Don't see how this is any improvement on printing your name/number on the dog tag.
Even if your dog/keys/toolbag/elephant is found, the finder will have to go out of their way to obtain your details. What if they don't have a smartphone or a phone with charge on them? What if Dorris (who found your dog) doesn't know what a QR code/NFC tag are? You'd be stuck!

I suppose this would work as a key finder or anything you can clip it too. not just pets.
Might get one for my tool bag.

Dig out one of your old smart phones and install "find friends" or whatever it is, then tie that to the dog, might even be able to tell him/her to come home if accidentally got picked up. :smirk:

Still, most useless gizmo ever, it's an overly complex name tag that 75% of people who might find your dog won't know how to use.

Hate to be a pedant...but this isn't a tracker...it doesn't let you..."track" your pet at all.
It's not a horrible idea, but not a tracker.
I use a podtracker and loc8tor to actually track my cat...but both cost rather more than £4

In principle this is no different to the tag that Dogs Trust gave us "free" when we got our dog from them. That was a tag with a phone number and a serial number on it. First year was free but after that if you wanted to update your details you had to buy a subscription or pay for each update. Needless to say it went in the bin after the year was up, replaced by a tag that just has our phone number on it which cost < £5.

I ordered one of these, came with a free keyring tag which is on my keys. Other smaller tag is on my dogs harness when we go out. One good advantage of this is there is not just a contact name & number to call, you can also give key points about your dog like vital information someone would need to know whilst getting the dog back to the owner. Mine also states "REWARD IF FOUND" to hope/ensure they bring my little one back to me.
No this doesn't "track" but when the person who finds the dog scans the barcode you get an immediate text/email with the information and location - So you can kind of track where your dog was found etc.
I might even get another to attach to my son's comforter!

Wow that's amazing... its like a dog tag just with a lot more hassel! Let's just hope the person who finds your dog is computer savvy. As other wise they will be tapping the tag waiting for a ginnie to pop out... I'll stick with my normal dog tag with a phone number on it.
