There is a 'Keep Existing SIM' option at the bottom of the 'Bundles' page, which allows you to purchase a PAYG phone without a top-up. Unfortunately Vodafone now hides this button a few seconds after the page has loaded. You have to be quick to click the button, if you miss it simply hit F5 or the 'Refresh' button on your browser to reload the 'Bundles' page and try again.
Also available to buy instore, but you will have to buy topup there, Quidco provides 3% cashback for purchase instore though (if you registered your card with them and activated their promotion).
For those struggling to get it at 79 & keep existing sim option:
1: Follow hukd link above, add the handset to your basket
2: Open a NEW tab and copy and paste this link into the tab
and visit it ONCE http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/pricePlans/plansHome.jsp?planContractType=monthly&_DARGS=/shop/pricePlans/freeBee/listing/freeBeeListContent.jsp_AF&_dynSessConf=2963736419748066161&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.successParams=keepcurrentSim%3Dtrue&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.successParams=+&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.errorParams=&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.errorCode=+&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.currentCommerceID=+&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.errorParams=+&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.errorCode=shppfl&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.successCode=shpppex&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.successCode=+&_D%3A/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.KeepCurrentSIM=+&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.KeepCurrentSIM=&/atg/commerce/order/purchase/CartModifierFormHandler.currentCommerceID=ci5989002203

Was waiting for the unlock code for now 3 days and still no sign of it.
So went ahead with DC unlocker and it worked (well took some effort)
Here is my how to to help fellow HUKD gang (you will need a PC with MS Windows running on it and a USB port)
4) Connect your phone to the computer using USB cable.
(you might have to enable the the Developer mode on your phone by going to Settings >>>> About phone and tapping 7 times on Build Number) once done go to Settings >>>>> Developer option >>>>> enable USB debugging. authorise the computer connected)
5) HiSuite should now she you phone.
6) Disconnect your phone and on dialer type *#*#2846579#*#*
then press on project menu
background settings/
usb port mode and
choose manufacture mode.
7) connect your phone and let HuaWei find the phone (took a lot of time in my case). once done
:sunglasses: start downloaded and unzipped DC-Unlocker exe file
9)In Manufacturer >>>> Huawei Phone
10) Select model>>>> Auto Detect
11) Click on the magnifying glass and let it detect the phone
12) the last line will tell you if the phone is locked or not
13) click on buy credit which will take you to DC-unlocker website and create an account and pay with Paypal or CC. you will need 4 credits to unlock this phone.
14) back to application and click on server. enter your login details
15) click on unblocking >>> unlock and phone will be unlocked immediately
16) Enjoy your unlocked phone.

Another way to "catch" the keep existing sim button is to use Firefox, click "View - Page Style - No Style" and the text page appears. The button doesn't disappear. Ctrl-F to search for "Keep" and job done. I'm sure other browsers may have this feature, but I have checked this in Firefox on a Mac and it works.

To view the Free Sim option you can right click and inspect element underneath the last bundle.
Simple remove style="display: none;" from div class="row similar-products" style="display: none;"
It'll then show.

Fantastic phone for under £100, seriously I can't see what else can beat it. No problems with mine whatsoever. I'm just struggling with the size after coming from a 4s and am missing the whole iOS generally but £600+ for a new iPhone or this for less than a sixth of the price!!
Battery lasts me all day with medium use and I have zero lag or freezing issues with mine at all, very smooth with multiple apps, web pages etc running. I guess I'm what you call an average phone user?! So some calls, texts, what's app, Facebook, web browsing, HUKD obviously :stuck_out_tongue:, few photos etc. It takes quite a while to fully charge compared to my iPhone but start the day with 100%, by bed time it's approx 15% and it's then back on charge again! I read reviews saying the screen wasn't good under sunlight, I actually find it pretty good! Bought this case for it:
Nice and snug and good protection. All in all pretty chuffed

I have this phone using it now to type this. Having previously had 3 huawei and being a fan of the brand I went for. This but honestly not hugely I'm pressed.. It's 9k and does it's job but I wouldn't say it feels smooth or slick to operate, definitely some lag.

