My sister has a non-removable battery in her Xperia T. It's easy to replace, however (I did it for her - as simple as removing a screw and the back case). Not sure if it's the case with these Chinese phones, or whether they'll be easy to source.

ordered! ^_^ hope its as good as it looks.
as I said i used an infocus briefly before (for about a month) sold it on as was 5.5 inch screen too big. I did a lot of reading prior to getting it as had never heard of the brand and was a bit anxious but it actually ran smoothly. I popped a launcher on it and it was as good as. If i'd put a case on it and asked an average joe to use that and a galaxy note they probably wouldnt have known the difference. Camera wasn't dire either.
Fingers crossed this on doesn't disappoint.
would love to hear anyone else who has ordered or who has it.

Can we just post a link to Gear Best so HUKD can get even more revenue from them? It's China, no VAT (tax evasion/fraud), no warranty to write about, it's a risk.

25 Apr 16#34
It doesn't, according to this reviewer https://youtu.be/RLX2cmjjniI?t=947 (at 15:47). You can, you just won't get LTE (4G) speeds. http://www.4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know/ There are a total of 5 different frequencies used in the UK used by the mobile networks to deliver their 2G, 3G and 4G mobile services.

It's fairly clear that they are jealous you're getting heat for a good deal whereas their deal was slammed cold. 'Analysing your deals' on HUKD seems to mean voting cold on anything that competes with their deal and criticising if they didn't spot it first, happens in all threads.
cjsanandreas
25 Apr 161#36
I don't think he means the manufacturer, they tend to be pretty reputable. It's more that he is worried the seller will flash the phone with dodgy firmware or install spyware before shipping, which is a very real risk depending who you buy from.

There was some strange shizzles going on in the Gearbest threads last night (maybe related to the weird comments I was getting on my threads?). I have only ever bought Chinese electronics/tat from DX or ebay but of course we have to be cautious when buying from these sites.

pity some of these Chinese phones are not on gsmarena, as the main thing i always want to know about these phones is whether it has NFC?
louiselouise
26 Apr 16#43
Saw that question asked a few times on reviews, apparently it doesn't :disappointed:
FooM
26 Apr 161#44
NFC isn't supported by the Mediatek chips that most of the cheapo Chinese phones use. Mediatek have their own implementation called Hotknot but it's not compatible. NFC isn't widely used in China I believe.
thanks for your response...pity it doesnt though :disappointed:

26 Apr 16#47

27 Apr 16#49
If you're worried about the possibility of a dodgy third party rom you can try to flash a stock rom direct from the manufacturer, that way you're getting the phone exactly as it came from the factory. People post stock roms on forums or blogs, but if you're paranoid you should only download from the manufacturers own website, although you'll probably have to break out google translate. There may also be community roms for the more popular phones, take a look on xda-developers for example.
A stock rom probably won't have the play store or any google services and may have pre-installed China specific apps. Some manufacturers market their phones outside China in which case they are more likely to offer a 'global' or 'international' rom with the Chinese apps removed and probably google play store installed.
I don't know much about Infocus phones but it looks like they retail them in India so presumably they have stock roms without the Chinese stuff for that market.

louiselouise

have ran malwarebytes and came back clean. ran 360 security and found something "fradulant messanger" or sth but allowed me to click on the resolve button.
i've browsed through the app list under settings and the only one I see which I'm not sure what is is something called "pandora's box" and pandora's box service 3.6mb and 86kb respecively.
under app permissions for the second it basically lists everythings phone calls, texts, camera , audio gps, contacts, set alarm , screen lock, add move acounds, change system settings, change network connections, control flashlight.....
neither can be uninstalled from the phone just force stopped.
does anyone have any idea.
i have googed pandoras box which comes up to be an app BUT in my app tray it doesnt appear so it's NOT the actual app I have installed.
