Wow, don't know why this has been downvoted.. this is an excellent phone and I have one. Don't know about aliexpress, but the phone is top notch. Paid £120 for mine last year and is still going very strong, have just loaded another ROM on it so it's now running Android 6.0, have never had a problem with mine at all and there's loads of ROMs if you have bugs with a different one. Not all chinese phones are like the ones you describe though. I ordered for my brother the elephone p9000 lite and it has all the 4g bands that we use, I checked. Also looked at some other elephone phone models and they are mostly the same... the p9000, M3 both have all the bands too according to specs.
I get where you're coming from, but it's a bit false to claim that all chinese phones are missing the 800Mhz band which are the ones most people seem to care about.

I have this as my main phone. It's alright. The T760 GPU is slow on full-HD, so higher-end games are quite slow - despite it getting around 45K (if I recall correctly) on Antutu. It's also laggy from time to time, and mine has some suspect Chinese software on it that can't be removed without rooting etc. Screen is lovely and it's well made in all other respects. Most of the ROMs out there have at least one thing wrong with them, so I've not really bothered tinkering with it that much. I'd recommend at this price.

Yes... alixpress, where HUD has a grey area on chinese stuff that has no warranty. Ah well its good to see some Lenovo Phones back on here again, lets see what the discussion will be.
1. Does it have google play - maybe if you ask them nicely.
2. Warranty - ahahahaha, yeah bout that return postage tho.
3. Chinese spyware - probably, so they will know how much you love visiting HUD.
4. Import tax - maybe yes, depends, well who knows.
This is the Mobile equivalent of a punt at the bookies.

Rubbish my friend. This phone requires some work (root and soft) but it's a really good handset and its spec in many points matches or exceeds iPhone 6 plus' that costs number of times more.Lenovo seems to have good quality control, also the sellers usually check the devices prior sending so getting faulty phone is not common.

The stock VibeUI rom does not have Google Play store, but it is easy to flash Gapps, most if not all custom roms have Google Play store preinstalled as well. Chances are it will ship with a modified rom anyway with Google Play store installed and Multilanguage pack, though I would personally opt to reflash with a known rom.

Here is the biggest discussion thread on roms: xda-developers
I haven't tried any 6.0 roms yet, but of those I have tried, I preferred the greeshan cleaned up VibeUI, scroll down to second from bottom for the one I prefer: greeshan
There is a 6.0 greeshan rom but I just haven't bothered trying any yet, I thought I'll wait a bit longer as it runs so well on 5.1 anyway.

Don't let the rooting and adding a ROM put you off.
I followed this lads step by step instructions.
All good but the seller has poor reputation with low number of orders so far, its important to stick with good sellers when its comes to China shopping. Aliexpress started puting pressure on sellers for a while now to get better general reputation of the site a lot of fakes simply disappointed from site. There is about 5 good sellers with phones when it come to ali and this isn't one of them.

The hardest part for me was getting TWRP onto the handset using SP Flash Tools, mainly because the driver wasn't playing nice, I had to reinstall it a couple of times to get it to see the handset and start flashing TWRP. Once that was done it was straightforward to do everything else.

A few points; the official ROW ROM (for non-Chinese markets) is very clean and is easily flashed to the phone with SP Tools (but follow instructions!). This has had a recent update to the official 6.0 MM ROM. battery seems to run out a bit faster, strangely, as it was supposed to improve battery life. You can now choose for the SD card to be an integral part of the memory or separate (if integral, you can't see it with Windows). A few bugs such as the scheduled power on and off- switches off fine, but not on! There was a minor update to fix things switching on automatically.
Is there a ROM available that's close to stock Android?

There have been some recent CyanogenMod releases which look pretty good. You should check on Needrom for reviews and then download from the link that I posted above 9as you need to register with them).
Between hackerpower's thread over at XDA that has been mentioned (http://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/general/organized-thread-lenovo-k3-note-k50-t3158522) and http://www.needrom.com/category/lenovo/serial-k/k-50/

I forgot to add that you can get 4G as well with Three on this phone, which I was worried about before I bought it!
As I recall the phone came with a load of spyware and really wasn't in a good state software-wise when it first arrived, but rooting and flashing custom recovery and custom rom wasn't difficult (easier than with my last phone where you had to unlock the bootloader).
There are a plethora of roms out there for this phone, and a lot of "unofficial" support. If you are comfortable messing around phones this one is a bargain for the price

wpj
15 Apr 16#39
The official one works fine (if you don't need root). Only glitch that I (and my son) have found is the scheduled on and off- the on does not work. The GPS is vastly improved as well as you can get Glonass- went from 12 satellites to 22.
Link to the ROM I'm using at the moment... for noobs, don't forget to make a backup before you flash a new ROM, just in case you want to go back to it, everyone has different tastes and uses different apps on phones so won't be the same experience for all. Update TWRP version before flashing.. very easy to do.

An 'Image' File of some sort ...
Eg. an ISO Image of your Windows OS CD/DVD as a Software Backup method of your Hardware Disc, in-case your original gets scratched, etc?.
A ROM Image of a SNES Game that will run on your MAC, your Windows PC, your LINUX PC, etc etc via a respective compatible Emulator/Emulators (similar in principle to that of VM - Virtual Machine Software) in which to play it in ...
So there's not 1 universal/generic terminology for the 'ROM' word, but you get the picture?. :-)
But the one closer to what you asked is in my first definition though ..... lol. :-)

ROM is Read Only Memory and is a very common term, it's just been taken over somewhat by the modding community to label a "rip" or "image" of a phone/tablet memory partition that can be written/saved etc to another phone/tablets memory in essence. It also refers to a game module "cart" image too.

Might get this for my lil sister, will it get marshmallow?
Easier than learning Chinese and reading the official forums bro.
To answer your second question, yes, VibeUI is the official release from Lenovo, Marshmallow came out of beta with the first stable release recently. Though when I eventually can be bothered to flash my phone to Marshmallow, I will either go with the cuoco or greeshan releases, they are both based on the official VibeUI, but cleaned of Chinese software that is useless to us, more languages added, pre-rooted and Gapps installed (Google Apps, if you go for the official VibeUI, it has not got Google Play by default and you have to install this manually, cuoco and greeshan have pre-installed this). Cuoco is a cleaner release, with very little added, however greeshan adds a few useful utilities such as Titanium Backup Pro in the last version I installed, and (at least with the last version) the English language pack seemed a little better.

A word of warning for anyone using this phone in the UK, Dont update to the official stock ROW Marshmallow ROM if you are using Life Mobile, it will break your mobile data connection.
I have this phone, and it runs fine on the International Stock ROW ROM (Lollipop), however upgrading to Marshmallow stopped my mobile data from working. Downgrading back to old Lollipop ROM fixed the issue. I have reported this to Lenovo via their forums.
