Been hunting around for a sub £300, anti-glare, i5 or A10 laptop for work and came across this. Received it today from Ebuyer and I have to say for less than £300 I'm pretty impressed with it. We have various Lenovo and HP laptops in work and for this price the Lenovos just can't compare. Spec as follows:
Intel Core i5-5200U 2.2 GHz
4GB RAM + 500GB HDD
15.6" LED + DVD Writer
WIFI + Webcam + Bluetooth
Windows 8.1 + Free upgrade to Windows 10

There's very little info about this model, plenty about the 250. So what's the better spec/buy?

Work just gave me an HP Elitebook with an i5 - how does this compare as looking for something for personal use - did wonder about an HP Envy 13 but they're pricey!

The EliteBooks are business computers, whereas this is very much a consumer model. The build quality of the EliteBooks, ProBooks etc. is a lot higher and it's something I'm sure you'd notice if you used both.
I use this laptop every day for work. First thing I had to do was plug in another 4GB of RAM, well after removing the bloatware of course. It's nothing mindblowing, but it's good enough to get my job done. Decent keyboard/trackpad too compared to some of those Dells and Lenovos. I like the feel of the case too.
I usually have Firefox, IE, Edge, our support program, Word, Excel, a Citrix desktop, and multiple remote connections with RDP and Teamviewer open for days on end without issues.

Hi, sorry to ask a silly question.....I notice ebuyer mentioned alot on these threads but have never used them...are they a good company to purchase from? Or it is worth paying a little extra to purchase from a high st company...(i.e argos etc?) so item can be taken back if any issues....thanks for any replies...

Not bad. If I needed a laptop I may have bought this. Then...
1. buy cheap SSD
2. image C: to SSD; replace hard disk with SSD
3. Buy external case for hard drive and use as backup/music/pictures etc
OR IF DON'T USE CD/DVD DRIVE
4. buy hard drive caddy to replace CD/DVD drive
5. insert hard disk into caddy and replace CD/DVD drive with it

Yes, it will handle Win7,8 and 10. It's a decent CPU.

still not getting why the OEM's provide CD/DVD drives !! they could have saved that money and made HDD into SSD

Is this not worth the £10 more, of have I missed something? Faster CPU, 2x RAM, 4x HDD space
that's an ex-display unit and only comes with 3 month warranty?

then the money is worth :sunglasses:

This would be a good laptop for you. You could probably find a sub £250 laptop that'll also suit your needs

Buy this while it's cheap Jen!
Great laptop, screen, hardware & all you *might* need to do at a later date.. is pop another
4/8gb ram into it, but that is really optional, get windows 10 on it, un-install all the bloatware
rubbish you will not use / do not need / slows it down, make a few tweaks here and there in
windows and that will do you for work / pleasure and farcebook for many years to come ;-)

If you have to write WiFi, Bluetooth and Webcam as plus points then it's probably not as good as you think.

Just looked and it is in stock. Can anyone tell me if the keypad is gloss or mat and if the letters are large and clear (preferrably white and not grey) please before I buy it. Thanks.

Ive got a HP Pavilion dv6-6b50sa which has been more than what i use it for,is this model the next gen from mine ? albeit an i5 where as mines an i3.The reason i ask is i would like the newer version of what i have as its been very good, whilst im in no rush to change its still worth looking and watching the price.

Thanks - I did wonder if that may be the case, so to speak. Is the EliteBook or Envy 13 better? The EliteBook looks to be more expensive, yet doesn't have a 1080p sceen and has less RAM?

For the HP trade in, has anyone tried purchasing a new 9 inch tablet on Amazon (or other site) and use that as the trade in device? In other words does it technically have to be an old, used device or can it be a 'new' one too?

Different HP 350 model but same processor
Would seem like a posh HP 250
