Have to disagree re not being a patch on Lagavulin 16yo malt.
Far prefer the smooth smoky peatiness of the Laphroaig quarter cask.
Cant wait for July when Im driving the Scotland 500 mile north coast run (6.5 hr drive to the start in Inverness.
Will be detouring to Islay where nearly every village produces a premium malt brand i.e .Lagavulin,Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain (finished the bars bottle the other week at the Market Tavern in Chester le Street fantastic malt), Bowmore,Ardbeg etc etc

Not a patch on Lagavulin 16, which is only a little bit more when quarter cask is at its normal price. This isn't bad but very expensive for essentially a 5 year old whisky

Yes if Lagavulin 16 was £25 pounds its a better whisky, but i have never seen it at £25 so its not directly comparable at this price so we could play that game all day. I think quarter cask is between 5-8 years mostly but i could be wrong, the tsmaller casks make it taste much more mature and its the end result that matters.

Great to know you sell it meaning there must be a demand from knowledgeable fine whisky drinkers.

I'll go with otherwise.... And say no but I do work in a bar, and I can honestly say that this is the worst tasting drink we sell

This will probably be one of the better spirits in the bar aside from more mature or artisan spirits, despite you not liking it. I get that you might personally not like a peaty whisky but as someone who works in a bar very surprised you cant appreciate it's quality.
Personally i love a Laproiag quarter cask, tastes much older than its years due to the casks being smaller and more cask surface to liquid ratio, great idea and great whisky for the price. I prefer this over many more expensive Islay drams.

Try it with some water (try half and half to start). it loosens up quite a bit and becomes much less intense. Once you "get it" you will find yourself reaching for it again but adding less water.
