Extract from article: It looks like there will be two models, the regular Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus, which will cost 240 and 280 Euros respectively, according to Quandt. That's £190 in the UK so it looks like the Moto G4 price will be going up for 2016 if this rumour is correct.
Yep spot on, the Mrs got it on her Moto G 3rd Gen before I did on the Moto G 2nd. Good price, heat.
Bear in mind Motorola/Lenovo have a press conference scheduled for May 17th, supposedly the unveiling of the Moto G 4th Gen

I have got one of these (the 16gb version) and it is a great phone for the money. The battery life is extremely impressive, I am a moderate user and I probably still have 70-75% of my battery left at the end of each day.
Only thing that I don't like is the lack of a notification LED.

Is there a 4th gen available for this model?

Will be announced on 9th June if you believe this article:

You're welcome! I've been waiting for the Moto G 4th gen myself, but am concerned that Motorola/Lenovo/whoever are going to price it close to £200 - a bit of a departure from the original Moto G setting new standards in budget smartphones by costing not much more than £100 on original release. In fact I don't know if anyone will call the 4th gen a 'budget' phone..

New version should be announced early May. Might be best to wait and see what that is all about, possible price drop for this model too.

This model should have been the default model for UK The price around 125 - 135 is attractive.

Beware. The seller (in his Q&A) states that this phone is the 8G one and not the 16G as the title states.

Amazon combine reviews for all sellers, and the 8GB/16GB versions. It makes things very confusing. The deal in the OP is for the 2/16GB version.

There is no NFC support
There is no magnetometer
There is no gyroscope
There is no LED notification light
I have the Moto G 4G and was going to go for this, until I read about it.
..Nah, I've got a doogee and it's miles better than the Moto G which is now rotting in the "old phones" drawer. The Doogee's way cheaper too

Totally agree anything close to £200 isnt a budget phone - £200 will get you some older flagship phones ie LG G3
If Vodafone come out with a new Smart Ultra 6 around £120 that'll be the one to get - No guarantee they will - Might be EEs turn to come up with the goods!

yes, but I'd suggest you research the options for memory card storage options first as not all apps (eg Google play music) work on SD on Marshmallow.

Totally agree with you too ! About your point that '£200 will get you some older flagship phones ie LG G3' - that's exactly what I did last year (in May 2015) for my sister's birthday: I bought her an LG G2 from amazon for £198, which she's still delighted with now !

It's a bit of a con really. Most apps it seems still install on internal memory. I've got a Samsung micro SD card in my Moto G and despite selecting use a internal storage almost everything goes on phone memory
Music and photos go straight to memory card but not much else
POWYSWALES
28 Apr 161#29
It is because you have selected use internal memory that it is using the phones memory and not the SD card.
nigelbutler

No - selected use SD card as Internal memory.
Do you have Marshamallow? Have you managed to get most apps onto the sd card?

There is no NFC support - never used it
There is no magnetometer - what is it
There is no gyroscope - never used it
There is no LED notification light - moto display is great
I get you point - but it's not supposed to be a top end phone - just a good solid reliable phone at a reasonable price.

the silly thing the original moto g and moto g 4g had a compass/gyroscope and led notification.
the compass/gyroscope is very useful when finding places on foot with google maps.... you know you're heading in the right direction!

Yes, your right. I have a Moto G 4G (8Gb) with Marshmallow installed. After reading the exciting features of the memory management, I quickly formatted my 32GB as Internal storage. That should solve all my storage problems?. Wrong. Apparently it only works with apps which are designed to use it. Hence, the majority of apps out there still install to the original Internal memory!. So, already again, I am hitting storage issues once again.
Avoid 8GB models at all cost!

Thought so! cheers for confirming this... still need 16gb really. I can make do with 8gb just about but I think most people thought that they could add 32gb card and be sorted!
Its still ok if you download lots of music and take photos as they go straight to the card

Heat btw - good price and the 2gb model is a real plus because Motos aggressive memory management was a real problem on the 1gb models.
Great phone and I think my son said it has since been updated to Marshmallow

My work 3rd Gen Moto is now showing update to Android 6 Marshmallow available, this should allow true memory merging to the SD card. So the 8GB should not be a big limitation now - geek confirmations required!