"keep sim" is there at the bottom. you have about 1 second to click on it. Its between the £30 big bundle and the footer menu. Scroll down to the bottom then hit F5. Position the mouse just right & click ASAP when it appears after refreshing. When it works the screen will refresh itself and go to the top of the page and the "go to basket" will be coloured in. Bit tricky, but worth it

Thinking of getting this for my mum. In terms of comparing this with a Samsung which Samsung would you compare this with? as i was thinking of getting the Samsung j5, but this looks like a good handset. Which handset would you go for?
iNSPO to Deal_hunter1234
24 Apr 162#17
The J5 is a brilliant phone with a better screen (Super Amoled vs IPS), also offers a removable battery and... well, it's Samsung. I mean, as a brand that's got to count for something.
The Huawei, however, offers something that "unfortunately" trumps the screen/battery which is 16GB storage.
The J5 is only available in 8GB and even with a memory card, chances are she'll complain down the line when she realises the phone doesn't stop bothering her about being almost out of storage.
I made the same mistake with my mom when I got her a Moto G (1st gen) and she's not savvy or has a lot of apps or anything, but 8GB storage these days just isn't enough.
I'm getting this one for that reason and whether you pick the P8 Lite or a different one, I just urge you not to make the same mistake I did (and that was almost two years ago).
Hope that helped.

Great phone for the money. Had to get a new handset mid contract and paid £109 for a P8 Lite from CPW not entirely sure it was going to that great - not disappointed. For a budget phone I was surprised by the build quality and performance, all in all a result
Mine came unlocked but it might be worth trying this:
I paid £99 for this phone about a month ago. Its really not bad for the money but no app drawer till I installed Nova Launcher. £79 is a proper bargain

Samsung are far and away the most complained about phone on tech forums
the acronym thrown around all over the place is 'POS'
use your imagination if you don't already know that one
love the look of the P8, but I have read horrible things about the battery, which rules it out for me.
lugsy3
24 Apr 161#34
Lol I think I worked out the "POS" quite quick. This phone is the P8 lite from what I have read when researching completely different to the original P8 when it comes to the battery apparently it lasts well on this phone.

It's on normal.
I use smart app unlock to lock certain apps, have don't on all my phones. But with the p8 lite it opens the app and there's a. Delay of like 10 secs before the appointment lock screen comes up. all my other phones been about 2 second or less delay. And that's including the p6 and the rest kestrel both older versions of huawei phones hence I can't understand why this newer one is lagging with thee same app

Yes, I know Samsung is most-hated in the tech community. I was referring to Samsung's warranty, customer service, etc.
Ask hunter1234's mom if she's heard of Huawei before and if she'd trust it more as a brand than Samsung.
The phone - I'm assuming - isn't exactly for a tech savvy user (or else they'd probably be willing to spend more money on one and get something better, and even know what to get for themselves in the first place), so based on who it's for, the tech community's gripes about how Samsung is this and that means absolutely nothing to the matter at hand.

Dc-unlocker's trustworthy, used to use one of their small dedicated dongle&phone unlocker-clips with the credits bought online to unlock the very first gen USB broadband dongles. This was about10 years ago. The clip would unlock anything...ZTE's , Huawei you name it and latterly the MIFI dongles.. yeah I still have the clip lying around somewhere. The site might look dodgy but they're trustworthy. Used to speak regularly to one of their associates (lady named Ewelina) on skype ( this was in the days before viber/tango). She was always helpful!

