Haha, yeah its a much bigger car than I expected, but not quite Mondeo size.

I have a new qashqai and I'd say that size wise it's basically identical inside, the only difference is the Pulsar is lower to the ground.

I got a phone call a couple of days ago telling me it would be ready sometime this month coz they have sped up production.

I got the wife a 5 year old 1.4 i-vtec EX model Honda Jazz with 41k on the clock for £5,500 it was a private sale I found on Auto Trader 18+ months back.

We'll run the car for another couple of years, then sell it for what it's worth at that time, my guess would be about £2500/3000 she only does between 5k and 7k a year so it'll be somewhere around the 65k when I flog it on.

Then I'd normally repeat the process all again, using the money from the sale of the old car towards the next car.

Bit of a pain in the **** looking for the right car at the right price and making sure your not buying a pile of poop, but it's worked for me so far.

But at this price, I don't think it's worth the hassle of the hunt if I'm truthful. With leasing deals like this being available I'll be in the market for a deal like this in about 2 year's or so, unless she stuffs it up beforehand. Heat

It seems odd that people argue the value of a lease - the point is surely that as long as its the cheapest you can lease this model of car, then the deal is hot.
My wifes car goes back to the lease company this friday - she had had the use of a new car at 10k miles a year for three years stress free at a fixed price per month - we pick up another one on saturday.

This looks good. I am seriously thinking about this but 8k a year is no distance at all. My work is 20 miles away so commute is over 10k a year with no other use.

How much per each additional mile over 8k? Probably other (more expensive) packages available I guess.

you honestly have to be a bit thick to go for these. you can get a new one for 11k. it will depreciate by 2k max in 2 years, but you dont have limited mileage and you dont have to pay for damage caused.

Oneday77 to delicatejew
22 Apr 16 4 #59
Really I must be a bit thick or this cars depreciation is amazing
It loses just over £1,800 Vat the second you pay for it. So are you stating that after 16k miles this will lose less than £200 in actual value depreciation?

I reckon you're maybe comparing prices with used models sitting priced up at a dealer. You'd be lucky to get £7k back after 2 years on a trade in.
pglfc to delicatejew
23 Apr 16 #74
2k depreciation is a dream on any car after 2 years, you will lose that after 6 months. And you do have to fix any damage you cause if you plan on selling it for a decent price.

Usually these cars are brand new with warranty for at least 2 years, you pay no road tax and don't have the hassle of selling the car after a few years. It can certainly be a rip off if you go with a silly deal but this isn't.

I've never had a lease car, but if I wanted a new car it's a good way to get one instead of putting all your capital up front. In that respect I'll vote HOT, because it's only £99 a month for a new car, however be aware that this particular model is grossly underpowered.
brooky_agn
23 Apr 16 1 #66
Completely agree. Leasing is a mugs game. IMO if you don't care what people think then shopping hard for pre registered under dog car (like this) can get you a bargain.

I drive a Hyundai i30. Yes it's not cool. I don't care. Less than a year old with 10k on it for HALF list price.

That's the sensible way to buy a motor in my books.
delicatejew
22 Apr 16 #64
As said, £9000 is the absolute lowest price you will find a 2 year old example. There are also many examples priced much higher, but I did not mention them. £9000 is a very realistic selling price. Frankly, It is your money, spend it how you wish.
boostii
22 Apr 16 2 #63
What he said, ditto.

Everyone on this website scours the entire internet to find a one in a million super cheap leasing deal then compares against buying the car new at manufacturers rrp. Nobody pays rrp, the same cars they need to shift with a cheap lease, they will shift with cheap sales too. If you look you can buy brand new cars or cars with a handful of miles for little more than 2 year old used examples are sellthem ng for. My last car was ordered pre-release on a brand new model and quite a waiting list on it. I still got it 10% discount on rrp. Would hope to get a hell of a lot more of a Nissan Pulsar.
Oneday77
22 Apr 16 1 #62
So you think that comparing a pre-registered cars price against the price someone wants for a 2 year old car, is the measure of depreciation. Then I'm afraid you don't quite grasp the concept properly.

Good bargain for an ugly car. I always think twice about leasing - because I've never had a car that didn't suffer some major scratch or scrape within 2 years - and I think they'd want hundreds to put such things right. I'd only had my latest cat a week when some nice person left 3 4 inch scratches on rear door in a Tesco car park - of course they drove away in their green car (colour of the scratches from their door I presume).

22 Apr 16 1 #47
I got the Pulsar 1.5 Diesel 3 weeks ago from the other Nissan main dealership in Birmingham (Digbeth). It was 8k per annum, on a 6 + 23 profile at £151 per month (so £4,379 in total?), no metalic paint as that was an extra £550 so ended up with the base red. However while it was £1,200 more expensive over the 2 years mine is the range topping Tekna (full leather, all round 4 cameras, electric folding mirrors, uprated alloys etc etc) over this base Visia model so I still think my deal was ok - but if this was available when i got mien i may have saved the money and got the base model. Delivery was only 2 weeks from Barcelona (allegedly) and includes the 2 years Road Tax. If you go over the miles its 6p a mile i think - didn't pay too much attention to that bit as we will still be well under.

Had a little seat in this and it's actually a lot better, way bigger inside despite not being bigger externally, proper tardis car, I'm over 2m tall and I was able to sit in the front adjust the seat then get out and sit comfortably in the rear seat something I can't even do in any of our Mercedes or Volvos.
