With regards to your first point, I was referring to the constituents of ghee which is rich in saturated fats as oppose to other cooking fats. Secondly, I have never seen a patient on an oncology ward be advised to stick to a ketogenic diet. I have seen patients with cancer advised to increase their dosage of vitamin C and to eat certain vegetables/fruits which are rich in certain chemicals (especially those straight out of chemo). However, I have never seen a Dr say to a patient "eat sausages and bacon everyday- no bread or vegetable or fruit". Please tell me which Dr/ hospital where you have seen this because I want to report them to BMA. Essential carbohydrate are those used to make glycogen, N-capping for proteins, carbohydrate messengers. These are essential carbohydrates. Furthermore, why does the glycolysis cycle exists in all mammals if it not used for energy generation?? Lastly, regarding your point on sugared cola- these are not to be considered as carbohydrate sources- it is refined sugar with an immediate sugar hit and should be banned altogether. You are mistaking refined sugar as a carbohydrate source in a balanced diet.

there is essential Amino's or proteins and essential fats your body needs to survive there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate required for the human body to survive unless science proves otherwise. there are people in the world that have been on Ketogenic diets for over 10 years and still going strong. terminal I'll cancer patients that survived cancer with the help of Ketogenic diets and still living today. this has been proved by science. although for each study on Ketogenic diets there is many flawed research papers funded by the likes of coca cola and sugar giants trying to discredit real science.

ghee is just butter heated up then cooled down with the top layer of contents taken out so the healthy fat can be used to Cook at a higher temperature without the oil going rancid like olive oil does when heated.

you are welcome to your opinion. Ketogenic and low carb way of eating is proving to be the healthiest way of losing body fat, improving blood profile, reversing diabetes and heart decease as well as a whole multitude of illnesses. give it another decade doctors will prescribe patients this way eating. this way of eating is a lot safer than the current diet we've been prescribed by American industry funded conglomerates. read up on it if you want.

The reason people are constantly saying that to you is because they are correct. The continual lack of carbohydrate ( and I don't mean refined sugar) in your diet leads to a steady state hypoglycaemia in your homeostasis. This is not a natural state and will lead to long-term health problems in the future. Your are simply looking at what your new diet has achieved in 2 months and you are so elated with the results, nobody will convince you otherwise. That has no rationale or scientific basis. If humans were meant to exist on protein and fat alone, why do we have a carbohydrate-based metabolic system?? Was it a mistake?? The other thing you said was you put ghee in your coffee!! Please stop doing that, thanks.

Currently 2 months into a ketogenic diet myself and I've never felt better in my entire life. I've lost a good amount of weight and I feel healthy and alert. After 3 months I'm going to get a full health check just to see how my body is doing as I do know there is some possible health risks involved in the diet, and I'm CONSTANTLY hearing the words "that can't be good for you!".
Sugar is not good for you. But people have no problem throwing copious amounts of it down their neck.
I use ghee every now and then. One a week I'll put a teaspoon in my coffee instead of kerrigold butter. But it's best melting with a bit of garlic and spreading on a steak! So good!

Clarified butter is fantastic for cooking in, it's a stable fat that doesn't go rancid at body temperature (unlike rapeseed or sunflower oil) and doesn't burn easily due to its very high smoke point.
You don't find many health experts condemning butter as 'heart attack material' any more....
Not sure they can claim this as 'best quality' though. Much better to make it from organic (pasture raised cows) butter. Without adding "Flavouring (Ethyl Butyrate 0.01%)".
Those of you condemning clarified butter/ghee as 'heart attack stuff' might want to reconsider the alternatives you're using.... Who funded the research that found processed canola oil to be such healthy stuff? Are they to be trusted?

You only need to look at the constituents of ghee and then look at the constituents of atherosclerotic products and you see they are the same. No need to read any lobby sponsored research....just commonsense reqd

Low carb high fat diets (so called ketogenic diets) are not safe and their pathogenic profile is largely unknown.

Is ethyl butyrate safe???
someguy003 to priyakp
7 Apr 16#14
It is a free radical inhibitor- it stops spoilage of the butter. It is used in virtually all butters, spreads and margarines. It's not ethyl butyrate you need to worry about- it's the ghee product itself: Avoid