Ha! neither wrote the app nor own the website. I've always been interested in fitness metrics and opt for phones that support ANT+ devices namely Sony & Samsung. In the past there was a chap offering "ANT+ enablement" for other brands but the process involved jumping through all sorts of hoops not to mention the £8.30 pricetag on google play and was pretty much the sole place to go to for ANT+ enablement which has never worked for me. I recently purchased the quadcore Wileyfox on the Amazon offer and discovered that ANT tester app (costs £0) enables the relevant settings on the phone thereby permitting me to use my non-bluetooth ( ANT+) wearables. The older ANT heart rate monitors tend to be cheaper than the newer BT4 monitors and can be given a new lease of life by using a suitably enabled phone negating the need to go out and buy a more expensive compatible BTLE strap.
Anyway fast forward to this P8 device on offer , which happens to be Octacore and is technically the better handset than my quadcore Wileyfox Swift. I'd like to buy this possibly faster P8lite but was just hoping someone would kindly check ANT sensor compatibility using the app I mentioned before I embark on a potentially unnecessary purchase. One doesn't actually require an ANT device at all to run the test
Sorry if the request offends you.
p.s. I've never owned an unlocking website or developed an app as neither is my line of occupation.
I'm just inherently curious about gadgetry from the very first windows pocket pc's & pioneering /sharp alcatel onetouch emailphones

Connect the phone and then on the dialer type *#*#2846579#*#* then press on project menu/background settings/usb port mode and chose manufacture mode.
Buy some credits from DC was 4 euros you will get a password to enter into the DC app, then chose Huewai phone and press search, once found it should its locked, so press the unlock button and job done.

£3.20 on DC unlocked ( 4 credits ) read previous posts for the YouTube video and web site .... I had to install the phone drivers on my laptop before the software saw my phone .. really simple to do as per the video
I did order a code off eBay but got fed up of waiting ..... item 291513611134 .... probably get a refund .
just need to get rid of the Vodafone start up screen now :-)
Not on the list I made give it a go and if they can't they should refund. Still waiting to hear from the ebay one I tried. Let us know how you get on and I can add it to the list.
If anyone else has tried one with no luck please add item number and I will add to list to save wasting peoples time.
Of course if you have had luck please share the link for other people.

you'll need root level access to be able to manipulate the bootup splash screen info .
Root your phone first and proceed from there.
Caution as you could end up with a brick ( soft or hard)
So annoying my ebay code said 3-7 business days and if it takes that long, (been 2 days now)and then they say "can't do it" I will probably do the unlocker way as getting frustrated now.

You have to have a vodafone sim that has been active for 6 months I think and then you can do that as the upgrade. If you have then it's a good deal as it will be unlocked anyway.

..always get success with clips or dcunlocker executable drivers as the drivers connect the phone to their servers which then search for the unlock code on the handset itself. failsafe method as it extract the unlock code from the device itself . there've actually been times in the past where I've read off the the unlock code for a huawei mifi or dongle for free using a hex editor to view a small file extracted from the device.
yeah every locked mobile/data device has the unlock code stored on it somewhere. when you obtain an unlock code and enter it, the device compares the entry with what it has already stored and if correct grants full network unlock access.
I don't know about "ipones" as I've never owned an apple phone.
yeah DCunlocker method is recommended as it searches for unlock code domiciled on the handset and you then put that back in and Voilà!!
eBay sellerson the other hand trawl through logs of compatible codes using your imei# which would explain the present high failure/refund rate as they may not have a record of your particular imei!

That is not how things work, no, the code is not stored on the handset.
Just an algorithm to calculate the code maybe... Think of Facebook servers, they do not know your password, just a hash of your password. They cannot just look into the DB and send you the pass, you have to reset it.

Anyway the last Huawei device I unlocked (I think it was an E585) had the code stored unencrypted on the modem . a suitable phone system analysis prog pulled a small file off the modem. I opened the file with a hex or basic editor and counted so many lines into an array of characters as was advised , and the unlock code was on the file . the code was stored on the phone ( mifi) unencryted. Things may be different now . But as I know ( or knew it then) the code was domiciled directly on the Huawei device.
Anyway , DCunlocker ware is statistically generating a lot of positive responses as it interacts directly with the handset. Not so Ebay where you pay someone to go look for a code for you simply based on your Imei.

