Whenever I've purchased batteries cheaply from B&M they've always been a year out of date. I suggest checking before purchasing. However it's still a good price even if they don't perform to their fullest.

If you look at batteryshowdown.com you will see these batteries are top for the most expensive per amp hour so not a good deal IMHO.

At what price? At a quid you cannot go wrong. Less likely to leak too which cheap batteries do more than an excited puppy.
As for availability, RTG! Hurray, at least I can by some tat to soften the blow when they are OOS.

I've never had a battery of this size leak. Some of the inexpensive batteries are very good. One of the best is the Ready Cell alkiline from Home Bargains- 89p for 20! There are cheap rubbish ones like the Sony New Ultra from Poundland but if you do your homework - check the site I referred to for AA as well you can get very good "cheap" batteries.

Unless they ere 10p a pack they probably would never be cheaper than rechargables. If you factor in the environmental cost it's not worth it at all.

Main reason batteries leak is when they are dead. A leaked battery is a sure fire sign the alkaline got fully discharged. I bet they all can leak in this scenario.
