This was last posted around £469 I think and I was looking at this yesterday. Today it has dropped to £399.
There's been a lot of discussion around Hisense recently and seems to be getting some decent reviews

It's all about that 6 year warranty imo. Especially given the make (although a huge company) is a bit of an unknown quantity. Heat added. Great deal. No idea why I even look at these TV threads as my fantastic (6 year old) FHD plasma steadfastly refuses to meet its maker.

I'm going to have a look at one in the flesh. I'm really tempted, my current tv is a 40" Samsung and no more than about 25mm thick so really tidy on the wall and this one is 80mm which is a big difference. It's such a bargain though! I'm in the market for a 50" 4k tv and pretty flexible budget wise (prob do't want to spend more than £1000 though). I can live without 3D as haven't watched a 3D film in over a year.
Anyone know if I also have to change the AV receiver to one with 4K passthrough as well? My current one doesn't have this.

Most non-4k av receivers won't passthrough a 4k signal.

Which samsung TV do you have? You may find that this is a significant drop in quality if you have a high end samsung 40".

my av does 4k passthrough, but it isnt hdcp2.2 compliant, which means anything 4k from netflix or amazon wont play. so be careful what you upgrade to.

Thanks. I bought the Samsung from Richer Sounds about 5 years ago. I Googled the model number at the time and there was no reviews or anything on it. The only thing I could find was something on the Polish Samsung site (I think).

That's why all the 4K Bluray players will have twin output HDMI's, one directly to the TV and one to the amp for sound only. Yes it takes an extra HDMI lead but at least you don't need to upgrade the amp.

Gonna have to jump in here......

I have always had Samsungs, Sonys etc in the past and been extremely pleased with them - I still have a 60 inch Samsung in the lounge. However I did my bedroom last year and bought a 50inch 4k Hisense as it was on offer from Amazon.

It is AWESOME ! The 4K from built in Netflix is sublime - 1080 picture from PC is SUBLIME - Pic from Wii u and 4k from Nvidia shield tv is FANTASTIC.

If a 60 inch comes on offer then the Samsung is history.............

I got one of these at the weekend to replace the old bedroom plasma.im really impressed with the picture quality don't think my 4k Samsung 8000 series is that much better.the smart menu on the hisense was a little slow until a system update was installed and worked like a charm From then on.As for gaming on the Xbox one I didn't notice Any lag and that's without turning any game mode on.im really pleased with it for the money so hot from me.

This was the entry level 2015 Hisense model so you gets what you pays for - reviews of this TV suggests some issues with the picture, esp when viewing from an angle

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/televisions/hisense-ltdn50k321uwt-1313446/review

http://www.trustedreviews.com/hisense-ltdn50k321uwt-review

above reviews both by John Archer of Home Cinema Choice, hence the similarities

https://www.avforums.com/review/hisense-55k321-LTDN55K321UWTSEU-4k-uhd-tv-review.12122 (55 inch version)

Note, the TV also goes under the catchy moniker of the UB50EC591UWTSEU - essentially referred to as the K321 :

http://hisense.co.uk/electronics/tvs/ltdn50k321uwtseu-ub50ec591uwtseu

This won't get an HDR update by all accounts.

For the price, though, none too shabby and a great (if not large) bedroom/kitchen TV, but worth spending a few bob more for a living room model

Very tempted to get a 4K TV too (like everyone else here it seems!), however I was watching BBC Click and they mentioned about the HDR format - which is effectively premium 4K - making the contrasts, colours etc much much better (even the comparisons on the news item between SDR 4K and HDR 4K looked drastically different). The link to the news item is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-36053964. Services like Netflix have already begun creating their content in this new format.
I searched on Richer Sounds for 4K TV's that have HDR and there's only a handful right now. But it seems if i'm going to purchase a TV that will last, HDR is the only way to go? What does everyone else think?

I've been looking at this and in a similar situation, compared on the RS website they both look the same technically wise (although no DNLA on the newer model??). Doing some googling I've found the new model on a french website and I'm sure it mentioned HDR on this website: http://www.avcesar.com/actu/id-19205/tv-hisense-m3300-trois-modeles-annonces.html
"You can also add an HDR compatibility. Although these screens do not take advantage of a very high luminous peak, they are able to decode the HDR metadata to apply perfectly to their abilities. Namely, Smart TV is of course appropriate. More details soon ." That was translated through google.