yeah popped into CPW during a lull in my clinics yesterday and they had a "live" demo P8lite on display so I run the ANT tester app on it , turns out the P8lite doesn't support ANT+ devices and the feature cannot be enabled, disappointed as I really liked the P8L octacore spec. I guess I'll stick with the Wileyfox Crackling as its chipset does support ANT and simply requires "enablement" for those interested in activating and using feature

Another way to "catch" the keep existing sim button is to use Firefox, click "View - Page Style - No Style" and the text page appears. The button doesn't disappear. Nice find with the keep existing sim too
The Huawei, however, offers something that "unfortunately" trumps the screen/battery which is 16GB storage.
Mine came unlocked but it might be worth trying this:

use your imagination if you don't already know that one
love the look of the P8, but I have read horrible things about the battery, which rules it out for me.
I used Google Chrome btw
Ask hunter1234's mom if she's heard of Huawei before and if she'd trust it more as a brand than Samsung.
The phone - I'm assuming - isn't exactly for a tech savvy user (or else they'd probably be willing to spend more money on one and get something better, and even know what to get for themselves in the first place), so based on who it's for, the tech community's gripes about how Samsung is this and that means absolutely nothing to the matter at hand.
Simple remove style="display: none;" from div class="row similar-products" style="display: none;"
It'll then show.

thanks for the feedback though. if you hadn't asked you wouldn't know , perhaps I didn't provide enough background info to begin with. Anyway just out on a jaunt to pick up another Boardman messenger bag for kid sis , (back down to 10£ (rrp 50£) , I catch you later, ciao
I like mine but am a bit frustrated with these issues.
Connect the phone and then on the dialer type *#*#2846579#*#* then press on project menu/background settings/usb port mode and chose manufacture mode.
Buy some credits from DC was 4 euros you will get a password to enter into the DC app, then chose Huewai phone and press search, once found it should its locked, so press the unlock button and job done.

yeah every locked mobile/data device has the unlock code stored on it somewhere. when you obtain an unlock code and enter it, the device compares the entry with what it has already stored and if correct grants full network unlock access.
Battery lasts about 4 hours with minimum usage the Huawei keyboard keeps closing with using to much cpu warning slow laggy restarts when it feels like it freezes 9 times out of 10 when i switch it off other day it froze for 8 hours and as couldn't pull battery it was unusable untill it decided work again i needed a cheap phone till end contract as kids broke old one never will i buy cheap again you get what you pay for crap

So went ahead with DC unlocker and it worked (well took some effort)
Here is my how to to help fellow HUKD gang (you will need a PC with MS Windows running on it and a USB port)
1)Go To huawei and download and install Huawei HiSuite
http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/
2)Download and unzip DC-Unlocker client software (the latest one didnt work for me so I used the previous one)
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/get/w8rlxJen
3)start Huawie HiSuite Program
Just an algorithm to calculate the code maybe... Think of Facebook servers, they do not know your password, just a hash of your password. They cannot just look into the DB and send you the pass, you have to reset it.
Unlocked in few minutes - in my case lates DC Unlocker worked without any problems (Windows 7 x64 pro)
If you need video assistance please check here
Anyway the last Huawei device I unlocked (I think it was an E585) had the code stored unencrypted on the modem . a suitable phone system analysis prog pulled a small file off the modem.
P8lite handset running ANTtester (pictured below)
my Wileyfox (screenshot pictured below) running the ANT tester app (positive result)
You cannot change your mind once you have purchased the code as we process the
code on the server and server charge us immediately and do not allow to cancel
Edit: I have just asked if there is any news on my code. Some of the feedback says they received their code in 30 mins, I ordered Tuesday. If they can't I want to know and then do it via "davep" way.
thanks.
thanks
Ok noted, fingers crossed!
thank you
This service is 2-7 days service
Please wait
Grrrrrrrr
Edit: Nice to see a thread on here where members all pitched in to help and no squabbling for once
Only thing I can think the lag is to do with its smart app lock or TouchPal
But I had both of those on my last huawei and they didn't cause as issue
