Flash sale on Whey protein plus the 30% code is a very good price. Works out at 17p a serving which contains 20g of Whey protein, bargain.
May want to amend the title/price to reflect this price instead as it may attract more heat?

good deal. personally i prefer the the isolate one. purer form of protein.
adsham to mr_waazo
11 Apr 162#8
Careful, that's not really accurate. Whey isolate is made from whey concentrate - but has gone through further processing and filtering (to produce a higher protein content). However during the further processing it can degrade the biological activity of some of the peptides - some believe making it less "healthy" and possibly harder to digest
Whilst isolate is marketed as a premium whey, I'd research the differences and the risks/benefits of the different types. For me whey concentrate is as good (if not better) than isolate (when considering all factors - including price) - of course there are different opinions and theories - but for most it really it just comes down to consuming the right amount of protein at the right times.
Hot deal by the way

I'm a novice could anyone explain when to take this for instance if I was going to lift weights for 40 mins in the evening 6pm say, when would you take the serving,I read that you need a gram of protein per pound of body weight I'm 210 pounds so would want to take 4 servings if possible so I dont have to buy too much food and eat all day and how long would the 5kg last if you had 4 servings a day?
paulj48 to wilson1973
11 Apr 161#15
4 servings is 100 grams so there's 200 servings in 5kg.
I take 4 servings a day, once with breakfast, train around lunch time and take 2 servings immediately after, then another serving a few hours after my tea. On non training days I'll reduce the double serving in the day to just 1.

Throw some fish into your meals too mate, say Tuna for instance. Theres alot of people that think they're experts, some may know more than others but if you ask me log onto Shaw academy and do their sports nutrition course for free. its full of information far more than i expected and will set you on the correct road to start with
Having protein with carbohydrate within 30 minutes of exercise is recommended and some chocolate milk is plenty good enough.

Protein shakes are not meal replacements nor are they magical gym elixirs that you need for a workout. They are a convenient dose of protein and that's it, everything else is just myth and marketing. The 1g per lb is a good example of this as research shows no benefit to taking more than 0.64-0.82g per lb as explained here.
Timing is also pretty irrelevant. You're not going to miss out on anything because you forgot to drink a shake 10 minutes after the "deadline". Personally I'm always starving after a session so a shake is a good intermediate till I can get some actual food in me.
You sound like you're asking if you can you eat less food and more shakes, I.e 4 at once? These are not calorific enough or nutritious enough to skip eating. If you're just starting out, you're probably already getting enough protein from your diet. As a novice, concentrate on your technique, form etc, and eating a bit better first then start worrying about supplements!
ronald484848 to wilson1973
12 Apr 16#59
If you're going to be training like that then food is much more important than the amount of protein shake you're drinking. I can stress enough how important food is when training to aid recovery and ensure you have enough energy and feel good! Drink one protein shake after your training and then maybe one more as a snack. You need to eat carbohydrates on your training days and also get healthy fats in your diet like eggs or avocado!

u get what u pay for, proteinworks is much better.
The Protein Works Whey Protein 80 – it is ever so slightly more expensive than Myprotein and Bulk Powders, but it is the outstanding quality of this product that sees it reach for 1st place on our list. It contains a highly impressive macronutrient ratio, especially for a concentrate. It is available in some really exciting flavours (is also available unflavoured) and mixes really well. The ingredients are clean, it contains a patented absorption blend and is certified non GMO. It has also ranked as the joint most effective protein supplement with Optimum Gold Standard – but at half the price, there could only be one winner. It may be priced as a budget supplement, but it meets all the criteria of a premium.
na197 to Ashamuk
12 Apr 16#73
so what do you base that it's better on? it's whey protein concentrate, seems to have the same calories, grams etc. ultimately it's just processed food, it's only useful for ensuring you have enough protein in your diet for your goals, but in a convenient fashion. whey is whey.

You need a shake in the morning and one within 30 mins MAXIMUM after a workout. Any later than that and u may aswel leave it till 2 hours before bed. After u train, you're Muscles go into a catabolic state and demand protein from your body to repair it. If you take a shake soon after you have finished training, the body uses this easily absorbed source of protein an repairs faster. This also helps prevent the post workout ache the next day. Unless you are getting into weight training seriously, 2 shakes a day is plenty to start off. Eat nuts and small tins of Tuna to top up throughout the day as snacks between meals. Hope this helps!

I have such a love hate relationship with myprotein. I've been buying from Myprotein for years and samples loads of different products and flavours. When it comes to there protein some of the flavours are dreadful at best and other are nice, it's down to preference as we're all different. I find there customer service bad, if you have a problem with anything, good luck getting it solved. It's a deal this, just be careful on selection and I'd say, play it safe when it comes to the flavour you choose!

I make my own milkshakes out of the unflavoured using fresh fruit and milk, you can't taste the horrid flavour of the unflavoured protein and you avoid all the flavourings and sweeteners of the flavoured powders.
I wouldn't recommend drinking the unflavoured stuff on its own tho, it depends if you can be bothered to make your own drinks using it. I make mine in my nutribullet and they taste amazing.

More protein per serving and lower price. If I want a nice milkshake I'll make one, no issue gulping unflavoured down with some cold water. It's also more versatile in that you can use it to make protein pancakes or fire it in the blender to make a shake of whatever flavour takes your fancy rather than trying to use 5KG of the same boring flavour.

I buy my protein from myprotein, seems to do the job and ranked highly on labdoor, as others have mentioned before though, protein is just processed food item, just designed to hit your protein macro for your goals easier, it won't be any more effective at making you "big" then a chicken breast. Btw all supplements are a massive scam, other than creatine, please don't fall for the different versions of protein either, like casein, isolate etc, effects the same as concentrate, just charge you more.

Been there, done that. I ended up having powder over and not enough Flavor drops so had to buy more just to use the powder up. Ended up spending more that just buying flavoured in the first place.
It also has a very strong smell even when the lids on tight so the kitchen cupboards stink, and the odd time I've been rushing in the morning getting my shaker ready for work and have forgotten to add the drops only to realise a few hours later once at work.
Yes you can have different flavours but if I wanted a nice tasting shake I'd just make one, this protein shake is just for the protein content only, I'm not bothered that much about flavour and it just gets necked as quick as possible.

Typical myprotein manoeuvre, adjusted the price this morning. So now the unflavoured costs £46.79 prior to discount. The flavoured costs £57.19 prior to discount. So for anyone trying to get the same deal as yesterday i.e buy 10kg to avoid delivery and entering the discount code of 30OFF. It will now cost £22 more. Title needs adjusting.

Read through all the comments just out of interest really. This is exactly why the supplement industry is a multi-million pound industry. Firstly as some have mentioned (in the know) Whey will never and should not replace food. Most of you commenting will be an average gym goer so it is not needed.I confess to taking it but only because I work long hours and it is convenient.
Flavoured is full and I mean full of sweeteners and gums generally so unflavoured is actually much better. You take it for a purpose not to sip on it in the hope it tastes like a McDonald milkshake. Make your own - 2 scoops, almond milk, small banana, frozen blueberries and cinnamon, some oats if you want carbs.
