Why some people are so arssy? Simply answer yes or no and if you can't then just shut up. By the way deal is good for the price.

For the HP trade in, has anyone tried purchasing a new 9 inch tablet on Amazon (or other site) and use that as the trade in device? In other words does it technically have to be an old, used device or can it be a 'new' one too?

Doesn't seem too difficult in the G4. The G3 was a lot worse.
It states that it's not "customer" upgradable here: http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04570053.pdf
I wouldn't have any problem changing the memory or solid state but it's just an issue of whether or not HP will honour the warranty if you did the upgrade yourself.
The memory is not user upgradeable according to HP's Quickspec in-case someone was hoping to upgrade it. You have to remove the motherboard because it is underneath it. Warranty would be questionable after doing that!

I think you will struggle for £300 for gaming.

I'm struggling to find the right laptop with best specs for online gaming, max budget 300 quid. Is this any good? Any recommendations?

Lets face it, the Tosh looks fancier and its lighter, really up to you, a typical student problem, go for the looker or stick with the sure bet, decisions, decisions..

Is this better than the Toshiba Chromebook 2 for a student? I just need to write essays but my research is heavy with lots of tabs open, etc.
The chromebook has better battery life, better screen and is lighter/thinner but this has better processor, more SSD storage and I can work offline on Word as normal.
1080p would be nice for reading long articles but Word is probably better than Google Docs for academic writing (?)

Nice solid laptop. Nothing fancy but solidly built with a great trackpad. To get one with a current i5 and an SSD for £300 is insanely good.

It was a couple of pounds cheaper at kingsfieldcomputers(link above).
Have ordered from both Ebuyer and saveonlaptops, no problems, from what i remember the free delivery on saveonlaptops although listed as 7 days took only a couple of days.

To be honest you can get away with 128. My housemate has a laptop with 32GB storage for uni work and it's enough. Media storage needs to be on an external and it's no good for games but it all depends on what you need.

Would this connect to 5G wireless network? Or would i need one with 802.11 ac for that?

How do people manage with 128gb? I know SSD's are far superior but i feel 258gb would be the minimum.

1080 on a 15 inch screen is overkill to be honest.
I have one and its hard to get used to ,stuff is too small on it .
Don't be fooled by what seems like a good deal. I have had this laptop and had to return it twice due to poor build quality. better save your money and pick up a HP Probook, some of which can be had for the same price or not much more expensive. They have better build quality.

£300 is good value considering the spec and I'd buy an HP over a Dell any day. In my personal experience HPs are better built and last longer.
Looks good to me.