How accurate is I'm not sure though. Cosmetically slightly different too.

How good is the speaker quality? A lot of lower-end brands have decent screens but ridiculously crap speakers for audio
clayts
19 Apr 16 1 #52
HDR is a must-have if you want to make the best of Netflix 4K/Amazon 4K. This model I'm almost certain is non-upgradeable.

The new models the poster above refers to I believe must be the replacement entry level model for 2016, the M3300 (much easier to remember model number) but these seem to only offer some sort of quasi-HDR, pretty similar I think to what the mid-range K700/K710/K720/K730 2015 models look to be getting.

Chris from Hisense was around recently on here, so maybe he can confirm ?

its too much for my liking. they should let each format slightly mature before they hoist more tech. HD was allowed to mature some what before the 4k started to be advertised. now, 4k has just come out and now this 4K HDR is being bandied about.

maybe im just being old fashioned but I like to get some kind of value for my stuff before I upgrade
paulj48
19 Apr 16 2 #55
All 4K TV's have to upscale all content otherwise you would have a small picture in the middle of the screen with a big black box around. :smirk:
whiteswan
19 Apr 16 #56
Don't be fooled by the reviews posted earlier in this thread that showed Amazon 4k app on the tv screenshot - it doesn't have Amazon App yet.......should be coming soon - but only Netflix and Youtube apps built in to the tv give you 4k.

This is silly money for an outstanding tv.

At this pricepoint you have no right to expect HDR to be honest.

Hi, I've spoken to the tech support at Hisense in Leeds, the new model (50M3300) will have Freeplay, and slight cosmetic change. However ALL the 4K 2016 models will have HDR I was informed. Hope this helps someone.

The Richer Sounds I went to didn't speak that highly of the Hisense, they didn't knock them either though. I ended up buying a totally different brand and model and spending a grand. After two days of use though I think I've changed my mind and would like to exchange for a different model. Anyone know what Richer Sounds are like for this? Obviously the tv isn't damaged or anything but it has been taken out the packaging (I still have all the packaging though).

Finally pulled the trigger on a TV thread, can't fault Richer Sounds service - ordered at 1355 yesteray and it arrived this morning (-: Ignore the web site just call any branch or telesales and they order it from the warehouse for you. £15 for next day delivery was reasonable as well I'd say.

Have yet to properly get my teeth into it but for now I'm happy, setup was quick and minimal, its very light compared to my old (10 year old 720p Toshiba 37") so it was no problem manoevering it - would still need 2 for wall mounting. The screen is a world apart from my old one, I've gone from 720p to 1080p (upscaled) on a vastly superior screen and the difference is staggering. Obviously I'm not comparing it like for like but to my eyes its amazing.

I did a quick play of some movie trailers - awesome, and of some Xbox Fallout 4 - awesome. I needed to tweak the audio setting on the Xbox as I think a channel was not being sent, but its all good now.

A plus point I didnt consider is as it has a Optical Out, and 4 HDMI, its meant I can go back to a single channel on my Amplifier - makes things a little easier using the pass through audio function (HDMI in to TV, Optical out to Amplifier) the signal has changed from DTS to Dolby IIx though opinions are like ****holes as to which is better - to my ears I cant tell.

So for the money (less than half what I paid for the 37" Toshiba) I can't fault this. For sure there are better screens out there but this is not a bad screen by any means. If anything paying £400 for this TV now means I am open to splurging a lot on a amazing uber TV in the future once I get to grips with having a smart 4k tv - the old TV was basically just a monitor for the last 5 years as I never used the sound and it was SD only on on the tuner.

One last point almost to the inch it slips in perfectly in between my existing floorstanders, not needing to move or change them is also good.

Interesting article showing the expected specs and naming conventions of the Hisense 2016 US range. Note that there the 4k range start from the H7 series, which also lists HDR Processing. However the H7 range doesn't list Local Dimming, while the H8 series has Multi-Zone, and H9 & H10 have Full Array. What this will all mean in the UK we'll have to wait and see... ;-)
