This is a cracking little device. This is by far the cheapest I have ever seen it. Plus you get Amazon returns policy to boot.
I have one. Had it for nearly a year and recommend it. Saves a LOT of time... But does take a while to get the setup / installation correct.

Lots of people here on high horses, probably posting from their £600 iPhones...
The benefits of this have been clearly laid out and it's a good price for it. Deal, and a good product for those who can afford it. I see no problem with that.

Do you have a washing machine? A dishwasher? Electric vacuum cleaner? A car? Where is your limit? Anyway, I don't think that walking maybe 1/4 mile extra once a week to cut the grass would save someone from obesity.

If ever there was an advert for obesity and laziness then this is it. Is it sponsored by Coca Cola and Greggs?

Agree entirely with this. People are happy to pay £600 for a phone that will be replaced in 2 years time for another £700 phone, yet whinge about this mower that will outlast multiple phones.
This is something i am seriously considering in future - will be starting with a robo vaccum first though!

Yep. That's right. But you would need the garden loop to be around the front lawn. It sounds odd, but if the mower doesn't have the loop around it, then it doesn't run. God knows why they designed it like that.

how would this work if i have a small front lawn, then a path that leads to the back lawn (also a door)? it looks awesome and would save a hell of a lot of time. I'm assuming i would have to plonk it at the front, let it do its thing and then after an hour put it at the back.

So if anyone wants a 6 year old and a 4 year old?
Oneday77
10 Apr 16#39
In general a good idea. However there is no chance in hell that I will get one.
Mowing the grass is my once a week excuse to go outside and keep the kids 'safely' indoors, with mummy. A pair of headphones and some tunes and I'm extatic.

If we wanted to use these we'd need two. One for the front lawn and one for the back - unless you can teach one to cross the back yard, open the gates and go up the driveway....
I'd do it though, if we didnt have someone doing it already for free

Couple of questions...
- how much wire is supplied? Can't find it on the Amazon page, but I'm probably just missing it
- how does this compare against the Indego? Bosch make a lot of song and dance about their algorithmic scanning, whereas this seems to mow random patches. Does it still cover the whole lawn?
jaizan
10 Apr 16#35
Setting up wires seems like a lot of hassle. Particularly as I have about 3 pieces of lawn to do.
With any luck, these things will have cameras and some intelligent navigation in the near future. Show it the boundary once & let the processor do the rest. Or a mow the green bits setting.

After buying a new petrol mower by Qualcast (piece of cheap unreliable crap) wish I'd spent the extra cash bought one. On the plus side, the lawn mower could sleep with my plug in hybrid car!

I am all for new technology improving one's lot in life, however there is no market for this device. I cannot wait for fully autonomous cars that require no input from useless drivers who are everywhere these days! How does it open the gate to get out to cut the front lawn though?
madhatchetman1
9 Apr 16#4
It's good for lawns up to 400 sq metres , which is about a tenth of an acre. If your lawn is that small it will take approximately 3 seconds to cut with a normal mower

Get family members under the age of 14 to cut the lawn with a cheap flymo. Reward them 2 quid for hours of work.

These are only good if you have a flat lawn, no lumps or bumps etc. Had a Robomow years ago and it could not cope with any irregularities.

I would agree that they do work better on a flat lawn. We live on a slope (7%) and it does fine. But if you want superb results then a flat lawn (with no badger, fox or squirrel holes) would do much better.

No. Instead it blitzes them small so they pass the nitrogen back into the grass to help it grow. There is no grass cuttings to be seen.
MrMatt
9 Apr 163#11
Ha ha - I guess that you haven't read about this mower! The mower is actually only cutting a very small amount (think of it as cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors) so the clippings are mulched and left on the lawn as feed which actually means you end up with a very nice green lawn. Mine is in a much better state than when I used a petrol mower.
Hope this helps you understand how this works

I wouldn't call a 10m wide x 40m long lawn small, that's one hell of a mower to do it in 3 seconds

Couldn't agree more. Our garden is 80 foot and about as wide as a semi detached with a garage. I'm guessing 40 foot by 80 foot. 3200sq foot. The mower wakes at 0500 and sleeps at 0930. It wakes up again at 1900 falls asleep again at 2200 twice a week and I have a cut lawn. Technology that saves time is always expensive and called "lazy" to begin with. A dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer... All automated devices to save time. All expensive.
MrMatt

I have owned mine for 2 years now and can honestly say it is brilliant. For those who will say I am lazy, this saves me an hour every weekend of mowing the grass (and getting rid of the grass cuttings) which allows me to spend more time playing football with the kids or perhaps sat on my backside watching sports on TV with a cold beer :sunglasses: If you do decide to buy one, the initial set up might take you half a day, but after that sit back and enjoy your extra free time
