I meet in the middle and buy Cirio tinned tomatoes. They're lovely - sweet with a thick juice. I am happy to just add garlic and chilli and a bit of chopped basil to make a pasta sauce. 4 tins for £2 in Waitrose at the moment.

Regularly use this brand, only annoying thing is no ring pulls on the can... I hate sodding can openers

You can almost always get 4 tins of chopped tomatoes for £1 at B&M, varying brand labels but not normally well known ones.

Bought Cirio a month or so back at 4 cans for £1.30 picks offer in Waitrose! Usually 2 quid.
Tesco price is 3 quid!!! And people think Waitrose is dear!
I'll try these, but WTF are East End? Is it a Tesco brand?
Just looked at ingredients
Cireo
Chopped Tomatoes 65%, Tomato Paste, Salt, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid
East End
Chopped Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid
So, NO Quantity % of the tomatoes, probably 1% LOL!

Cireo are better quality than East End but East End aren't bad for the price. Plenty of tomato in there and minimal amount of skins compared to say crappy Lidl ones.
East End are an Asian brand that make herbs, spices, beans and stuff that you'll find in Asian shops. They are definitely one of the better of those kind of brands in my opinion.

Out of interest, what are people's opinions on what are the better quality tinned toms? One thing I've decided not to skimp on when buying my ingredients, they make a big difference to the taste / flavour...

I buy the "premium" tinned tomatoes from Aldi at 34p a tin, and I think they're excellent. I agree that some of the "value" brands tend to be somewhat inferior (more watery and the sugar content is higher). I shall give these east end ones a try though

I always buy the 'Cook Italian' chopped tomatoes from ASDA. Expensive at 94p a tin but much better than Napolina. Very tasty. When I want something quick I will just often have a tin of these with nothing more than onions, a few herbs, salt n pepper and Spaghetti.
