I have had this for 3 months. Brilliant coverage and no problems. As its on the three network you can use it abroad at no extra cost. Saved me £800 in Spain last month. Great service don't be put off by the negative comments.

Other operators could (and do) have the ability to take your 30 days' notice as soon as you've placed an order. Remember I called to give my notice the same day I placed the order. ID's excuse is that that they can't take my notice until I activate my SIM, but they *can* start billing me for it straight away.

Tell me how that's *not* crooked.

By the way, I haven't recommended any specific mobile provider. I'm sure they're all horrific, and the world would be a better place without them (which is why I'm on PAYG). ID Mobile just happens to be the most horrific at the moment.

Could they? Which other network provider does that?
Could you take them to court or some consumer tribunal for this? (I assume not, as every operator has the same Terms and Conditions, so its legally binding - and your better off paying the £10 extra for the 30 day notice period, instead of the court fees for a case which you will most likely lose).

By choosing to leave after say 3 days of a 30 day rolling contract, you've broken the contract, so they expect full payment for the month, just as you would buy out from a 24 month contract if you wanted to leave after say 20 months by paying for the remainder of 4 months.

Also, if they charge you the 30 days, from the date you tell them, how do they work out the pricing?
Assuming you have a £10 per month contract, and you want to leave after 15 days. You are suggesting that they charge you £5 for the 15 days you've been on the 'contract', and then another 30 days from the day you notify them. So your contract is a total of 45 days? That is not a 30 day rolling contract anymore - its a free for all, and they need to start charging by the day.

I think you will find that a 30 day rolling contract, must end on either the 30th, 60th, 90th 120th... etc day of the contract. Logically for it to end on the 30th day, you must notify them on the day the contract starts. Sounds stupid, but makes them some money, by tying you in for at least 60 days. On the bright side, I would choose this option, over any 24 or 36 month contract.

What we really need from the government is more policing on mobile tarrifs, the 7 day energy tariff switching was a great idea and has improved things a lot. Some providers charge you £30 for leaving early, which is far better, as by switching tariffs you can save £100s on your energy bills. Mobile phone network providers, currently have a monopoly on this for some reason, they dictate the rules and we have to abide by them (probably because utilities are necessary for living so the government can force providers to play nicer, mobile tarrifs are not a necessity, but a convenience - or something like that).

But they could just charge 30 days from the date you tell them, not 30 days plus what you have left from the current month.

bk201
19 May 16 1 #107
I'm sorry you've been charged for 60 days with this company. But you'll find ALL rolling contracts work this way. Every network operator needs 30 days cancellation notice, even for 30 day rolling contracts.

You seem to be under the impression that other network providers are your friends and this network is out to get you. Well, wake up and smell the coffee. You're a consumer, and EVERY network operator wants to bleed you dry. And given half the chance they will.

With regards to the bad feedback on some sites, take into account that ID is a new network, and so the number of 'new customers' is high, thus the number of people switching to them and having issues is higher than the more established networks. Also I assure you, if you check the FB and twitter of ANY phone network operator, the number of bad reviews are equally bad among them all.

Rarely have I seen any company get the amount of abuse this one is getting. Seems to be a very inept outfit - and that's being diplomatic.
I signed up for the £4 a month rolling one month sim-only contract. The SIM turned up by courier in a large parcel. Must have cost them a fortune to send.

Tried finding a cheap phone for this network. Not that easy, by the looks of it.

Anyway, I'm been charged from the moment I filled in the form online.
If I cancel now, they'll take another £4 off me for next month as well.

The whole thing seems to be driven by utter incompetence.

HUKD HAS ID - CARPHONE WAREHOUSE ON THE WEBSITE WITH A BLUE BUTTON. - A POOR DECISION AND I SUGGEST THEY REVOKE THIS PROMPTLY.
THIS OUTFIT IS AT MINUMINUM INCOMPETENT, AT WORST DOWNRIGHT CROOKED.

You cannot use this abroad for free as mentioned on their website (unless you get a 12 month TakeAway plan which includes roaming). Please stop feeding these people these lies as someone may listen to this and use the sim abroad to come back with hundreds of pounds worth of surcharges. Always check with the network directly first.

Or, alternatively, take advice from people who have already been customers of this horrific company. I've had two contracts with them (phone/mobile broadband) and was double-billed for both. The customer service advisors don't know their **** from their elbows, and forget about trying to end your contract painlessly - it just won't happen. Their website also rarely works which is great since your account is managed online.

You couldn't pay me to use this abomination of a company again. I have no doubt whatsoever that the only reason they're still in business is because money is being plunged into them by Carphone Warehouse.

But hey, don't just believe me - look at their Visitor Posts on Facebook and read for yourself.

If you do decide to become a customer, enjoy your raised blood pressure.

NiffNaff one of the worst network providers...you get a third class service because O2 come first and then Tesco comes second with data speeds
iv'e still got a sim from 3yrs ago i left with-in a month because they was just rubbish you be lucky if you can get 2g let alone 3g or 4g...No Custom service all done on line.

No Great advise when i left Three all i done was ring up and got my Pac code you have 30 days to use it i used it with-in 6 days as soon as you use the Pac code the contract ends i didn't pay no more for not giving them 30 days notice because you pay in-advance.
switch to ID faultless brilliant service all the way though even when i made a mistake when changing my number over custom service sorted it out been with them since jan like i said and had no surprises with my bill.
would have still been with Three but they wouldn't match ID prices so thats the only reason i left Three.

