Our TVs at this house are a Toshiba (42") in the sitting room, a Samsung (32") in the study (mostly used for my son's PS4) and a couple of smaller (about 26" I should think) Technicas (some store's own brand - I forget which) scattered around, mostly for use as PC (including my son's gaming PC) and Kodi monitors. I paid good money for the Toshiba and the Samsung because of their brand names, and the Toshiba has gone wrong twice in 2 years (one software fix, one hardware), the Samsung needed to have the software reloaded about a year ago. The cheaper TVs have not had any problems, and seem to work perfectly well (even at the higher resolutions used by Dan's gaming PC).
I am coming to believe that buying brand names (and paying 3 times as much for the privilege) is bunkum. Every time I say so on this web-site the naysayers (like you) tell me I'm wrong but offer no evidence whatsoever. This is not limited to TVs, but computers (Apple in particular, I have paid far too much for iPads and iPhones in the past, and recently found Windows 10 products that are just as good for a third of the cost), cables, tools and other items.
I am in the market for a couple of new TVs for our holiday house, one of about 42" for Dan's room and a normal sized one (32" is perfectly good) that I can watch occasionally in the sitting room. I could buy well known brands, and if I did the bill would be around £1000 for the two. Unless someone who knows what they are talking about offers me better evidence than brand snobbery I'll buy two Goodmans (or similar) TVs and save £700.
I enjoy using HUKD, it helps me find good value products and sometimes helps me avoid poor products, but I get really irritated when commentators post unsubstantiated and misleading opinions.
Best wishes,
Alan

Better than the typical Vestel set IMO. Decent power supplies for a start (Megmeet).

The website says 1080p but the manual says the max PC res is 1360 x 768 - which is not 1080p in my book!
I have this TV. other than the poor sound found on practically all low price sets it's great value for money. wrt the pc resolution I'm using it at full HD without any problems

I have voted with some heat. I suspect there will be some brand snobs bad mouthing Goodmans and saying it is much better value to pay three times for a similar TV, but to me it looks like very good value indeed, which is what this web-site is all about.
Well done OP.

Do you own one of these TVs and have seen it first hand? Doe you have a friend that owns one? Have you read about it in a reputable review? None of these of course, you just make silly comments based upon nothing whatsoever.

Probably, yes.
You have sent me a message claiming that this TV received a poor review in Which? magazine (I don't subscribe to it). If it did then it would be better to share that knowledge here. I doubt very much that you will be able to back up your claim with an article from Which?; I think you have just made a silly comment based upon nothing whatsoever and you are clutching at straws because you have been exposed.
Best wishes,

Well, having seen a second hand magazine that your neighbour was throwing out is better than nothing, it would have been better if you had quoted that as your source at the outset. I doubt that you can recall which Goodmans model was tested or when the report was published, and I wonder whether you are a credible commentator at all. Does anyone more credible that LOUGHBORO GUY have any knowledge of these TV sets (someone who might have actually seen one perhaps)?
I'm not sure I see any connection between owning iPads and paying for a Sky subscription and this TV. I got rid of Sky because it was such poor value, and I've said a few times on these pages that I would probably not buy another Apple product because although they work fairly well they are very poor value indeed. This web-site is for us tightwads who enjoy getting a good deal, not a fashion page devoted to trendy brand names and badges.
