his is a rolls royce of car seats, it is so well made with additional features to make for a
excellent car seat, I had not heard of this particular make but am very impressed.
It is covered with a superb fabric that is snuggly aand warm when it is cold but is breathable
so in the hot weather is cool. Easy to keep clean with a soft damp cloth, and with three
different settings is a doddle to adjust. When the grandchildren fall asleep you can just
click a button under the set and pull forward and the seat locks into a reclining position
ensuring maximum comfort. It gives maximum protection at every adjustment - there are three
settings in total.
This is suitable for ages three through to twelve, so it is a sound investment because as the
children grow the car seat will grow with them.

It's not recommended that children under 4 use a hbb due to the lack of maturity of sitting sensibly and safely whilst using just a 3 point belt. their skeleton (in particular the iliac crest crest and pelvis) also hasn't sufficiently ossified at such a young age in order to withstand the forces in the event of an accident.
If your daughter is under 18kg keep her in her current seat. If she's already hit 18kg then consider getting a 25kg harnessed seat.

non isofix... I find attaching these things to seat belts to be a real pain

My son is 2.5 but he's over 18kg and tall for his age, he struggles to get into the current seat, what's the best harnessed seat to get?

Wouldn't put any child under the age of 4 in this or any other forward facing seat.

Rear facing is a lot better. This might look pleasing to the eye but I wouldn't put my kid in it.

Britax two way elite (also has benefit of rf to 25kg so MUCH safer for a 2 year old) or Britax Advansafix. Other than those two that forward face, there are quite a few erf seats that go to 25kg too.
what seat do you currently have him in?

Would this seat fit an 8 year old? i know it says upto 12, but realistically anyone who has one, will it fit an older child comfortably and be OK for a 8 hour drive to france?

My 7 year old is tall for her age. She's very comfortable in it. THere is a button on the carrying handle that you click and the chair expands "transformer" style.
Size wise my 3year old can seat in it with onse simple click of the button, however the base needs to be tilted (semi reclined position) so she doesn't slide down in case of heavy breaking. I would not use this chair on a child younger than 4 on longer journeys. I only had my 3 year old in it a handful of times, when we were left with not much choice (dad had to collect from nursery) and she needed to be reminded to not to take her hands over the belt.
The installation of the chair is second to none. You just put the belt as an adult would and it just goes in right places.
Also, it stays attached to the belt if the child is not using it as there is a catch preventing the belt to slip out.
Over all very good seat for older children. I know there are some people comfortable with their children at age 7 in booster seats. That might work well in a solid build cars. But we have a fiat punto, which is great for going around town, but feels like it is made from tin, hence we have bodyguard

These are seriously worth importing for around £250-260, allowing your child to stay harnessed upto 80lbs with the 5 point system, nothing is more important than our children imo.
No need to import - Diono sell the Radian 5 in the uk that allows a child to stay in a 5-point harness to 25kgs http://uk.diono.com/product/radian-5/

When we bought ours you couldn't get them in the UK, still cheaper importing but if your not sure about importing items from the states that UK offer is a good shout, nice1.
