I've got this and it isn't actually a kenwood product, it's a curry's product with the name stuck on it only found out this when there was a problem, the doors are wonky and no way of levelling them!

The currys sales rep did tell me they owned Kenwood. hugely disappointing, im sure they used to be a good brand years ago. now they don't give more than 1yr warranty while their competitors offer 2-5 years. doesn't look like they have much confidence in their product.

Yup that's true; Dixons Carphone own Kenwood / JVC

They legally have to give you a 2 year warranty since we are (at least for now) part of the EU. Most companies will fail to tell you this but if you push them for it they are required to give you it.

We have one, it's actually made by hisense. Ours also has door issues with one being lower than the other - I think they're all like that but the seals are fine. Ours also has an issue where the touch controls stop working after a few hours. We only paid £360 eight months ago, it works but I wouldn't recommend one.

Currys own Kenwood.

How did a brand like Kenwood end up being owned by Currys? But then one also wonders how Dunlop is owned by SportsDirect!! Few brands are what they used to be back in the day.

Sadly most decent brand names are being bought up by the likes of these companies and unaware customers think they are buying quality from the name.
I like to call it the 'Fat Ashley Effect'
Just thought I would add this relevant piccie of a total cu*t!!!! I expect the 'toon' will go down this season and lets hope for the great toon army fans get shut and rebuld the club they deserve.
Dimensions listed are the same except for the depth, which might be because of thicker door handles. Touchscreen element seems slightly bigger too. Internals look more or less identical though, except for 1 fewer pullout trays at the bottom of fridge and freezer.
For what it's worth, we've had the Bush for a couple of years and it's fine. The doors make a disconcertingly clunky noise opening and closing, as if the mechanism has somehow warped - annoying as it was smooth and silent when new, but doors close and seal fine and it looks after its contents well.
Can't really in conscience vote this hot though as people see Kenwood and expect something nearer top of the line than this is. It's a generic fridge-freezer that's evidently being rebadged by a host of different stores.

They just license the brand as both companies have withdrawn from consumer electronics. Confusingly Kenwood is already a brand for kitchen appliances, mixers etc. Normally you wouldn't have two identical brands in near enough the same market sector. The original Japanese Kenwood was a brand for hifi and car audio and at one time was sold under the Trio brand in the UK. You wonder if you could return a Kenwood Currys white goods product at any point or seek compensation due to misleading branding. Can the Beatles license the apple brand for use on mobile phones? Just seems wrong that Currys can use a consumer electronics brand on a white goods product when there is already a competing brand of the same name in the same sector.

I didn't know that!
Handy to know. They were both respected brands. Kenwood for HiFi and speakers (separates as they were back in the day) and JVC for audio visual. Then again, I am person who grew up in the 80's when Marty McFly used a JVC camcorder to film Doc Brown...

Is this Kenwood the appliance brand or Kenwood the hifi brand? Really hard to tell on the Currys site. I think its the Delonghi sub brand (Kenwood Chef mixer etc) nothing to do with the Japanese Kenwood/JVC group.

I have a standard Kenwood fridge-freezer that I recently bought and it's pretty good, keeps all food fresh long past it's expiry date.

It's not owned by Currys. It is just a licence that they have to use the Kenwood name. You will also find JVC, some Panasonic, some LG and some Samsung TV's are also not made by the relevant companies.

Thanks, yeah that's what I meant and you're right, Turkey's Vestel and UMC of Slovakia between them own a large no. of AV equipment brands including Toshiba, Sharp, Blaupunkt, Finlux etc.

Just look at the Currys website & found Daewoo American Style Fridge Freezer is quite cheap considering their brand.
I have one & need to consider to buy it for my mom.
It is 2 year manufacture warranty!!!
Under EU rules you always have the right to a minimum 2-year guarantee at no cost.
This 2-year guarantee is your minimum right. National rules in your country may give you extra protection: however, any deviation from EU rules must always be in the consumer's best interest.
If goods you bought anywhere in the EU turn out to be faulty or do not look or work as advertised, the seller must repair or replace them free of charge or give you a price reduction or a full refund.
True, but we did not sign up for this so my comment stands. Nonsense.

I know its an additional expense but personally I prefer to take Currys up on the £4.50 per month care plan and not worry about it again. Eventually it will break beyond repair and they will just replace it

Our experience of the Currys whatever happens/knowhow insurance warranty goes like this: Bought a TV for £1000 - its written off nine months later and we received a £750 Currys gift card to buy a replacement, they had deducted £250 for nine months usage. At no point were we offered a direct replacement. Luckily for us the store we bought it from gave us a massive reduction on a replacement TV.
Its not worth the paper its written on and you're best off using your (free) consumer rights to pursue a retailer for a repair/replacement/refund in the event something goes wrong for upto six years from the date of purchase. That said if you absolutely must have some sort of extended piece of mind warranty - John Lewis is the best way to go.

I thought this worked out to be a really good deal when I needed one :)
The reviews on reevoo are also almost universally positive https://www.reevoo.com/p/kenwood-kff2dw14 :)
