This should be marked as expired. No UK ikea store is now offering this despite it still being on the website (presumably an oversight)

Elementary business means design point for a product unit cost based on customer need (= production cost), then apply elementary economics, which is supply and demand curve, then maximise profit, which is what you are saying. This deal is a loss leader, so as to what you get for £1 , then I would be most interested to see people take snap shots of their fish and chips so as to gauge how hot this gets (obviously the more IKEA subsidise this the better the quality). You can be 100% sure that an analytics program would run on the Family Card customers to see the IKEA purchases versus meal costs subsidised.

If you're saying you get what you pay for (I didn't find your comment easy to follow) then I don't agree. Getting what you pay for is a myth. Elementary Economics teaches us that sellers will normally sell for the highest price they can and buyers will want to pay the lowest price. If they can get away with it, cheap food is sold at a high price (e.g. British supermarkets). The quality is rarely linked to the price paid.

There is £1 sourced "sea" and £10 sourced "sea", that's the smart point, you get the "sea" you pay for, namely, in elementary basics of life, caveat emptor.

Why don't you cycle/walk then... only a few miles... then you could refuel with a bit of carbs and protein and cycle/walk back.

Glasgow was beside the airport and iirc Liverpool is close. It was just an observation I made, I thought there was a reason behind it.

Ikea have adopted this tried and tested marketing scheme with their One Pound Fish. Other retailers should take note:
Farming salmon uses much less resources than any mammals, especially water, so I can still see the point in that.

The idea that all meat is intensively reared and that all fish happily swim free is a bit binary. By that logic, a pescatarian should prefer stalked venison to farmed salmon.

Depends how you define "close" and "a lot". If you mean "literally next door" and "more than 50%" respectively, none of the ones in England are close to airports. As for the island of Ireland, all of the stores are next door to airports ... all two of them (Belfast and Dublin). Handy if you forgot to pack the kitchen sink just before jetting off.

I've also had this offer twice, portions are small. Don't forget to ask for your lemon wedge and tartare sauce. Hot dog on the way out will fill the rest

You might be onto something though, maybe a drag-net for cows?
I've had this a couple of weeks ago I took a pic (sad person that I am) because I couldn't believe how good value for money it was, how do I post the pic? There were loads of mums with kids in tow, a cheap way to fill them all up I guess!

It has always puzzled me why there are people who would eat 100 dead creatures in a prawn cocktail, but not 1/100th of a dead creature in a burger. And where does the pescatarian line fall? Are sea snails fish (like mussels) and what's the qualitative difference between a sea snail and a land snail?

Not necessarily, it could have been sourced from a fish farm, if so it would be a bit of a stretch to say the fish came from the sea.
