It feels like shops are becoming 'secret society' clubs, where you need to be a 'member' for this that and the other.
I don't wish to have a stack of cards and memberships, collating my information and targeting goods and services at me.
Maybe I'm stubborn or just old fashioned  but I just want to do my shopping... you as a shop have goods I as a customer have money... lets swap.....simple as that.
They will eventually realize they are making a mistake; when those who don't become members start to feel isolated and unappreciated and start taking their custom elsewhere.
Just because I don't have one of your special cards in my purse does not mean my pounds are worth any less :smirk:
That's aimed at Amazon Prime too... as well as other store memberships  grrrrrr

If you've collected 5000 Sparks or more, you'll receive an e-mail, with a Priority Access link. The prices show at full price - the 50% promo is added at the checkout/view basket stage.

No need for that tone really, is there. It's actually quite useful to know; I'm waiting for some discounts on their suit jacket range.

Can't see any beauty items at all in the sale - it's just the usual categories: Women's, Men's, Kids', Lingerie and Home

So you have to have spent an inordinate amount in there to get the discount? Is there any discount for the Base Sparks users?

ooooooooo tut tut  ..........not a big fan of stereotyping.
To be honest I can't even remember the last time I bought clothes for myself from there...
it would probably have just been some 'smalls' anyway .
Nowadays I just buy the occasional homewares item.... or I might just pop in there for some 'bits'

Used to have largish carp - not as big as that - in my local park for nearly 100 years. Then the Liberals took over the Council and decided that the park would become a duck sanctuary and all the carp and other fish were moved to a new lake about 3 miles away. Cost a fortune to do.
Then, within a few months of this happening, some firm released a load of old cooking oil into that lake and all the fish died. Oh well, the Liberals were doing the right thing... for the ducks.

What with eastern Europeans and liberals, carp must be having a hard time.
I did a summer school at York University many years ago, Vanbrugh college if I remember correctly. At breakfast time, the refectory had a huge run on buns, most of which ended up in the carp in the lakes.

They use rubber tape measures to make their customers feel slimmer than they are so always buy in store and try them on, otherwise you will be sending it all back.
Had some good bargains last time and they have some chinos in the sale this time, well worth a look . Marks and sparks are doing it right , combining online advertising to get people through the door .
I dont understand why BHS did not copy its competitors and it is a scandal the dividends and loans taken out of that company ( and disappearing pension fund ) that could have easily paid for an online click and collect internet presence?
