seems great for me...

The moto g's are reliable. Ive had mine for 2 years. Sturdy can drop them and they are OK. Could do with a better camera but 3rd gen has got one. The 4th gen will be a good phone but it prob will be pricey.
I don't know about alternative same price phones which are better?

Don't bother with the Vodafone devices.
We tried the Smart 4 Power and Smart Prime 6, whilst they worked ok, decent size screen etc. The screens where absolutely crap for durability. Even with covers they are so prone to breaking. Numerous times we had users breaking a device in less than a week of it being issued.
We moved to Moto G 3rd gens about 5 months ago, still waiting (on my site at least) for first breakage.
Performance good on this device, and as someone else said does feel premium to other devices in similar price range.
EDIT:
Yes, go for the 2GB, 1GB isn't really enough any more for Android, does indeed cripple the phone at 1GB. (Vodafone devices I mentioned previously I think where all 1GB)
The Moto G performs quite well, not as good as my personal Sony Xperia Z3 though

I had the Wileyfox Swift recently but sent it back after a couple of days. The build quality was ok but the speaker wasn't the greatest, as for the phone it just didn't feel powerful enough despite it's spec. Cyanogen was a really good OS but the phone just didn't seem to make much use of it. The Moto g just seems to have so much more punch to it.
That said, for the price it's amazing value for money and is an entry level but capable phone.

The usual release window is June-August. The price of this 2GB 3rd Gen model should drop as 4th Gen goes on sale.
It would be great if Motorola / Lenovo decided to sell the Moto G 4th Gen for £100 (carrier-locked) as the original did - considering there are now a lot more good quality budget-range alternatives.

Getting an android phone on anything less than 2gb is just silly, I have switched from a windows phone to this and am very happy with it (2gb model as above) very well made and runs like a dream, 1gb model will no doubt get bogged down when you start using apps for a while.
I bought mine for ~£170 a few months back so this is a great deal, but as said above, can customise it a lot more on moto maker so might be worth looking into that route too.

Indeed. I got the Meizu MX4 Pro for 130 spondoolics and it's so much better spec-wise it's actually laughable. More than happy to take the risk on effectively no warranty at the incredible price for the spec. It's a sign of how ripped off we get in the UK for mobiles that this is considered a bargain lol.
Got this from Amazon France last year - same price. Great phone
Picard123
9 Apr 16#45
It's not officially available in the UK as Xiaomi have said that they're not quite ready to enter the UK yet from a business perspective and want to concentrate on other markets first eg. Asia, India, Australia, but you should be able to buy it from places like Bangood, Gearbest etc who will ship it to you from Asia. It's not going to be for everyone as the UI is geared for the Chinese market and you make need to install Play etc, but if you have a search around you'll find people installing custom ROMs like Cyanoged on it etc, which makes it like the popular One Plus series of phones.
This is a great phone, great battery life etc, only downside was when I installed the update it went wonky then packed in altogether. Bought it in December from amazon for £131 and unfortunately had to return it as it packed in. I would recommend reading about updates before installing them but all in all it is a great phone.
