I always get excited by these but when I have emulators I end up playing the games for twenty seconds

Precisely. Sega got on average £30 per game from me back in the day! Not paying any more for 25 yr old games.
This is awesome but also incredibly sad....one look at Sega's website shows they are becoming increasingly less of a force as a software only company and now are having to rifle through and create revenue from their halcyon days.

And the rest! They weren't many at £30, most were £40-45.

What's the nodding about? Do these have any other advantage over the emulator? Like better resolution etc?
Always preferred the Japanese version of decapattack with the cutesy graphics, but never knew the name of it
People can now add stuff to the game.
(Guessing you meant mods)

Most of them games will keep you busy for 10mins until the nostalgia wears off.
Good price though

I don't remember paying that much, must've blanked it from memory! Nowadays I'll wait til a game is reduced, £25 is a fair price for xbox one titles.

To my understanding ROMS are illegal to use unless you own the original cartridge.
So it's basically like going on a dvd deal and saying why buy this when you can torrent it :-/

Even if you own the original cartridge it's a grey area.
Out of curiosity, has anybody ever heard of someone being sued for downloading ROMs?

Nope. Even back in the day, the general ruling was that even if you owned the originals, you had to have used a device to actually create the ROM dump yourself, so downloads have always been illegal. Not that's stopped countless millions from doing so.
I cut lawns for 2 months and bought a Jap Megadrive with this game. It was one of the best platformers on the Megadrive!

I'd pay that just for streets of rage 2, classic game
I actually miss spending £40 on a game which was pretty much almost certain to be sh*t & be possible to complete in a few hours (if good enough at it), how times have changed

It we had a 'fair use' thing but we don't, America does. However, we do get a lot better consumer protection than them in most other areas.

plug in an xbox or playstation controller and map the buttons using xpadder for an easy retro set up
mega drive games work well but I've noticed that PS1 games are pretty glitchy

I replayed Vectorman and Kid Chameleon fairly recently, still very enjoyable (though KC is as difficult as I remembered).

I think this is the marginally better deal at £9.35 for the 5 packs with 49 games.
However the other pack has an additional 10 games:
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Shadow Dancer
Sonic
Sonic 2
Sonic 3 And Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Sonic 3D blast
Sonic CD ToeJam and Earl
ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron
All those extra ones minus Shadow Dancer are £3.99 individually, so arguably the £16.32 bundle is better value.

Too be honest I think people have a rose tinted spectacle view of these games. You play them now and think 'wow that is carp'. They are of their time. In 25 years time when COD 30 is out and you are playing it with an Oculas Rift type device, which is far more advanced than what they have today, are you going to really want to play BLOPS 2? (I don't even want to play it now but that's beside the point)

Well, I don't usually think of fish when playing Mega Drive games, apart from the James Pond series, but IMO, not every game that was released back in the Mega Drive days is better than today's Xbox One/PS4/Wii U/Steam games, but there is a lot of fun to be had with the Mega Drive games.

Depends on the game. Some games I play came out back in the 90s/early 2000, Unreal Tournament/Total Annihilation to name two which to me are timeless classics!

I appreciate retro gaming isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I am in the minority who spend more time playing older games than new releases. No rose tinted glasses here.
Admittedly there are some which don't stand the test of time, obviously depending on how old you were when you played them - but some do. I was only playing Toejam & Earl the other day. Every so often I'll fire up MAME and play Space Harrier and Final Fight to completion.
Saying that I do have a Hyperspin setup so there is some level of dedication
