If you click on the ->Get Deal<- link, it'll show all of the games, then you can click on the games image and then on the side it says "Sign in with your Nintendo Account" which will make you login and then able to purchase the game immediately.
If you actually want to use their search that you linked, you have to click Relevance for it to actually search by relevance (the game containing the name)... It's not very intuitive like you said. Perhaps they should change the default search order should be relevance rather than by name/date/none.

Thanks so much, these were priceless (and it was good to have both because the second one lacks detail and the first one is too lengthy to easily recap without forgetting key details).
I read the second one and skim read the first so I had an understanding of what each was, and dug out my Awakening cart to find out which ones I had already. I have: Champions (junk), Golden (great), and Scramble (moderate).
Now I've wasted the last few hours reading all that, I'm gonna get Rogues (Limit Breaker looks essential for endgame, and R2 character seems like 'why not') and Lost Bloodlines (Wasn't convinced by Dread Fighter at first but nearly forgot about the easy EXP method explained in the first link, and looking at the second link just now reminded me!).
That leaves me with skipping Future Past pack (don't need more conversations), Smash Brethren (sounds useless), Challenge (blah), Apotheosis (endgame only and nothing useful)

surprised to not see any comments in this thread about the relevance of the various fire emblem DLCs, i.e. recommendations on which ones to buy (and which ones to avoid). I bought one or two of them years ago (it was years, wan't it?) but stopped playing soon after. Not sure if I'll ever go back, but that's why I was kind of hoping to hear people talking about how good some of the DLCs are etc.

When I got awakening I only got the dlc for experience and for money. They were quite fun too
Both of these helped me with my new purchases. Having completed the game and played some previous DLC i would recommend much the same.

Thanks for the help - I've never used the Nintendo website to buy eshop games before. Is this a new thing they've launched along with My Nintendo?

Shadow Dragon is crap, it's a remake of the first one with Marth in it, and it's just lame. The other two are great games though.

So you can (here) - I did not know that! The site isn't very user-friendly though - when I search for 'Fire Emblem', the first Fire Emblem game is 14th on the search results, and the others are even further down!

You can now buy it directly online without needing to log into the eshop

See you say that yet i'm playing them already on 3DS because part time modders are more competent than Nintendo. All that's left to get working on CFW is DS games.

I'm not convinced.
Hackers have achieved decent homebrew emulation on 3DS. If they can get GBA software running on 3DS then I can't imagine Nintendo couldn't do the same.
Nintendo make some very odd decisions.

They really didn't think of it until recently. Lacked foresight. 3DS don't get the same Gameboy Advance releases the Wii U has because they're totally different systems. So any development isn't going to be a simple port - it'll be like developing a new game/system.
We'll certainly see better integration - just not right now. Nintendo could surprise us but it's undeniable that these problems were the result of the home console and portable efforts being run independently of each other.
The merger only happened relatively recently so hopefully we'll see the fruits of their labour towards the end of the year.

Just to point out, I have sacred stones on the 3ds (ambassador program back in 2011 I think) and shadow dragon can be played on the 3ds as it's backwards compatible with ds games. But I do agree with you it's stupid that they don't release the games on both consoles.

I'm actually pleased these are Wii U as I just find playing on a home console much more comfortable for RPGs like this that you have to sink serious hours into. In fact I'm struggling to get on with the current Fire Emblem Awakening and will probably have the same issue with Fates. Wish someone would release a 3DS that could play on a TV (I know it would be 2D) Even on the new 3DS staring at a tiny handheld screen just isn't comfortable for long periods, especially with the 3D on.....
Still I agree they should have been on both

Just realised this. I only have a 3ds nevermind.
Classic Nintendo doing dumb stuff like this. Absolutely no reason why these shouldn't be available on 3ds. Wouldn't take them much effort to port over.

Will none of the Wii U ones earn you My Nintendo gold points? The minimum purchase to earn points is £4.50...

It appears they take pre-sale price instead of the sale price so you should still be able to earn points.

Great deals here, I love the fire emblem series and hopefully these prices will encourage more ppl to give them a go.

I'd recommend all of the older ones, seriously great value when you see how much the physical copies cost. I wish I had a Wii U now lol
