Caveat emptor on deals like this but seems a cheap price for an iPhone if you need one to run devices that only work with iOS etc.
Don't forget the PayPal promotion where they pay return postage fees. May need it based on some reviews, but at least you wouldn't be footing the bill.
check out o2 refurbs, £20 more but majority are a brand new phone and no worries about the condition of these

I've been saying for months that heat ratings here are a waste of space. If a deal is of interest to someone it's worth posting. But caveat emptor rules here as much as in Tesco.
I've completely given up posting hot or cold on anything now. And I certainly don't trawl through the 'hot' list.

Both yourself and the OP have no idea when you post these phone refurb deals how any one handset is going to arrive. So I personally believe that somebody who posts refurb phone deals taking shots at another poster due to 'potentially damaged' phones is a little rich.

24 Apr 161#23
If I buy a second hand car I don't expect it to look new. I do expect it to work tho. so a few minor scratches is normal and dent with a hammer isn't. However, it seems that you want to be pedantic so obviously you only ever buy things which are new.
mynameisthehulk
24 Apr 161#24
There is no need to apologise  I personally believe that you are far more likely to get a device in decent condition from o2 or Argos than you are from Universalgadgets. It also is likely to be significantly easier to deal with any problems you may face with o2 or Argos than it would be with Universalgadgets. I would assume I don't need to explain the rationale behind that to you?

That is a fair comment. Let me clarify.
You are spending £134 on a phone that is likely to have :-
- Moderate scratches and scuffs on the aluminium back casing and sides
From a seller sells items with the following descriptions from buyers :-
- Faulty item received.Seller refused refund. Opened a ebay case and they refunded
- 'Excellent working condition' the microphone doesn't work!!! Refund please!
- Screen failed after 5 days. Sent back. Told I must have dropped it. Useless.

Guys be aware that this sellers grading may not be up to standard. I recently purchased an iPhone 5s and as the advert states good to excellent condition.
This is open to interpretation as the phone I received had three dinks to the outside case as from being dropped, as well as being scratched. To bits on the apple logo and at that time I had paid £169.99. I promptly sent the phone back for refund where they offered a model in better condition, I wanted my money back and they were trying not give me a refund and wanted me send pictures of as proof. I told them I would have to contact eBay PayPal etc only then they offered me a refund. I would never use these again. Just my experience.

I originally bought 2 from this seller when there was the £50 off eBay code. Phones came. 1 st was really dented with big indents all going. 2nd had 1 big dent with a chip from front screen as well. Sent both back requesting full refund. Eventually got refund. Bought from o2 refresh in the end. Was a little more expensive. But it is like brand new. With proper Apple 12 months warranty.
I'd avoid this seller.

I would NOT buy a phone off this seller! I have purchased an iPhone 4S "Refurb" off them before and it was in poor condition for an apparently "good' condition phone! Scratches all over the screen, pressure damage to the screen and even the water damage indicator had gone off! If you're going to get a used one buy it from music magpie!

The same deal was on here 5/6 weeks ago.
I bought one from these. Pls dont let the heat on this deal mislead you as many just read the deal and heat it up.
Here is my experience
I think It was £137 then. I bought one. The phone came in 2 weeks probably due to the p&p as they already sold 3000+ of these 5s.
I didnt mind waiting for a cheap and excellent 5s for my son.
However phone that came was far from good to excellent.
It had lots of deep scratches all around and aluminium case corners were damaged.
The phone was not switched on and checked as it was posted straight away back to them. I don't have any clue on the battery life.
Maybe it was my bad luck and probably the phone would work fine but if you are expecting a clean phone, i would say keep away, don't buy from them. Hope this helps someone planning to buy one

I notice he hasn't been back to this thread since he was called out, although with all the support on this thread from "helpers" it is no wonder it has ended up hot...
Unfortunately it seems that HUKD is going down the pan as the voting is not to be trusted any more. Good deals from genuine users are often voted cold where poor deals with support from the site are promoted.
esskay92
25 Apr 161#60
Indeed, hulk. This place is a mess when HUKD's own "Deal Editor" can't differentiate between the refurbishment standards of o2 and an eBay seller that has racked up 1873 negative feedback in the past 12 months (and 174 in the last month alone) - and that's excluding all the neutral. I mean, the eBay listing itself says "Moderate scratches and scuffs on the aluminium back casing and sides" whereas o2 describe their refurbished as used but "fully restored to its original state, so it's as good as a new phone". I bought a refurbished iPhone 5 from o2 a year ago, and it was practically new. And frankly, I'd much rather deal with o2 for warranty issues than 'universalgadgets01'.
I'm not sure what's more of a joke...his comment, or that 40 others actually liked his comment. /facepalm
Might be time to retire the "Deal Editor" title if this is the best response you can muster.

25 Apr 161#61
Unfortunately never going to happen. The votes on this deal have clearly been manipulated so heavily it is clearly getting support from those that are operating the site. It went hot right away yesterday before being voted back down to around 70 degrees, before another ton of hot votes took it over 100 again and then the sheep factor kicked in to where we are now. Similar occurrence to a couple of weeks ago where a very average deal with a HUKD specific voucher code was voted instantly hot. It seems that the site has become a vehicle to generate click through traffic to certain sites and not a community for sharing deals any more. As for all the likes on the comment, I would hazard a guess that the way votes are manipulated is through multiple accounts, I would suggest they all decided to like his nonsense at the same time as they voted hot.
You only have to look at the comments on the thread to see it must be manipulated. Not one person has stated this is a good deal and there a quite a few comments saying its poor or giving details of poor experiences with the seller. It's a fcking disgrace to be frank.

Guys, I posted this same deal 3 weeks ago and here are my facts:
1: I posted it as a bit of a laugh, fully expecting it to go very cold, I'd never posted an Appled deal before.
2: I had not noticed the deal mentioned a few days earlier in the voucher deal.
3: I have no affiliation whatsoever with HUKD other than being a forum member.
4: I saw many hundreds of positive votes being registered as time went by and nothing looked crooked.
5: I've posted other deals that have gone hot (the £99 Dell micro desktop for example) and the voting appeared to go positive in a similar manner.
I don't know how the HUKD heat/cold calculator functions but am sure it is not a linear scoring, so as more votes come in the heat increases exponentially. I think there are a number of factors as to why a deal soars in heat or goes freezing cold.
Did the management do some vote manipulation? - I think it is highly unlikely, genuine people appeared to vote hot on my deal. I think they would also prefer those questions to go to them privately to discuss.
However you can only take my word for the above and you might think I'm on the take and somehow benefited from the deal - whilst I'd have loved a free iphone 5s or a Dell micro desktop, I got neither.....or any other perk other than getting a VIP badge which I quite liked.
mynameisthehulk
25 Apr 16#63
Yeah that is one thing that has made me curious. You are definitely not a shthead or on the take but you have to accept the voting patterns on these have been quite odd? Most of my hot deals have taken 3-4 hours to get to 100 degrees whereas these seem to get there much faster.