That's utter nonsense, and terrible advice. You're still going to get screwed. My mobile broadband contract was only for 30 days. Not only was I double-billed for those 30 days, they told me that I'd have to pay for two months (i.e. 60 days) because I didn't give 30 days' notice of cancellation.

Here's how it works: you place an order for a 30-day contract SIM, knowing that you might want to cancel after 30 days. You phone them up immediately, but you can't cancel because your account isn't actually activated yet - and isn't activated until you receive their SIM card in the post. Trouble is, it takes 2-3 days for the SIM to arrive in the post.

At this point, you've lost 2-3 days of usage from your contract's first month, because they start billing you as soon as you place the order. You then phone them to cancel, and they say you have to pay for two months' worth of usage because it's a rolling 30-day contract, and it's now only ~27 days until the end of your first month - thus your cancellation notice applies to your *second* month.

They're crooks, and will shaft you however they can.

Besides, does any other mobile company provoke such a strong reaction from their customers on sites like this? That says it all.

I'm with GiffGaff on PAYG [edit:] but won't recommend any particular provider because they're all as bad as each other. Except ID Mobile who are specialists in crappy service.

I was with Three network for 6yrs left January for ID and never had any problems with billing, signal, custom service with any of them 4g signal is no different from Three when it comes to id and also remember 3 use's EE mast as well as there own.
you only here the bad side and not the good as someone else said on here.

So to all you people reading this thread don't take no notice of all the bad said about ID give them a go on there 30 day contract then if anything doe's go wrong just get you Pac code and leave because you won't be in any long time contract.

By the way which brilliant network are you on now?

I think you'll find your "lol" doesn't count, as your in the small minority. Their coverage is excellent in most areas, just because your area is poor doesn't mean that they are crap overall across the whole country. Most polls find them to be one of the best networks in the country.

Look at their FB? I suggest you look at any network operators FB - the public social network pages are where customers vent their anger, you won't find anyone on any network operators FB singing praises. People only leave reviews/feedback when they are upset. When they are happy they won't even check their network operators FB. (Just like you haven't sent a box of chocolate to your current network operators customer support team, but heaven forbid you have a slow network connection you will call and moan at whatever poor soul answers the phone)

I've been on 3 since 2011, and they've finally booted me off their unlimited plan to some 1gb data plan. Other than that, I've found them to be excellent with regards to their speed and network availability.

(Overseas call centre operators as hard to understand but ok if you ask them to speak slowly)

I think your experience of their network is a small sample and your probably in an area with bad reception. The same cannot apply to every person within the UK?

That sounds like an issue with your wifi at home. When you turn on wifi, your phone will use one data connection depending on which is available, it gives priority to wifi. If you walk too far from the house or out of range of the wifi router you'll find that the phone switches to use data. If you turn off the router you'll see that the phone switches to data connection too.

So your £78 bill came across as you your wifi router must have turned off or something, forcing the phone to switch to the data connection. This is not the mobile phone network operators fault, nor the phone sucking up data in the background.

As they've said, force the data off in your settings or find an app on your phone that toggles data off automatically when you switch wifi on. Also, download an app to monitor your data usage, and if you go past a certain threshold the app will warn you and turn off your data for you. That way you will not be overcharged in future.

Surely that's a retentions deal though right?! A new customer wouldn't be able to wangle that price surely?! EE are often regarded as the most expensive Sim Only providers IMO.

I've gone for the BT Mobile deal:

Okay, it's only 2gb of 4G data but they use EE who have better coverage than iD (who use 3), will be able to use the BT wi-fi hotspots of which there are LOADS, BT Sport Lite app (so quite a few footy and rugby games) all for...£1.50pm  That's with the BT household discount, Top Cashback of £42 &Amazon £40 gift card taken into account :smirk:

I bit (thanks OP). Had it for 9 days now. Great value, good coverage in the three main areas I need (I checked local coverage on-line before buying) and transferring number via PAC was quick and easy. Never had 4G before (I was Tesco mobile :smirk: ) so nothing to compare it to but it seems loads faster than the 3G I'm used to - feels like being on WiFi.

I've also hit the unable to turn off voice-mail issue which is irritating but not a show-stopper for me. I've read that they charge you MMS charges for sending emoji but there is conflicting information about this - the suggestion seems to be that this is phone dependant. Apparently some phones convert them to graphics and some don't. This is normally invisible to users as MMS messages (with graphics in) are often included in your contract when you're with the other operators and are treat exactly the same within most phones. I have no idea what my phone (LG G4) does... so I'm avoiding emoji until I do or there is a better explanation.

I have had this for 3 months. Brilliant coverage and no problems. As its on the three network you can use it abroad at no extra cost. Saved me £800 in Spain last month. Great service don't be put off by the negative comments.

isn't that on the "takeaway" Sims rather than the "shockproof" ones?

I don't think you can use this abroad. You need one of their Takeaway contracts

it uses three network so you'll be extremely lucky to get a signal and make calls let alone 4g

Hotukdeals not HotukNEWdeals - this is a solid offer and it's not a repost so I for one am happy to see it listed.

Is this 4g?

Went onto iD last year with the Huawei P8 deal, not had any problems at all. 4g coverage has been fine, voice calls clear as any other network so I'd recommend them. I haven't had to deal with customer services though...
