Ebuyer are selling the Google LG Nexus 5X as a weekend deal for £209.99, in White and the 16GB version... When you go to Google's website, they are still selling the phone for £299!
Im sure other people will not be happy, it is not available in the other colours or the 32GB version, but still seems a good deal.
There are other phones with a similar spec probably available for less, but I am a fan of the Nexus series of phones, as you get continuous software updates for 2-3 years and come to these phones very quickly after release. Also you don't get bloatware and just the barebones Android operating system which is now brilliant to use and so quick.
Also just to confirm, Ebuyer confirms all phones they sell are SIM Free. http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Computer/cat/Smartphones,-Mobiles-&-Mobile-Broadband/subcat/Android-Phones

If you look at recent deals you been able to pick up 32gb version for around £30-50 more, personally I would wait out for one of those deals 16gb doesn't go far these days especially when these phones have no SD card slots. Not a terrible deal but can get so much better like this one http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lg-nexus-5x-32-gb-black-259-fulfilled-amazon-2428605 posted a few days ago.

Hot - can't deny it's a great price for that model, I went for the 32gb when upgrading my 16gb Nexus 5, as said 16gb doesn't go far especially if you keep your music on there, take photos & videos, offline streamed music & download the odd catchup programme..
I cloud/ftp most things, photos, videos etc so 16gb is good for me.

You can pick them up on eBay for around £150ish, just a shame there no fingerprint sensor, which I have got use to, on my work phone.

This won't be a deal for everyone..... But personally I'd get the Xiaomi Mi4c 16gb model off Aliexpress for £104. Same chipset, same storage, same memory, 5" FHD, but lacking fingerprint scanner and stock android. And of course buying from China so possibly customs and limited after sales support. But £100 cheaper.

Reset the phone and when you do a restore of your Google account just leave the phone alone for an hour to complete and sort itself out! If you mess with the phone when it's restore it causes all sorts of issues which leads on to really bad battery life! I had this and others and just doing a reset sorts out the issues! I now get about 5 hours on screen time over 2 - 3 days which is really good

You're not wrong, but I think the conversation about frequencies is more nuanced than people often make out. If you're with a network which has access to 1.8Ghz and you spend the vast majority of your time in city then you should be fine (as this has the balance of capacity and distance/indoor coverage). Useful link

They'd have sold more of this, and previous Nexus phones and tablets, if they'd gone with a micro SD slot. I know they think we should use the cloud but it's just not practical.
With Marshmallow combining SD slots and internal storage in one, it makes any phone without a microSD slot look it's missing a trick even more.
Loved the Nexus tablets...played with the phones and liked them too.
Have alternatives of both instead though because of the storage limitations.

Well in reality o2 use it for 4g. Vodafone have a small amount of bandwidth on 800MHz and 3 use it for VoLTE which 3 don't support on this device. Obviously the MVNO’s that use those networks will have the same issue.

FWIW, clearly the nexus 5x is due for clearout (witness the recent Argos deal)....so, it looks like retailers are getting rid of the least popular ones first (white - to those who aren't in the building trade), then once cleared reduce the price of the more popular black versions. I'm waiting for black....I can then use onsite without fear of being humiliated.

It is when you want to show someone a picture and you have to wait for your phone network. No matter which network you are with there are always times when it isn't great. Obviously WiFi gets round this but not always available.
There is one advantage which never seems to get mentioned of having no memory card and that is if you have the phone stolen. Without the pin etc they won't be able to use the phone and you can easily bar the IMEI number but they can still take the memory card out and stick it in a pc to view all your juicy pics.

Mines just arrived. Currently installing updates so not had a play with it yet, on its 3rd restart now.
I see what reviews mean about the weak vibration, my SU6 is like something from Ann Summers in comparison. Screen seems about equal to my SU6 but feels nicer in the hand, not much difference in size either. Now to start setting up all my apps! Looks nice in white, will be getting a case for it anyway. I've been without a phone for 5 days, don't know what to do with myself. Had to actually speak to the wife yesterday.
Noticed its pretty hot to touch already, only been on 20 minutes, will do a battery life comparison with the SU6.
Edit - 4th restart. Battery dropped from 100% to 87% already. Hmm. Will be dead within 4 hours at this rate. Was on charge for 10 minutes before it showed that battery was 100%, maybe it needs a couple of cycles.

My Mrs got a 5x last week, it was throttling a lot after initial setup and burned through battery. Once that's all done and you're down to normal use things improve a lot!
Also, if you're feeling brave you can install Franco kernel, that allows you to control the intensity of the vibrator (ooooh-er...)
jaydeeuk1
25 Apr 16#84
Did hers update OK? Mines done all the system updates, but now I can't update or download any apps. It says I need to update google services, but on play its showing as 'installing' and not gone any further. Have restarted but doesn't seem to have made a difference and phone is almost too hot to hold now around the camera and finger scanner.
I want my SU6 back...
sionyboy
25 Apr 161#85
It took a long time, and as you say, things seemed to get stuck on 'installing'. I think this is where the CPU is throttling and operating at a much reduced frequency, which is why its taking so long. Just leave it be and it'll sort itself out (eventually!)
jaydeeuk1
25 Apr 16#86
Got there in the end, restarted services and then restarted phone and all ok now.
jaydeeuk1
26 Apr 16#87
Had a good play with it, battery now at 32% from being 100% at around 1.00ish yesterday which isn't too bad.
Camera won't focus really close up unlike the SU6. Don't know if it's hardware or the basic camera app. Otherwise camera is pretty good. The flash has more of a yellow tinge compared to the brilliant white of the SU6 (noticed in torch mode) be interesting to compare low light shots. Screen has a good range of brightness too. Not properly explored this version of android yet, a few games aren't compatible yet, imagine that will be resolved over time, phone signal seems equal to the SU6. Might end up missing the SD slot but we'll see.
Its a lovely phone, but all its made me realise is just how good the £100 cheaper smart ultra 6 is.

I was really drawn to the Mi4C as it was the same size as the Nexus 5 which was great. However, I was put off by the fact that it seems like Xiaomi aren't really that great at software updates. It still hasn't received Marshmallow and may never do. Once you get spoilt by the super quick updates from Nexus, it's hard to go back.

11 May 16#92
This is true, although there is an unofficial CM13 mod that is updated regularly, so if I were to go for a Mi4c I'd be flashing that rather than sticking with the miui.

Have alternatives of both instead though because of the storage limitations.
Never mind I guess, £219.99 isn't bad for a Moto X Play.
How on Earth has a phone with no expandable memory and only 16gb got this much heat?
You couldn't pay me that price for me too keep this phone.

"Man who take white phone on to building site, he fall down badly get crushed by crane, they bury him at sea to hide evidence"
There is one advantage which never seems to get mentioned of having no memory card and that is if you have the phone stolen. Without the pin etc they won't be able to use the phone and you can easily bar the IMEI number but they can still take the memory card out and stick it in a pc to view all your juicy pics.
Also, if you're feeling brave you can install Franco kernel, that allows you to control the intensity of the vibrator (ooooh-er...)
I want my SU6 back...
But has been un-expired and is now active again!
